Harry Styles' Daughter
Chapter Seven
The student section cheered as the winning goal was scored in a shoot out. We beat the other team 5-4 on our opening night of the soccer season. I waited by the locker rooms as Kyler was showering.
"Oh hey, Paisley!" I heard a voice behind me say.
"Hey, Ryan." I responded, "good job tonight!" i said with a smile.
"Thanks, hey- what do you say we hang out tonight? just you and me?" I looked at my feet trying to think of a way to get out of this without hurting his feelings.
"I-uh.." I started to say.
"Hey, Paisley, ready to go?" Kyler says, coming up behind me.
I nod. "See ya later Ryan." I say, and accept Kyler's hand in walking to his car.
The drive to the party was short, and slightly uncomfortable. Neither of us had much to say, and I just hoped that things would get better as the night went on. Kyler didn't seem to notice the awkwardness and I was glad. Once we pulled up to the party, I was even more uncomfortable than before and instantly regretted coming here. I was the only one here who wasn't a senior. And the only girl here who was fully clothed. The music was loud and it took some time for my eyes to adjust to the lack of lighting. Kyler had disappeared as soon as we entered the building and I was left by myself. I walked to the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge, choosing not to drink at this party, and found my way to the living room. Most people were dancing, and I had to walk past a couple making out on the couch to reach the familiar face.
"Hey" I said, grabbing his arm from behind.
"oh, um, hey Paisley. sorry I left you earlier, having a good time?" Kyler asked turning my direction.
"I guess, not really my atmosphere I suppose." I said suddenly feeling bashful.
"Oh come on, live a little, what are you drinking?" He asked.
"Just water," I responded.
"Not acceptable," Kyler said pulling me toward the kitchen, "You don't want to be the freshman who had a chance to be cool but was to scared to grow up. take a shot." He handed me the glass. His voice still had a hint of sarcasm, but his demeanor said otherwise. His grip had tightened on my wrist, and I didn't think it would loosen unless I took a drink. I grabbed the glass and made my decision.
It was now or never.
