Run Away
Prologue
November 11, 1996
It was still before dawn, not even the earliest of risers was awake yet. The streets were deserted, nothing moved except for the young mother, pushing her newborn twin daughters and her year old son in a triple stroller. She was just 18, too young for the responsibilty of one child, three was out of the question. It wasn’t just her age that compelled her towards the church where she would leave these children, it was him. Her abusive ex-boyfriend, currently in jail, was the father of these children. They would always remind her of him, and she neede to leave those memories behind. She needed to leave her old life behind, to start over. And without these children, she could.
She took the stroller to back door of the church, where she knew the pastor would find them when he came in just a few hours. She left a note taped to the stroller. It said;
I trust these children will be in good care here. Their mother has died in a car crash, their father is in prison. I cannot give these children the care they deserve.
Jacob James Spencer, the boy, is about a year old. He was born on November 16, 1995, at 9:14 A.M.
Sierra Nicole Spencer, the girl with green eyes, is less than a day old. She was born today, November 11, 1996, at 4:04 A.M.
Skylar Samantha Spencer, the girl with blue eyes, is less than a day old. She was born today, November 11, 1996, at 4:02 A.M.
Everything except for the bit about the car crash was absolutely true. She added that because didn’t want these poor children to look for her.
As she turned and started walking away, she glanced back over her shoulder, catching a last glimpse at her children. “I’m sorry,” she whispered, but her words were lost in the wind.
