Niall’s view:
“Horan what is this??” Ned asked sliding a few articles across the table to me. I saw all the kids in that shabby town plying football with me.
“I went for a drive to clear my head and then I met them. They asked me to join the game and I did.” Honesty.
“Was it just a coincidence that it was by the liquor store you got plastered and possibly shagged at??” He asked agitated.
“Yeah. I kind of ended up there. I'm human and shit happens.” I stood up and Gordy backed up from me.
“Niall, we need good covers. This has to stop. We are going to work this into a story. If anyone asks about these headlines you don’t know or no comment.” Ned said. He wasn’t yelling but he was uptight and that came through on his face. I left without saying anything. I whipped out my phone whilst I walked to the back exit and entrance.
“Niall what are you doing??” Gordy asked.
“I'm going to record some songs.” I said. The phone stopped ringing and Conners was on the line. “You busy??” I asked into the phone. He said no. “Great go to the downtown studio as fast as you can. I want to finish up some chords and verses.” I hung up and looked at Gordy.
“You have things to do here too you know??” He seemed displeased.
“Like what??” I asked him with a cocked head.
“Well, today was going to be some pairings for the Torn portion of this show.” They thought it would be cute if they named each of the portions of the show after our songs. Some of them don’t even make sense but others are actually cool. Torn is when we pair up artists and they sing the song we pick for them. After they sing one is eliminated.
“Can I take it with me??” I asked.
“Come get the files.” He led me around. Files, great. He picked up a good handful of yellow folders. “Just read these and pair them up and pick a song.” He smiled like it would be easy.
“Thanks.” I said sarcastic. He listened to his earpiece.
“Your cab is here.” He led me back to the back exit and entrance. I walked out and he started to push me a path to the cab. I made it in fine and said to drive around the block for a bit before heading to the studio. Soon enough I was at the studio and waiting for Conners in the lobby. I brought in a few files and left most of them at the front desk. I shuffled through and sorted them by genre and sex. Sure enough I was clipping a few together and slapping a song on them.
“Sorry there is a large crowd outside.” He came in rushed.
“Great they found me.” I said.
“Actually I think someone else sparked their interest.” He smiled.
“Good.” I didn’t want paps all in my face asking why I was here alone and if I met any secret celebrities to collaborate with. Today was not my day.
“So are we working on “Don’t Forget Where You Belong’ or did you have something else in mind??” He took off his jacket.
“‘Don’t Forget Where You Belong’.” I went into the booth and he set the sound board.
“Ready when you are.” He said. I put on head phones and started to experiment with chords and keys until I felt comfortable. When I was mad I just wanted to think about her.
