“You want me to what?”
“Please Kat?” I groaned out leaning my head on Harry’s shoulder.
“There’s nothing else you want Payne?” I looked up and saw him shaking his head.
“Please?” I didn’t know what to say considering that it is his birthday soon but I just didn’t know if I could sing in front of hundreds of people. This wasn’t regular people, these were their fans and if I wasn’t good their fans will tear me apart.
“Do I at least get to pick the song?” The four boys nodded.
“Fine, I want to do a duet. With you Liam. We’ll talk about the song later. Those are my conditions and your fans will hate me a little less.” All the boys looked at each other and I could see the understanding forming in their eyes.
“Deal, we’ll talk to management about letting you do a song. You can start looking for a song soon and we can start practicing when we get to the center. We’ll take an hour before sound check.” I nodded agreeing with Liam. This was a lot to take in.
“Kat, you sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine. I’m going to go check on Lux.” I got up and made my way past the boys who all stared at me with huge smiles on their faces. I had woken up half an hour after I fell asleep. I was then bombarded when I walked into the kitchen by the boys proposing what Liam wanted for his birthday. I sighed and continued to the back of the bus to see Louis sitting in Harry’s bunk. He was holding a crying Lux in his lap.
She was sniffling; Lux wasn’t a huge crier so something must have happened. I leaned against the wall and listened to what Louis was saying before I barged in.
“Sweet heart, it’s okay. You’re okay. Do you want to get some ice cream later?” Lux’s eyes filled with light and Louis could see it making him laugh.
“We’ll have to ask Katherina first.” Lux giggled.
“Kat.”
“Very good, Kat.” Lux clapped her hands together. I could hear Louis sigh and watched him get up.
“Come on, let’s go find her.” I straighten out and walked closer making it seem like I was just walking in. Louis looked up with Lux in his arms. Neither of us said anything as he continued to stare at me.
“Oh, sorry. She woke up and was starting to cry.” He handed her to me making me place her on my hip.
“Thanks, I was just coming to check up on her.” He nodded and pushed past me. I looked at his retreating figure. I sighed and looked down at Lux who was too looking at Louis.
“Louuuu…” I smiled at the way she said his name. This little girl had a way with making me smile.
“Let’s go then, shall we?” I brought Lux to the main room where all five of them were talking, well Niall was eating. I put Lux on the floor and she immediately ran to Harry who picked her up and immediately started playing with her. I shook my head and sat down next to Liam. I pulled out my phone when I felt it vibrate.
The screen read Kendall Schmidt. Kendall was in a band as well, Big Time Rush. They had their own show on Nickelodeon. One Direction opened for them awhile back and we all became good friends with the boys. However, Kendall was always the one I was closest with. Our personalities just clicked and I hadn’t talked to him in a while.
“Hello Love,” Liam jumped next to me after hearing my voice.
“Well, well, well look who it is?”
“Hi Kendall.”
“Kat, I’m very disappointed in you. You don’t call, you don’t write, you don’t tweet. Nothing.” I started to laugh.
“What’s up boy?”
“I heard you and the boys were going to be in LA this week.”
“You heard correct.”
“Carlos is having a party Thursday night at his house. You guys are coming.”
“We don’t even get a say?”
“Do the boys have a show that night?” I turned to Liam.
“Do you guys have a show Thursday night?” He shook his head. Niall looked at me.
“Why?” I shook my head.
“Nope, no show.”
“Then you guys have no say. Be there at 8. You guys can crash here considering you’re staying at a hotel. That night you can just crash in the spare bedrooms. “
“Sounds good, Kendall.”
“Good, see you soon Kat.”
“Bye!”
“Oh by the way Kat, I missed you.” I smiled.
“I missed you too, Kendall. Bye.” I hung up and Niall immediately jumped on me.
“Urgh, get off.”
“Who was it?”
“It was Kendall.”
“What’d he say?”
“Him and urgh Niall! Carlos is having a party Thursday night and they said we have to go.”
“Do we have a say?”
“Nope.”
“Hm, seems fair enough.” All the boys agreed they would go.
“How much longer till we get to LA?”
“A couple of hours.” I groaned out.

“Get off!”
“No!”

“Kat!” Liam groaned out.
“For gods sake!” He pushed Niall off of me making him fall on the floor. I started laughing at Niall who was glaring up at Liam.
“Not cool, Mate. “ Liam went back to his phone.
“Never claimed it was. Oh, Danielle’s calling.” Liam got up off the couch and made his way to the back of the bus. Those two were so in love it was ridiculous. Niall hopped onto the spot next to me and smiled, I pushed his face away.
“You think Liam and Danielle are going to get married?” Harry asked as he played with Lux’s hands.
“Maybe, they’ve been together long enough.” Zayn sighed out from behind his phone.
“That doesn’t mean anything.” We all looked at Louis. He didn’t budge.
“Just because people have been together for years doesn’t mean they’re going to get married.”
“Is there trouble in paradise Lou?” Harry asked. Zayn and I stayed quiet.
“No, all I’m saying is that why do people have to get married?”
“No one’s saying anyone has to, it’s just usually what happens when two people want to take it to the next level and they know they are the one for them.”
“So now you’re saying if they don’t get married they aren’t the right one?” I stared at Louis, in shock. He was blowing this out of proportion.
“Louis, that’s not what I was saying. All I’m saying is-“
“Yes, Harry. Do explain what you mean considering the last girl you dated was Taylor and it was for about a month. Tell me what you know about marriage and someone being the one.” That was it, He was attacking my brother and I wasn’t going to have it. I stood up and grabbed Louis by the shirt.
“Harry, watch Lux. Louis, come with me.” I dragged him to the back of the bus ignoring Liam on the phone in his bunk. I literally threw him in the back room and slammed the door.
“Knock it off, Louis. You can say all you want but you do not get to attack my brother the way you just did. No, you don’t get to attack your best friend the way you did! Whatever problems you have, they stay with me. You don’t get to throw your anger onto Harry. He didn’t do anything he was just talking, you know like friends do!” He shook his head.
“God, Kat. You’re so dense, you think everything is about you!”
“No, I don’t! And even if this isn’t about me, that doesn’t give you any right to treat your best friend the way you did! Stop being such an ass and ease up! You’re literally living your dream that not many can do, so I suggest you take a freaking chill pill and just…ease up!” I pushed him back slightly and left the room too frustrated to deal with this. I walked to the front of the room and picked Lux up from Harry’s arms.
“Sorry, he’s been in a mood since this morning. Ignore him.” Harry just nodded and got up. I watched as he walked to the back of the bus to where I just was. Lux started pulling my hair making me look down at her.
“I ice pwease.” I nodded and put her down next to Niall. He immediately poked her making her laugh. I walked to the fridge and pulled out a cup and put some small ice cubes in there. She loved ice and none of us really knew why. As I closed the fridge door, I saw Liam come out from the bunk area. He was looking down at his phone.
“Hey, Liam.” He looked up at me and his eyes were red. I looked at him confused.
“Danielle and I broke it off.” I dropped the cup I was holding. Lux stopped laughing, and Zayn stopped texting. We all looked at him as he sat down across from Zayn on the kitchen table. Harry and Louis came out from the bunk area with smiles on their faces, clearly they just made up.
“Hey, what’s with the sad faces?” I looked at my brother.
“Danielle and Liam just broke up.” Both smiles were wiped off of their faces. The five of us didn’t know what to say, because it had been so long since we dealt with a break up between the boys. This tour had only begun and there were already two broken hearts on the bus.

I grabbed four snickers off the shelves and put it in the small basket I was carrying. We had stopped two hours after Liam received the news. Apparently, she still wanted to be friends but the distance and time was becoming too difficult for her to deal with. She told him she still loved him but they needed time away from each other to grow right now.
Liam hadn’t said much but he wasn’t exactly crying either. We all think he’s just letting it sink in. We stopped somewhere outside of LA. Lux was with Harry who was getting her ice cream. We were at some gas station in the middle of nowhere stalking up on candy and snacks. I grabbed the chocolate for Liam as well as different other candies, drinks and chex mix. Harry was still with Lux picking out the ice cream as I made my way to the counter.
I placed everything on the counter and waited for the guy to ring me up. He looked up at me; he had brown eyes, tall and short blonde hair. He was tanned probably from the Cali sun and wore jeans and a black tank top. He had a pair of sunglasses on his head and looked around his early 20’s. His eyes scanned my body until they finally reached my face, he sent me a pearly white smile but it did nothing for me.
“Hey, is this all?”
“Yup.” He started scanning the snacks and put them in a bag.
“You have an accent, you’re not from around here.”
“No, I’m not.” I didn’t care for this guy. All I wanted was to get back to the bus and make sure Liam was okay and to eat my baby ruth.
“So where are you from?”
“Overseas. How much will it be?”
“What’s wrong baby? What’s the rush?” I was about to reply until Harry came up behind me with Lux.
“Hey, what’s going on?” I shook my head.
“Just paying.”
“I know you.” We both turned back to the guy working behind the counter.
“You’re that guy from that boy band.” None of us said anything as Harry shifted Lux in his arms.
“Yeah, well baby if you want a real man instead of this fag you should give me your number.” I stared appalled at this guy. I could not believe anything that was coming out of his mouth.
“Harry, take Lux to the bus please.”
“Kat, no. Just let it go.” I glared at the guy who was still smirking at me.
“Okay, one: ew. Just ew, you need to get your head out of your ass and take a long hard look in the mirror if you seriously think you’re that amazing. Two: He’s my brother and he’s not a fag and even if he was who are you to call anyone names? And three: a real man? I’m sorry, the last time I checked my brother and his ‘boy band’ are touring the world. We’ve been to places you couldn’t even imagine and I’m sorry you’re working where? While my brother is playing sold out concert halls and stadiums you sit here behind your little cash register and hit on girls that are probably way out of your league. The next time you call someone a fag or try to hit on a girl, try looking less pathetic while doing it. Now how much is it?” The guy glared at me and looked back at the screen. He didn’t say anything but I could see him grip the counter.
“14.95” I threw 15 at him and grabbed the bag. Harry and Lux were already at the exit door. I walked out and made my way to the bus. Harry walked in silence next to me, carrying Lux. I sighed; I was so tired of people being so damn rude in America. I knew those comments didn’t bug Harry, but once in a while they got to him and I was so tired of people using that as an insult.
“Thanks, Kat.” I nodded. We didn’t need to say anything else, we never did. It was just the way our relationship was. It was always going to be family before anything else. I sent him a small smile which he returned, but it wasn’t his regular smile. It was a sad one, and that gave away the fact that the comment had got to him.
“Harry-“
“Don’t Kat, I’m fine.” But he wasn’t and I could see it. I shook my head as he opened the door to the bus. Niall was on his laptop, Zayn was asleep, Louis was on his phone and Liam was staring at the tv screen. I watched Harry put Lux on the couch next to Louis and hand her, her ice cream.
“Can you watch her Louis? I’m going to go lay down.” Louis nodded and watched Harry walk to the back of the bus without another word. Louis looked back at me as I shut the door.
“What’s his problem?” I sighed and walked over to open Lux’s ice cream that she was having trouble with.
“The guy inside called him a fag.” Louis closed his eyes and leaned his head back. All five boys have been on the receiving end of those comments and even though it shouldn’t bother them, it still did. They were still human and they were still growing up. I put the rest of the bags down on the table and took out the snickers. I walked over to where Liam was sitting and handed him the three bars. He looked down at my hand and back up at me.
“It’s not much but it’s a start to healing a broken heart.” I smiled sadly at him. He nodded back and took the candy bars in his hands. He didn’t say anything else, he didn’t have to. I sighed and got up to go get my lap top. I decided to start looking for a song to sing with him. I dug through my bag and found it at the bottom. I walked back to the table where Niall was sitting and felt the bus jerk to life.
As I opened up the laptop and waited for it to load I took in the surroundings on the bus. I took in how Niall smiled at whatever the hell he was watching, I could see Harry’s shoes on the floor in the bunk area. I looked at Zayn’s bunk to hear him snoring lightly. Liam was still sitting there not saying anything and Louis was trying to help Lux eat her ice cream. It was then I realized how young we all really were.
What the media doesn’t realize is how young One Direction really is and even though they may be those perverted, loud boys that reek havoc wherever they go, what people don’t understand is how much they are all still growing and that one day that might be their biggest weakness.

Hello all.I know another filler chapter, believe me it's needed.
I know there wasn't much Louis and Kat in here and I kind of strayed away from that but don't worry it's not over.
I needed you all to see Kat when she's worrying about her friends and how much she does care for them.
