Under What You See

Chapter 2

We just walked right out the front doors! No one even noticed. No one saw. No one cared? Must happen a lot I guess. "So...what's the plan?" I asked curiously.

"I was thinking the mall. That's where I usually go." He said heading towards his car. Usually? Hes gone more than once. "Im always back by the end of the day and no one notices." He said grinning.

I forced a smile, and climbed into his car. This was no more rebellious than double dressing right? We took off, and he blasted the radio. The farther we got from school, the more comfortable I felt!

We reached the mall, and headed inside. No one even looked twice at us. I half expected someone to question us. We walked hand in hand to the escalator and then around the top floor.

"This is nice." I told Jack, smiling. He smiled back at me, before leaning in and kissing me gently. That's when I heard something that made my heart stop.

"ELIZABETH ANN MASTERSON!"

I froze. So did Jack. A hand clamped down on my shoulder and turned me. A very angry pair of my parents stood behind me. Why were they here?

"WHY ARE YOU NOT IN SCHOOL YOUNG LADY!? WHO IS THIS BOY?! AND WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU WEARING!!!!!" Yelled my mom. Pretty much everyone in the mall was staring by now.

"Mom....I...I...." I stuttered. I couldn't form a sentence. How was I supposed to explain this to them. Your rules are dumb so I made my own. Yeah that would go well. Notice the sarcasm.

"THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DRESSING LIKE COMPLETE TRASH! HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SEEING THIS...BOY!!!" She yelled, saying boy as if it was a swear word.

"I...I..." I stuttered. "You are not the daughter we raised." She said quietly and slowly. "Mom." I started, but she held up a hand cutting me off.

"Elizabeth. We simply cannot have a daughter who acts out this way." She said just as slowly. Jack shifted uncomfortably next to me. I couldn't believe what I just heard.

"Mother...are you..." I started, but she cut me off again.

"I do not believe that you belong in this family anymore. We gave you simple rules, and you were unable to follow them. We absolutely cannot have you setting this example for your little sister! If you are going to continue to be this way, you will need to find an alternate living situation." She said.

"Mother. Those rules are impossible. Please listen!" I begged. She shook her head.

"I'm sorry Elizabeth. Please dont return." She said. Then then my father and she walked away. Tears blinded my eyesight. Im assuming Jack took me out to the car, but I don't remember moving. Next thing I knew, we were driving away.

"Beth." Said Jack quietly. I stayed silent, staring out of my window. All I had was my backpack, about 20$, some gum, a math text book, and a granola bar.

As we pulled into the parking lot, my heart stopped when I saw a tow truck towing away my precious car! I jumped out of Jacks car and fell onto the ground. I had no where to go.

"Well that was intense." Jack said. I could rip out his throat.

"Can I stay with you until I get back on my feet?" I asked, staring up at him. He would right? It was partially his fault.

"Um. I don't need my parents kicking me out too! Sorry." Was all he said, before he left me. I was alone, just watching him driveway.
