Like Father Like Son

Chapter 2

"Kellyn?" Elaine said as we stepped off the bus.

I looked over at her, "yeah?"

She pointed across the parking lot and raised an eyebrow, "who's that?"

My eyes followed her finger and across the lot. A tall boy with tussled black hair and light blue and green eyes. He was wearing a red polo shirt and black jeans, making him look amazing. I could have swore my eyes bulged.

"I have no idea," I gasped, "but dang."

"Well, let's meet him." Elaine smirked, grabbing my hand and tugging me toward him. My feet were stumbling worse with each step. Elaine pulled harder as she stopped in front of him, and I tripped and fell against her. I shot her a glare as she smiled at the boy.

"Hi!" she squeaked, "I'm Elaine!"

The boy turned to us, smirking, "Hello."

"This is my best friend, Kellyn!" Elaine exclaimed, "what's your name?"

"Jason." He nodded, offering a hand, "Jason Beauman."

Elaine shook his hand, and then I did. Elaine then said, "Are you new?"

"I am." Jason nodded with a sly smile, "just moved here, my mom passed away, so my dad got rights."

"I'm so sorry." I said, feeling extremely sorry for the stranger.

Jason shrugged and nodded, "thank you, but it's been about a year now, and I love my dad, so I'm coping."

"That's good." I smiled. Elaine glanced back at me, smiling sweetly, then looked back at Jason.

"Jason!" Elaine said, smiling even wider, "can I see your schedule?"

Jason nodded and pulled a slip of paper from his pocket, "here ya go!"

Elaine and I had three classes together, but knew each others classes. Elaine examined his, and mentally compared all three of them.

"Well!" Elaine squeaked, "he has all classes with you, Kell, so he has homeroom, third period and lunch with me."

I peered up at Jason, and he smiled at me. I felt a faded blush cross my pale cheeks when the bell, signaling we all had to be inside the building rang.

"Well, let's go!" Elaine exclaimed, racing toward the school, with Jason and I at her heels.
