Less Than One Minute Old
Chapter Six.
+
It's been three days since we last saw Harry and Elliot and I are feeling much better. After spending the day with him and most of the night, I realized that I should probably tell Elliot about Harry being her dad. It's going to be a really hard decision for me and I have no idea how to come about this. I know Harry can be a great dad to her, I'm just terrified. Louis and Eleanor are meeting Elliot and I at Starbucks so we can discuss this. They know Harry just as well as I do, if not better, so I know that they'll be honest with me. They love Elliot more than anything, so I know they would never put her in a situation where she could get hurt.
"Ellie, are you ready? We have to go meet Uncle Lou and Aunt El. Let's get your shoes on!"
"Coming mommy, do you like my outfit? I picked it out allllll by myself!" To emphasize her outfit she even twirled around. Man, my daughter was beautiful. I have no idea what I am going to do when she hits puberty.
"Baby, you are the most beautiful princess in all the land. Now let's go!"
Elliot and I walked down the block to Starbucks and got a table outside to wait for Louis and Eleanor. I pulled out some coloring books so she could have something to distract her with. Knowing Eleanor this could be a long wait.
"Mama look I drew a picta. It's of you, me, and Mista Harry." She showed me a picture with three sticks figures. The shortest one, I'm assuming is her, was standing in the middle holding both of our hands. We looked to be in a park, but I'm only assuming because of the green on our feet. The one thing that stood out to me was the hearts around our heads.
"Oh baby, it's beautiful. We should hang it up, don't you think?"
"No mama! It's for Mista Harry. I pinky pwomised I would make him a picta with his princesses in it." Huh?
"What do you mean baby?"
"Well see whenever he tells me bedtime stowies he tells me about these two pwincesses he lost a looooong time ago. He keeps twying to find them so I told him I would help and I was gonna ask you if we could be his pwincesses." That sneaky son of a bitch. I mean I can't be mad. He never told him who his 'princesses' were. Hell, they might not even be Elliot and I. I just hate that he is making it seem like he spent those three years looking for us, when I know he didn't.
"Hm baby. Well I will have to talk to Harry about that, okay? Oh look I see Uncle Lou and Aunt El." Thank god they're here. It was very hard to talk about Harry to Elliot.
"Hey baby girl, how you feeling?" Eleanor kissed her head and Louis ruffled her hair.
"Muuuuch betta. Uncle Lou! Don't do that I brushed my hair allll by myself dis mornings!" And there is the drama queen I love.
"Sorry baby, but look I brought a football so I can teach you how to be the best footballer ever! Come on let's go!" Elliot's eyes lit up and ran off with Lou to the park across the street to play soccer. I swear being around these two, this child is going to know all the British slang.
"So let's order and than we can gossip all your pretty heart desires. I know you have something to tell me." God, I love Eleanor so much. I swear she knows me better than anyone I've ever met, well besides Harry, but that's not the point.
We both ordered our drinks and I got a smoothie for Elliot for later on. She would throw the worlds biggest fit if I didn't get her anything from Starbucks. I swear she loves it more than I do. After our drinks arrive Eleanor gives me that look like I am in trouble.
"What? I didn't do anything so get that out of that pretty British mind of yours."
"I'm just making sure there was no kissing or hand holding or anything involved between you and Mr. Styles. We all know how charming he can be, and you are still in love with the man." I almost choked on my drink. Eleanor is very blunt and doesn't take bullshit. If I were to lie to her, hell if I were to even think about lying to her she would see right through me.
"El, come on. Do you think I'm so stupid? No. Nothing happened. Well not like that.. I just uh. I want to tell Elliot that Harry is her father. I mean you should have seen him this past week when we were sick. I felt as if nothing changed. It's like this weight has been lifted off my shoulders."
"Emily..I think that is wonderful. You know Lou and I love you and Ellie so much and I want nothing but happiness for the both of you. These years have been really hard because we had been in contact with Harry and even though I don't know why he left, I just.. I can't imagine it was a good enough reason. I want you to be 100% sure when you make this decision."
"So...you're saying I shouldn't?" I couldn't help but feel disappointed. I was so excited when I came to this realization. I thought I would be getting my family back together, for Elliot's sake.
"No of course not Em. You know I want you to be happy. I want this so bad and I have for so long. I just want you to make sure you know what you are doing, and I don't think it would hurt to ask why he did what he did. I mean you deserve an explanation, yeah?"
"Well I see your point.. I guess I'll meet him sometime this week to discuss it."
"That's a really good idea Em, and I mean I wouldn't bring Elliot. I think that could cloud your judgement. Seeing him with her melts your heart and clouds your mind." Oh god. I know she is right but being alone with Harry seems scary to me. It's been three years and I don't know how I can do that.
"Don't worry babe, you can do this. Now get that panic look off your face here comes Elliot and Lou."
"Hey baby girl, did you have fun playing soccer?"
"Yes mama I even scored a goal! Uncle Lou is sooooo good." I chuckled and brought my girl in for a hug. I sat her on my lap and passed her the smoothie I bought. She gulped half of it down in seconds and turned to be with a huge grin on her face and placed a kiss on my cheek.
"Thanks Lou for taking her out there."
"It was no problem. She's got natural talent, no doubt this one here will be an athlete for sure." I couldn't help but smile at the image that painted in my head. I could just see myself in the bleachers cheering for Elliot while she ran to make a goal. I could even see Harry run on the field and put her on his shoulders. One day. I will have my family back one day.
"Mama can we pweaaaase have some bwonies?" My angel looked up at me with the biggest puppy dog eyes and pout I have ever seen. I chuckled and nodded before calling the waitress over. The brownies came out and were devoured by Louis and Elliot within minutes. I couldn't help but think back to the idea of having Harry here with me. Him being the one teaching her to play soccer and buy her sweets.
"Hey baby, mamas gotta make a phone call go sit on Uncle Lou." She did as she was told and I went and got my phone out of the diaper bag. I dialed the all familiar number and kept listening to it ring for what felt like ages until finally the deep voice came onto the receiver.
H: Em? Are you okay? Is Elliot alright?
E: Harry, yes, calm down. Everything is good. I just uh..
H: Em, what's up? Tell me. You can trust me.
E: I just well I wanted to talk to you. Just uhm, me and you.
H: Oh? Uh..did I do something wrong? I'll meet you anywhere.
E: No, of course not. Just maybe tomorrow night let's meet.
H: Well I can take you out to dinner? I mean if you would want..erm.. I mean you don't have to. I can just come over and we can play with Elliot.
E: Well, that would be great. I wasn't going to bring her, if that's alright?
H: Oh! No perfect. I have a perfect place in mind. Just wear something nice, not that you don't always look nice. God I'm a wanker, I'm sorry for babbling. I can pick you up at 7:00?
E: Yeah, Harry. Sounds good. See you then.
I hung up the phone with butterflies in my stomach. He sounded so nervous on the phone, like he just wanted to impress me. I looked back at Elliot stealing a bite from Louis' brownie and watched Eleanor giggle at the sight. I can't wait until that will be my family. Hopefully I will get the answers I need tomorrow.
