Seventeen Shades of Blue
In Love With You Part II
I parked our sorry excuse for a truck. It sputtered to a stop as I applied the brakes. Which barely worked.
"We made it. Surprisingly alive." I said. Kenzie nodded. "How much do we have?" She shuffled through the wallet.
"Twenty-five dollars. Enough for dinner. Tonight." She said. I nodded, looking away. I banged the steering wheel.
"I am seriously hating Luke." I said, banging the horn, sending a loud honk. A family glared. I mouthed "Sorry", but not really caring. The mom clutched the little boys hand, and sped away. I rolled my eyes. "Come on. I've got an interview at three." We opened the doors, and stepped out. The warm, summer air swarmed us. I closed the door, and walked inside.
I walked into the building, which looked as if it was five hundred feet tall. I took a deep breath, feeling nervous. Come on, Erin. You can do this. I walked to the desk.
"Uh, hi I'm here for an interview." She looked at me, scanning me up and down.
"Floor 524. Last door," She said, "I assume you know how to use an elevator." I took a deep breath.
"No. I don't. Can you show me?" I asked, sarcastically. She gave me a cynical eye. I just
smirked. She rolled her eyes.
"You'll figure it out." I walked to the elevator. Clicking the button, I waited for it to arrive. I looked at my watch, 2:55. I groaned.
"Erin?" I pivoted around on my heels. I instantly saw Michael.
"Michael." I stated flatly.
"You look amazing." He said.
"Thanks. Whatever." I replied. Not wanting to speak to him.
"How's it been?" He asked. I shrugged.
"Other than the unemployment, beat up truck, run-down house, and empty pantries, great!" I said, sarcastically
"Really? Oh, I'm sorry. What brings you here?" I looked at him.
"I'm applying for a job." He smiled.
"Cool." I nodded, looking away as the elevator doors swung open.
"Goodbye, Michael." He smiled, waving.
"Nice seeing-" The doors closed before he could finish. I groaned. Crossing my arms. I waited until the doors swung open, revealing a busy workroom. I pushed my way past, and down the hall to the last door to the left. I knocked.
"Who is it?" A man asked.
"Uh, Its Erin. I'm here for the interview." I asked. There was silence. "Hello?"
"Uh, yeah, come in." I slowly opened the door. The office had a view of the city located on the opposite side. Papers cluttered the desk, and two chairs stood in front. I looked across the room, causing me to freeze. I wanted to run, but my feet were glued. My mouth stuck open, my eyes wide.
"Erin. Hm, nice to see you again." He said.
"Luke."
I can't wait for an update. :) X
