Speech. (35th Chapter)

Janelle's POV:

I walk behind Perrie, clutching my purse with one hand, and holding up my dress fabric in the other. “My goodness, child. You look like a dream tonight.” Zayn’s father shows his humble respect, as he stands up to hug me. “Thank you so much.” I reply with complete politeness, as I hug Zayn’s mother while giving his three sisters a quick wink.
“Doesn’t she look marvellous, darling?” Zayn’s mother whispers to him, but all he does is stare straight into my eyes, breathing heavily silent. I stare at his eyes, but Perrie rings the crystal glass of wine; making everyone in the hall silent. She smiles at the guests, and lifts herself up from the chair.
“I just want to say thank you, to everyone for showing up. Now I know, that you all had a long flight to Paris, but trust me its hopefully worth it. If anyone wants to say something, feel free before we toast.” She stares at the entire room, as a male voice speaks: “I’d like to say a few words, if possible.” Perrie nods, while I turn to see Shehroze standing up with his glass lifted.
“I have known my cousin since childhood. He was always the quiet boy, playing with his toys, loving his parents, and working hard on his education. I always loved how he was enthusiastic about his life. (He smirks cleverly) His excitement for life disappeared for almost four years, and now for some reason (he stares at me) He is gaining it back. (My eyes widen, as he turns to look at Perrie) I hope you’ll be the reason to make him happy, as much as he will. A toast for the bride and groom.” Everyone lifts their glasses, and I wait no longer than to gulp down the entire cup.
Zayn tries to hide his nervousness, by a smile; but I know that it isn’t believable. The music starts playing, floating symphonic tones that could light a broken heart; just like mine. The soft tune played by the band, relaxes my tension a little, as hear a light-raspy voice behind me. “Care to dance, love?” Louis asks with a light smile on his face, and I don’t think twice while placing my hand in his.
About five or six couples are swaying on the dance floor, while Louis places his hand over my waist. I know he has no intentions of having a crush on me, and neither do I. Don’t get me wrong, he is incredibly cute and so gentle, but only one person is on my mind. Speaking of that person, he joins Perrie to the dance floor, giving me quick looks.
“(He asks worriedly as we sway) Is anything wrong?” I shake my head at Louis, as I paste a smile on my mouth. “Nothing, I’m just a little overwhelmed by the speech.” Even though I can sense that Louis isn’t buying my words, he nods just to make me relaxed. The yet-to-be married couple moves closer to where Louis and I are dancing, making me hands stiffen a little on Louis’s shoulders.
“May I cut in?” Zayn asks Louis, smiling at his friend. I look at Perrie and I notice how wide her pupils grow; she definitely doesn’t want me to be any inch near Zayn. To be honest, I am becoming a lot more doubtful that she may know something about Zayn and I. “Of course, mate. (He gives Perrie a friendly look) I’ll be honoured to dance with the bride to be.” Perrie forces her teeth to form a smile, clearly not wanting to let Zayn go.
I may understand that Perrie is in love with Zayn… and yes sometimes if you love someone, you get attached. But she’s being so possessive over him, and truly I never saw someone close to how Perrie is with Zayn. Heck, I’m the one in love with him, and even though I bubble up in jealousy all the time, but still I’m not that controlling.
