Chapter 2
Annabelle: I don’t believe MC Hammer thought “Can’t touch this” could reach such a literal level.

It hasn’t even been 24 hours, and I’m already losing my mind.
Liam, or whoever this boy is, acts exactly like James would and says everything James would have said. To me, he’s basically a symbol of Jesus walking right up to me, smacking me in the face, and saying, “HA! I sent down the exact replica of your only hope, having him think he’s going crazy by hearing everything you say, and, eventually, if you show yourself, scaring him off for good! Sucks to suck!”
Wow, thanks for that. And just to think… I went to church to honor that man every Sunday!
I rolled my eyes as I floated downstairs (invisible of course), to hear the heated discussion of Karen, Geoff, and Liam/James hybrid.
“Liam, we obviously heard something other than a girl’s screams. We live in an older building. Maybe it was the trees creaking?”
Way to try to find excuses Karen.
“It couldn’t have been anything, Li,” Geoff added. Liam shook his head, looking Karen straight in the eye just like James would.
“Mom, I heard something, I swear to God,” He stopped, looking down. “You just don’t want to move back to England!” His voice rose to shouting now. “You can’t except that they’re a-a-a-“
“A what?” Geoff demanded, while Karen glared a Liam.
“A FUCKING GHOST OR SOMETHING!” Liam slammed his hand on the table and stomped upstairs, right through me, ignoring the exasperating shouts from his parents. I followed as he ran up the stairs, slamming the door shut (He could have gone other measures to keep me out; I just floated right through).
“Fucking idiots.” He kicked a box I had accidentally dropped. I hope he thought he had moved it, otherwise, I’m screwed.
“Don’t ever listen,” He swung his fist in midair, going right through where I was floating. I’m not your punching bag, Liam. Heck, even if I wanted to be, I couldn’t. I
don’t believe MC Hammer thought “Can’t touch this” could reach such a literal level.
“Fucking hell.” He sat down on the ground of his room, boxes surrounding him as I floated next to him. He was so real, it made my heart ache. I never thought I would ever see someone and be so close before, but I felt like I could with Liam. I was always so scared that someone would notice my presence (it gets quite cold when a ghost is near) but Liam seemed to warm the room, just with him being there.
“Might as well go for a run.” Liam’s velvety voice shocked me into reality as he got up and walked to one of the boxes, labeled Athletic Wear in neat cursive. He pulled his shirt and his jeans off, thinking he was alone, and rummaged through the box, probably looking for shorts. Wow. Just………wow. I could just barely feel the heat rushing through my cheeks, heating up my entire-
Heat.
Annabelle, you’re not supposed to feel heat.
Holy fucking shit. I’m feeling heat.
*Flashback*
“Oh yes…” The hag’s squeaky, creaky voice ripped through my mind. “You’ll be able to feel something if you’re in the presence of the Solver. The Solver will make you feel alive. He’ll bring heat to your cheeks, bring liquid to the tears, even bring life into the limbs that you left so quickly.”
I could feel again?
“And all I need to do is find James?” I gulped, hoping she will say yes.
The voice laughed evilly, cackling uncontrollably. “The one you care for most Annabelle. If that’s James, then you will have to find him.”
“And he’ll solve it? Make me not-“
My voice cracked, but I continued. “Make me feel like I’m human again?”
More of that terrible laughter. “Oh, Annabelle.” I could feel the hag shaking her head in pity of me.
“He can do much more. He can turn you back, back into a human. Back alive, back living in the flesh. But for that, they’re one other thing…”

"He has to love you back.”
*End of flashback*
I can feel again, Annabelle. I have heat. Do you know what this means?

LIAM COULD CHANGE ME BACK!
I flew up in the air in triumph, having Liam whip around in surprise, his perfectly sculpted chest wooing the hell out of me. All he felt was a quick breeze, but I was feeling much, much more than just coldness. I was feeling hope. Hope that I could live a life, much more than Angelique Renée Cholmondeley-Davison ever did. I’m feeling more alive than I ever did when James Ellers was in my life. And, considering I’m a ghost, I haven’t felt actual life in a while.
My thoughts were interrupted as Liam walked right through me and out the bedroom door, having me follow him.
I’m going to show him.
I’m going to show him who I am. I’m finally going to turn visible not just to scare someone. I can do this, I can do this. I just have to find out when. I don't want Mr. and Mrs. Payne to know as of now, and I'll cross that bridge when I (or we) get there.
I followed Liam as he walked down the stairs down into the kitchen, where I saw a note on the kitchen table and heard Liam curse very loudly. “The fucking hell is wrong with them?” He yelled as I floated closer so I could read the note.
Liam-
Your father and I went into town to look around, get familiar with the place.
You can meet us at the east side of the marina at 5:30, we have dinner reservations at a close restaurant.
Take some time to cool off a bit. Watch some TV, lift weights, just DON’T LEAVE THE HOUSE.
-Mum
Perfect. It’s 3 right now, so that gives me to and a half hours to find the nerve to show myself. I hadn’t noticed Karen and Geoff leaving, but now that they did, I’m quite happy. You can do this, Annabelle.

Take a deep breath, call out his name, and concentrate.
You can do this.
“Liam!” I call out, biting my lip as he turnedaround as fast as lightning, falling down in the process and bringing a chair down with him.
“What the hell!” He walked towards where I was standing, darting his eyes back and forth to try to see any movement. “Who’s there?”
I probably would be having a heart attack right now, if had a heart that is.
This is it. What you say and do right now will affect your future forever. You’ll never find anyone else like James or Liam. You can do this.
With that, I took a deep breath, fixed my dress, and appeared, having Liam fall back on the kitchen chair he knocked over.
“Please don’t freak out,” My voice was so timid, it made me feel weak, like I couldn’t do this.
“Am I dreaming?”
Liam’s face was chalk pale and his eyes, his perfect brown eyes dialeted in fear as he racked my body, only to see that he could see through my white dress and that I don’t really have legs.
“Please,” My voice got a little louder as I floated towards him, having him yelp in shock and push back farther. “Let me explain.”
I don’t know how I’m going to, but he needs to know. Not the whole truth, but he needs to know.
Know why I need him.
Know why he is the cure to my life.
Know why he’s the Solver.

Sorry for the super short and shitty chapter. I know it sucks, and I'm SOWWWY for that. That was a really hard one to write, though. You do not know how difficult it was to figure out how to introduce them to each other. I SOLEMLY SWEAR THEY WILL GET BETTER!
