Gone
Six
As soon as the doorbell rang, Amber raced down the stairs. I heard the sound of about fifty people coming through the door. I sat down on the bed. This was my first real party. I had no idea what to expect. This was silly. I didn't care.
"Come downstairs," she yelled from the bottom of the staircase.
Just as I was about to go downstairs, my phone buzzed. I pulled it out of my bra and stared at it. It was my Mum. I didn't want to answer it but I knew that if I didn't, it wouldn't go down too well. She didn't know about the party. She did however know about a sleepover with a couple of friends. She only trusted me because I never went to parties and therefore assumed I never would. To be fair, I really was only here for Amber. And to see Winner Brent perform. Mostly for Amber's benefit though.
"Kaia?" Amber screeched, "Don't make me come back up there,"
"I've just gotta do something," I replied.
I took a deep breath and pressed answer.
"We really need to talk,"
My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach.
"I'm at Amber's. Can't we just talk when I get home?" I whined.
There was a long pause. Mum sighed.
"No, I want you home,"
"I'm not coming home Mum, it's my birthday,"
I hung up before she could argue.
I wasn't going to let her ruin this night even if it meant I was grounded till I was fifty. I just hoped that it would be well worth it.

A lot more people had showed up to the party than I had expected, my party. I knew they probably hadn't turned up just to celebrate my birthday though. I had to stand on the tip of my toes to see the other side
of the room.
"K, this is Sara, Ellie, and Holly," Amber said.
She gestured to three short skinny blonde girls wearing barely any clothes. They all gave me a sarcastic wave.
"Amber, can you introduce me to that guy you were talking to before?" the tallest out of the three asked.
Amber gave me a look. I motioned for her to go.
"You sure?"
I nodded and forced myself to smile.
"Well, I won't be long, go eat some food or something,"
No problem. I'd rather shove food in my gob than socialise with complete strangers. I hobbled over to the food
table and scoffed a few cheese and onion chips, hiding some in my handbag
for later. Everyone stared at me as I stuffed my face. I didn't care. Food
was necessary. At least for me it was.
Someone tapped me lightly on the shoulder. I spun around to see Niall.
"Can I help you?" I demanded.
Bits of food flew everywhere. I had to bite my tongue from bursting out into laughter. The expression
on his face didn't change though.
"You're Kayla right?" he asked.
I glared at him.
"It's Kaia,"
He smiled.
"Okay, well Kaia, have you seen-"
Josh came up behind him and pounced before he could manage to finish his sentence. I swear to God if Amber had invited Josh I would be pissed. Niall shoved him off.
"If you see Amber let me know yeah?" Niall said.
I nodded. I knew she was avoiding him but he seemed an okay person.
He let go of Josh and they fist bumped each other.
"Nice to see you again man," Josh said.
He turned to me and gave me a wink.
"Glad you came babe," he said.
I glared at him.
"It's my party,"
I backed away as he edged closer.
"Is that your girl?" Niall asked, surprised.
"She wishes,"
I rolled my eyes.
"In his dreams,"
