"Love, are you alright?" Niall asked sympathetically, standing in front of me.
I wasn't okay. Josh was confusing. One minute he's telling me he likes me and the next he's dating Amber. I mean I had my theories but I just couldn’t make sense of it. I wanted to say it out loud but instead I just stared at my feet in silence, not really how to react to his naive question. When I didn't answer, he perched on the edge of the seat and turned to face me, grabbing my hand.
"I just don't know why he had to choose her of all people," I said under my breath.
He leant towards me.
"Hmm?"
I shook my head.
"Forget it," I replied.
We sat there for a while in silence. It wasn't like we had nothing to say though. It was more that we didn't need to say anything.
"Would it make you feel better if you came over after school today?" He finally asked, rubbing my shoulders.
My face lit up just at the thought of it. I'd never been to his house before. He loved hanging out at mine. It was practically his second home by this point but he’d never invited me over to his before though. I couldn't wait. Well, I wasn’t excited to meet his ‘parents’ or anything but just to spend more time with him.
I kind of wondered how the whole adopted thing worked. Like what not to say or do around them. From what he’d told me, which wasn’t much mind you, they seemed to be quite loose and laid back but I couldn’t help myself from wondering whether or not he was really that close with them.
"That would be great," I replied with a small smile on my face.
Although I still hadn’t fully gotten my head around the whole relationship thing, I loved the way he made me feel and who I was when I was around him. I was privileged to have someone like him in my life. He was one of those rare chivalrous gentlemen with manners, who liked me for me. I really valued that.
As soon as the bell rang, we went our separate ways but not before he told me where to meet him after school. I had Ancient History and he had Maths-two of my favourite subjects.
Our usual teacher was away so we had a sub who was quite a lazy character. He rested his feet on the desk in front of him and leant right back in his chair. He was basically asking us not to do any work. I spent the ninety minutes staring at the clock, willing the hour hand to move to the three. Of course I wasn't quite as telekinetic as I'd hoped.
