Sixty-Three
It was still dark when I woke up to the long, slow, drawn out creak of the front door as it swung open. Suddenly there were footsteps on the stairs, probably belonging to Josh. Well, Ihopedthey belonged to Josh. But whoever it was, wasn't heading for his room. They were heading for mine.
I panicked. Why would he come into my room this late at night after getting home from a night with Amber? It just didn't seem like him. Before I could think about it any further, my door opened a fraction. I scrounged around for my lamp's on button but instead, I knocked something off my bedside table. Shit. So much for not drawing any attention to myself.
I hid under my blanket, trying to breathe as softly as I possibly could. It was stuffy under here though which made it hard for me to breathe at all. I longed to stick my head out, even for a second, just to get some fresh air. I held back though, just in case it wasn't who I thought it was.
"Oomph,"
He or she had just fallen over something. Probably my phone.
“How’s it going love?” he whispered hoarsely.
Now that my eyes had adjusted I could see faintly that he was doubled over with his hands around his ankle.
Holy shit. It wasn't a criminal and it certainly wasn't Josh. He still hadn't come home yet. Where the hell was he? I thought that maybe I should call him, find out for myself. But that would mean putting myself out there and that just wasn't something that I did.
It was the accent that gave it away.
“Good lord, Niall. You gave me a bloody heart attack. Are you okay?”
I couldn’t have been any more relieved that it was him. It wasn't that I didn't want him here, because I did, I just didn't quite know why he was here. And so late at night too.
"Happy to see me?" He grinned.
Silly question. Of course I was happy to see him.
"Always," I replied, equally as cheerful.
"Oh, you're probably wondering why I'm here,"
I nodded.

So I gave up on Ghost obvs but I have a new story up now called Bravery which I think you guys might like because it's the same sort of thing but with a refreshing new twist :)
