Gone
Forty-Seven
My heartbeat quickened as he positioned himself so he was on top of me with his legs in between mine, his shirt see through from all the sweat. He leant over me, stopping just inches from my face. I felt his breath on me as he grazed his lips along my neck, barely touching me. As much as I was loving this, I remembered the promise I had made to myself about taking things slowly. I knew it was probably best to speak up now before things got any more heated.
"Niall," I started.
I tried to think of a way to phrase it without sounding like I wasn't enjoying this. Which of course I was.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
He stopped and lay down beside me so that we were face to face, running his warm hand along the side of my cheek. I was hypnotised by his sky blue eyes, completely forgetting what I was trying to say.
"Love, is everything alright? Am I a bad kisser? Am I going too fast? You can tell me,"
I gave him a small smile.
"It's nothing," I whispered back, closing my eyes, "I'm just a little sleepy,"
It wasn't a complete lie. I had been exhausted a lot lately for no reason.
"I'll let you get some rest then. Night night beautiful,"
He rose to his feet. But as he turned to leave, I grabbed his hand.
"No, stay...I mean, only if you want to,"
"Of course I do,"
I rolled over to face the other side as he slipped his hands under my arms and brought me closer to him, his torso against my back. I allowed my body to relax as he stroked my hair. It wouldn't have been more than ten minutes before I fell asleep.
When I woke up I was relieved to see that he hadn't gone anywhere. My head was still resting on his chest and his arm was still around me. I lifted my head up just for a second to see if he was awake. His eyes were closed. He looked so peaceful, so secluded, I didn't dare to move in case I woke him.
The curtains were fully drawn across and the window was shut so I couldn't tell whether or not it was daytime. If it was, I could tell it was early. The bitey air was harsher than usual. It reminded me of last year when I lived really far away and I had to get up at five in the morning and jump straight into the shower just to get to school on time. It wouldn't be the first time I had woken up extremely early on a Saturday morning without meaning to. It'd happened plenty of times in the past.
Niall woke up slowly, yawning and stretching.
"Morning baby," he squinted at me.
His sandy blonde hair was a mess but for some reason it looked hotter like that.
"Morning,"
I knew my parents would probably still be asleep.
What I was wondering was what Niall's parents thought of him spending so much time with me. I mean, this was the second time he hadn't returned home until the next day. Any normal parents would be concerned. I wasn't sure whether or not to mention it. There was no knowing what his circumstances were.
