"That's a load of bullshit. You're lying and I know I'm right. It's written all over your face," she said matter of factly.
Maybe she knew me too well because I was doing my best not to react to anything she said. Well, it was either that, or I was a shit liar. Niall who had been observing us from a distance came up behind me and cuddled me.
"Everything okay?" He asked.
But he was looking at me when he said it. Nothing like a cat fight late on a Friday arvo, I thought to myself. That was sarcasm of course. I wasn't enjoying this. I shrugged.
"Could be better," I replied, I then turned to Amber, "just stop harassing me and get a life,"
I turned on my heel, linked my arm around Niall's and left without another word.

Niall sat in the seat next to me and leant towards me while the teacher's back was turned.
"Kaia," he whispered, his eyes were on the front of the classroom, "what are you doing this afternoon?"
My stomach flipped but not in the Oh-my-God-I'm-going-to-fucking-die-kind-of-way. It looked as though it was finally time for our second date. I couldn't wait to find out what he had in store for me. Knowing him, something romantic. I wasn't really the romantic type. In fact, that shit was for wusses. However, with Niall it was different. With him, everything was different. Unless it was completely and utterly corny. Then, I would just get the hell out.
"Absolutely nothing," I said slowly.
He grinned.
"Why?" I winked, trying to act clueless.
"It's a surprise,"
Oh wow. I didn't like surprises for many reasons. One of them being that if it was something I didn't like and I reacted in a negative way, there would be that all annoying 'you don't like it?'.
"Should I be worried?" I laughed nervously.
He shook his head, "nah, should be fun,"
Should be? Oh God, what was I getting myself into?
"Don't worry, nothing too cheesy,"
Wow, I really couldn't hide my feelings.
"Niall and Kaia, unless you want a detention this arvo, stop talking and face the front!" The teacher yelled at us.
I flinched and stared at my desk with embarrassment as the whole class turned to look at us. I hated being singled out like this. Niall just blushed bright red and continued to copy the notes from the whiteboard.
Honestly, ten to three could not have come sooner. As we made our way out the school gates, we saw Amber with two other girls who I recognised from the party. All three of them glowered at us sourly. I couldn't help but laugh at their puckered lips and scrunched eyes. I was half expecting one of them if not all to come up to me and say something 'threatening' as we passed them. That didn't happen though.
I wasn't quite sure what Niall's plan was. Whether or not he was going to swing by to pick me up later. Or if he was going to take me somewhere now.
"Oh yeah, I guess I'll pick you up later, maybe 6:30?"
I nodded. I was looking forward to it. My first second date.
