Gone
Sixteen
The fact I could be carrying Josh's baby had only just clicked in my mind. The thought of it wasn't helping the nauseous feeling I had rolling around at the pit of my stomach. I knew I shouldn't be dwelling on it but I couldn't stop my mind from wandering. The more I thought about it, the sicker I felt.
"Oh my God, you look awful. Are you gonna be sick?" Amber said.
I attempted to block her and her seemingly endless stream of questions out. It was difficult though considering I wasn't feeling well and she just wouldn't stop harassing me.
"I...um...I...think I just need to go home," I finally managed to stutter.
I found it hard to get the words out.
My body had finally stopped shaking uncontrollably but now my body ached.
"You...can go...if you like..."
I had to take several deep breaths to keep from hyperventilating. She stood up and observed me for a moment. I just wanted to be alone but I couldn't find the right words to say.
"I'll take you to sick bay, yeah?" She asked.
I nodded. My bottom lip quivered even though I wasn't even cold. She held out a hand to help me get up. It took me two very long seconds for my head to stop spinning and for me to regain my balance. She opened the door for me and led the way out of the bathroom. A split second later we were greeted by Josh and Niall who were eager to ask if I was okay.
Amber basically shoved Josh out of our way and told Niall to give me some space.
"Won't be long, I'm taking K up to sick bay, okay baby?" She said to him.
He said something in reply but by this point I had stopped listening. She put her arm around my shoulder, helping me keep my balance. We didn't speak the whole way. I couldn't talk speak without collapsing into a nervous heap on the floor and Amber was busy navigating as I was wobbly and just about ready to fall over. As soon as we entered the student office, I took a seat on the red leather chair in the corner and let out a deep sigh of exhaustion.
"Who was next?" The office lady called out.

"How long is this going to take? I don't like waiting. It's so boring. You know what else is boring? School. At least you get to miss out on the rest of the day. I guess I do too but this isn't really about me. It's about you. How are you? Are you still feeling sick? Is your Mum going to pick you up? Is it almost-" Amber babbled nervously.
I held a finger up to her mouth and shushed her.
"Please...just calm down. I'll be fine once I'm home,"
She did stop talking but instead she started biting her nails. It made a really loud clicking noise. As if that wasn't annoying enough, she decided to continuously jiggle her right leg really fast. Suddenly, It was all too much. I covered my ears with my hands and closed my eyes. She stopped and moved my hands away.
"Are you going to tell anyone what's going on?" She asked.
She had a good point. I had no one to tell. Maybe that was a good thing though.
The office lady's orange and white name tag said Pam. I hadn't seen her before. She walked up to me and gave me a friendly smile.
"Kaia, your Mum is on her way. She'll be here soon. Anything else you want to tell me about how you feel or what you think may have caused this?" Pam asked.
I shook my head without even thinking about it. What was there to think about? Other than the fact I knew nothing about why I may be feeling this way.
