Gone
Twelve
The next day, I made a decision to lay low for a couple of days. I had to pretend I was okay with everything. Once my Mum had seen me be 'mature' and take responsibility for my actions, she would be more likely to change her mind about the Josh thing. I undressed and searched through my drawers until I found my yellow and white polka dot playsuit. I was just about to unzip the back of it when I heard a noise coming from outside. I shoved myself into the clothes and peered out the window to see a orange Sudan parked on the sidewalk. Oh hell no! I swear to God I was about ready to murder someone. I bolted downstairs as quickly as I could. There was a large suitcase lying at the bottom of the stairs and the front door was wide open.
"Hey," a voice said, "look I-"
I spun around to see Josh standing a few metres from me. He was right to keep his distance with the mood I was in.
"No, you look. Let's get a few things straight," I grumbled, "don't come near me, don't touch me, don't even breathe near me or I will kill you. You know I will,"
"Actually, I wanted to apologise,"
I rolled my eyes. Josh couldn't simply apologise. It didn't matter what it was about, there was always a catch.
"Ha! Here we go," I scoffed.
He glared at me as if he was offended that I didn't believe him. I had no reason to. He had to be one of the most untruthful people I knew, if not the most.
"I don't want anything from you, except for you to leave," I stated.
I didn't even try to sugar coat how I felt. I stormed back up the stairs just in time for Dad to come through the door.
"And just where do you think you're going?" he demanded.
Sounds like he found out about the party. I stopped and turned around. His frown quickly turned into a smile.
"Why so serious? I was just messing with you kiddo,"
That was the best thing about Dad. He was almost never serious.
"No reason," I answered, "no reason at all. I'll be in my room if anybody needs me,"
"At least show Josh to his room," he called after me.
I pretended not to hear him as I continued up the stairs. He was not sleeping in my room. There was a spare room across the hall for a reason.
I lay down on my bed and stared at the ceiling, letting my eyes go in and out of focus. There was a knock on my door.
"Go away," I yelled.
The door opened anyway and in popped Josh with a sour expression on his face.
"Really wish you'd hear me out,"
I pulled the covers over me and rolled over to face the other way. I could feel him watching me.
"You just don't give up do you? Don't you get it? I'm not going to hear you out. Why would I? Now, leave me alone, I want to sleep. Oh and close the door on the way out,"
He lingered for a moment.
"Fine," he muttered, "I wasn't really sorry anyway,"
There's the Josh we all know and love to hate. Didn't take long for him to break. Fucking knew it. He left the room and closed the door over slightly but not all the way just to piss me off. Well, it worked.
