New beginnings

I wake up, opening my eyes slowly. My eyesight is blurry until I blink a few times.
The first thing I do is check my phone. I have a few emails and app notifications, but I ignore them.
I realise that I’m not alone in my room and have a moment of panic before hearing Louis’ voice.
“I wish we could tell her…” he sighs. Tell me what?
“I know, Lou. She wouldn’t understand.” Someone else says. By the tone, I’m guessing it’s Harry.
“She deserves to know!” Louis argues.
“Shush, you’ll wake her.” Harry chastises. They don’t know that I’m up yet. Should I eavesdrop?
“She needs to know that I’m her brother!” he shouts.
What?
I shoot up in bed. They look over, expressions of horror on their faces.
“Lou?” I say. “You’re my brother?”
“Umm…yeah.” He looks down at his feet.
I jump out of bed and hug him tightly. At first he’s surprised, but he hugs me back.
At that moment, I start crying.
“I think I’ll leave you guys alone.” Harry says, exiting the room and closing the door.
“Why are you crying?” Louis asks gently.
“I didn’t know I had any siblings…never mind anyone related to me…” I cry harder. I’m not alone in the world.
“My parents didn’t tell me that I was adopted until a few weeks ago. When they told me I had a sister, I knew I had to adopt her.” He answers, rubbing my back. “It’s okay, Vi. It’s okay.”
“I’m not sad, Lou. I’m so happy.” I smile at my…brother. Louis is my brother.
“I’m glad.”
Eventually I stop crying.

“Are you hungry?” he asks. “Harry made eggs.”
“Yeah.” I smile.
“Come on then.” He takes my hand and pulls me downstairs to the kitchen, where the other boys are already eating.
“Simon just called. We’ve got another interview today.” Niall says with his mouth full. Louis sighs and rolls his eyes.
“Alright.” He turns to me. “D’you wanna come, Vi?”
“I’m alright.” I shake my head. I haven’t had any alone time in a while. I really need to catch up on Sherlock.
“Okay.” He turns to Liam. “When do we have to leave?”
“In like, ten minutes bro. You’d better hurry up and eat.” Liam replies.
Louis grabs two plates and hands one to me, using a large spoon to scoop the eggs onto them.
“Thanks.” I say. He nods in reply.
Soon after that, the boys leave. I never realised how quiet this house was without the boys in it.
I watch the rest of season two, eventually getting bored of the show and opening my laptop.
“New interview from one direction!” an article on sugarscape reads.
I click to open the article and ignore the text, scrolling down to the video. Pressing the play button, I turn the volume up.
“So, how’s Violet?” the interviewer asks.
“She’s good.” Louis answers shortly.
“Are you guys close?” she pokes forwards, obviously not understanding that he doesn’t want to talk about it.
Surprisingly, he smiles. “Yeah, we’re really close.”
The interviewer cocks her eyebrow. “Some might say too close for an adoptive parent and their child.”
“And what exactly is that supposed to mean?” Louis snaps. The interviewer isn’t phased.
“Some people think that a…romance might be blooming.” She answers.
“That’s sick! Firstly, she’s thirteen! Secondly, she’s…she’s my SISTER!” he explodes.
The video still has a minute left, but I pause it. I don’t need to see any more.
I’m going to get so much hate for this. My twitter is going to blow up, yet again.
