Moonlight

You've Always Been Close

"Kylie!", I heard my best friend call throughout the house. Her strong British accent caught up to me and I giggled, knowing that she would be standing at the bottom on the stairs with her baby girl hiked on her hip as she taps her foot impatiently.
"Coming Lou!", I call, grabbing my bag off of my bed and my phone before trudging down the stairs. My lilac haired best friend who was quite a little older than me smiled sweetly and bounced Lux around.
A I got the the bottom of the stairs, Lux reached her arms out, gurgling my name cutely before I pressed a swift kiss to her chubby cheek before hugging Lou.
Lou had just gotten back from touring around the world as a well-known stylist for a boy band. One Direction.
As I walked towards my front door, a solid bang knocked against the legs. I looked down to see the most beautiful little girl in my life. My just gone two year old wrapped her small chubby arms around my legs and looked up at me with her chin pressed against my jeans.
Her melodic giggle rung through my ears and her dimply smile sparked across her perfect little face. "Mwummy", she giggled as I quickly swung her up into my arms and twirled us both around.
"Hey Bella Bear", I pucker my lips at her and she pressed her lips against mine. She was precious.
I switched off the TV and followed Lou out the door. I set Bella down on the ground, instructing her to follow Lou to the car before I turned around and locked the door.
As I walked over to the car, Lou was buckling Lux in and Bella was waiting patiently by her side.
I buckled my daughter in as she hummed to herself quietly. I pressed my lips to her forehead before closing the door and climbing into the passenger seat of Lou's car. She was driving.

Lux was only a week older than Bella, so they often shared lots of important moments together.
At their last birthday party, only a two weeks ago, I could tell that Bella was overwhelmed by the amount of people she had never met before.
Bella ha always been shy and intelligent. She suffered from OCD, just life myself and I hated that. It's the reason she sat in my lap quietly for most of that day.
I get that Lux had known a lot of people on the road and was an extremely lovable person. But I think there were quite a bit too many for a two year old. I could tell that Lou felt bad for overwhelming both Bella and I, but I knew she didn't mean it. It wasn't a big deal anyway.

As Lou pulled out of the driveway, she quickly informed me about how long she had in London before she went back on tour. 2 weeks.
"So why did you come home anyway?", I asked curiously, listening to our children have a conversation.
"Actually...That's what I wanted to talk to you about...", she spoke, looking at me before back at the road.
"Okay...What is it?", I laughed, looking back at my daughter, smiling gently as she laughed at Lux and bounced in her seat.
"I need an assistant stylist", she spoke, giving me an anxious look.
"Okay? And what's that got to do with me?", I laughed again, still not understanding.
"You've been trained Kylie. We went to university together and completed our course. I think you would be the best for the job", she said.
"No. I can't. I gave up that career, remember?", I said.
"Yeah and you haven't been earning enough anyway! You need to survive. You need to look after yourself and Bella", she said truthfully.
"I'm sorry Lou. But there is no way you can ask me to do that", I say, shaking my head sorrily.
"I'm not asking. Because I kinda... already...possibly volunteered you...", she said quietly.
"Lou!", I frown. "I'm sorry. But we are so desperate. Lux is driving me crazy because she has no other children to play with. And I know that you are the best person for this job. We will have an amazing time together", she spoke, looking into my eyes desperately as we stopped at the traffic lights.

"I don't think they would want me there"
