Broken Records

We're locked in a mall, being robbed, with a lovely chance of death.
"Belle," I call miserably upon realizing she's not next to me.

Suddenly, I swipe around.

Was that my mind playing tricks on me?
I turn to my left.
Is that a person jumping?
I jump back, leaning my back against the glass door, taking small, fast breaths.

I squint, trying to make out why the Life Insurance store door is opened.. it was locked.

I start out for the middle, nervously walking - I can walk, not run - hearing every tap of my flats.
Suddenly, I feel a hard thud on my back.

"Belle!"
"Harry!"
Oh, god. IT'S A MALE VOICE.
I turn and yelp when I see the stranger dressed in all black.

Holy shit, a robber!
I try running away, but my stupid right leg isn't fucking working, and somebody yanks me back.
I feel the cold, sharp blade of a knife closely in contact with my neck. I whimper.

"P-plea-"

"Shut up!" The girl barks, threatening to slice off my head in one swipe.
I make out Belle's figure held in place by a blonde in headgear.

I squeeze my eyes.
They're going to kill us..
Until I remember Belle and I's emergency 'secret language.'

"Aloe, mai craft lee ching faug," I whisper quickly to Belle, which means "hit the guy with your foot on the count of three."

"Masao mane craft yan," She nods, which means "Kick the girl, too."

"Ten.. six.. NINETEEN!" I yell, which stands for "one, two, three."

I use my right leg to kick this bitch out of my grasp and Belle hits the guy on the head, knocking down his headgear.


"Belle. Run!" I yell as they grab one of my arms.

She frantically looks at me and runs. I don't even care she left me, she deserves to be free. I don't. I don't really have anything to go back to so it'll be okay if they kill me. Well, not okay of course. I'll be dead, I won't see my friends anymore. My family pretty much left me. The only thing I have is Belle, and she's good, pretty, and kind enough to get some friends.

I squeeze my eyes shut as one of them puts a little napkin over my mouth. I try not to inhale, but after moments I just have to.
The last words I hear are "This one's a fighter."
