Miss Masquerade
Ch. 5
Maria's POV
The next day was Monday. Heck, if I knew what was in store that day, I would have stayed in bed.
Spencer was too off-schedule to come pick me up, as I always wake up late. So I walked to school that fateful Monday morning. My school was just three blocks away, so I was perfectly content on walking anyway.
I saw my school, Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, emerging in the distance. It only took me ten minutes to get there, and surprisingly, I had five minutes to spare. So is at on the concrete wall that was maybe ten feet away from the door, knowing perfectly well I'd get run over if I was any closer.
I took out my purple leather notebook, my diary. This was one of the few people who knew my deepest, darkest secrets. I started to write.
Dear diary,
Last night was Spencer's masquerade ball. I was in a nice dress, though I hate dresses, and a golden lace mask. Spencer, of course, had picked it out.
And guess what?
Harry asked me to dance. I secretly fangirled for a moment, taking his hand to the dance floor. He tried to guess who I was, oh, but no, he doesn't know Maria Jocelyn Mae.
We tried playing twenty questions, me also asking him. I learned stuff about him I don't know. Did you know he sings? He learned my middle name, and that I wanted to be an actress. He wants to be a singer, get that. I didn't think Harry would do anything like that! I needed to get back to reality. You know why? He said he'd want to date Cody Winston--
