Paid To Be His Girlfriend

Rachel's P.O.V.

"So what are we watching?" I asked, trying to avoid the butterflies in my stomach caused by Louis arm against mine.

"Nothing really, you can put on whatever you want" he replied, handing me the remote.

Niall raised an eyebrow but just shrugged.

"Thanks" I mumbled, flicking through the channels carelessly.

"Ahh!" I grinned once I finally found something I wanted to watch.

How I Met Your Mother.

"Really? This again?" Zayn whined when he realised what I had stopped on.

Let's just say since I had become friends with them, they were branching out on the television shows they watched.

We ended up watching an episode and by the time it was over, both Megan and Katherine had arrived.

"So how'd your bowling go today?" Megan asked, once the show came to an end.

She was sitting between me and Harry.

"How did you know we went bowling?" I asked back.

"It's all over twitter" Stupid Question. Of course it was.

"Yeah, you guys looked super coupley" Kat pitched in from where she was sitting next to Zayn. Niall had offered to sit on the floor to give her the couch.

"Okay, no more of Rachel's shows!" Zayn announced, hopping off of the couch and kneeling in front of the television.

"Okay then, what do you want to watch?" I pouted at him.

He shuffled around at the tv for a minute before pulling back to reveal a movie title across the screen.

The Ring.

My eyes widened as I read it. I did NOT handle scary movies well.

"Do we have to watch this?" I mumbled nervously.

Louis smirked at me.

"Why? You scared?" he teased.

I shook my head firmly.

" 'Course not" I lied quickly.

Everyone else in the room laughed.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you" Louis chuckled, slinging his arm across my shoulder.

My skin tingled at the sudden contact.

I tried to control my breathing as the movie began.

Almost within seconds my face was buried in his chest.

His arms tightened around me protectively and he began rubbing circles in my back gently.

"It's just a movie Rach" he mumbled.

I spent the first half of the movie like that, wrapped in his arms.

Each minute that went by, I edged closer to him to the point where I was practically on his lap.

He began twirling my hair around causing my breathing to get heavy.

My head was resting across his chest and I began to hear a faint thump.

I pushed my ear closer and smiled when I realised what it was.

His heart.

The rhythm was so steady. It helped me relax slightly.

When I looked up I noticed he was watching me closely.

"Whatcha doing?" he whispered, looking a little confused.

"Listening to your heart" I replied, without thinking.

As soon as the words had left my mouth, I regretted them.

I expected him to laugh and tease me, but he didn't.

He kept my gaze and it was so intense that I could feel my heart thumping.

What was I doing? I couldn't have moments with Louis because I could never have Louis.

I jumped up so quickly that I almost fell.

"Where you going?" Megan raised an eyebrow.

"I-Em- I want a drink of water" I replied, rushing off to the kitchen before anyone was given a chance to say anything else.
