High School Romance

September 14th

6:15 AM

~The Next Day~

I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock. It played 'Turn Down for What' for the billionth time. I can't stand it. I got off my small bed and took off my clothes. I grabbed a towel and took a quick shower. I put on my clothes for the day and then dried my hair, putting it in a braid. I looked in the mirror, something was missing. I opened my mom's makeup drawer and applied some. If Niall has the slightest crush on me- which is highly doubted- then I want to look good. I put on some lip gloss and exited the bathroom. "You were in there for quite awhile Tabatha." My mom walked up the stairs and stared at my face.

"Is there something wrong?" I asked. This was creeping me out.

"Did- Did you put on makeup?" She asked rubbing my cheek. I pushed her arm away.

"Yeah, why?" She smiled.

"Is this because of that boy? What was his name?" I sighed.

"Niall. His name is Niall." I told her, she then chuckled a bit.

"Well, I like it." She then walked away into the bathroom. I skipped down the stairs and saw my bagged lunch on the counter.

~Flashback~

I just turned 14 and I'm so happy. I also just got in High School. Freshmen. Ahhhhh...feels good. I quietly walked down the hallway which only a few people were in.

-Lunch-

I walked in the Cafeteria where my very best friend Sadie was sitting. In the way back. She waved over to me and patted the seat next to her. I glided over to her, but the I bumped into somebody, making my lunch fall to the ground and everywhere. "Are you kidding me!" I looked up and it was Hanna. She laughed.

"Oh, I'm so sorry." The sarcasm was clear in her voice.

"Shut up." I whispered, but just loud enough for Hanna to hear. She glared at me.

"What did you say 'hon'?" She bended her pointer and middle fingers together and the word hon.

"She said 'shut up'!" Sadie then joined my side.

"Thanks." I whispered in her ear.

"No problem." She whispered back.

"Whatever, but don't be surprised when this girl can't help you anymore Tabatha." She then walked away with Katherine and Jules. Sadie and I high-fived.

"Nice job Tabby!" Sadie cheered.

"I couldn't have done it without you." I slipped my arm around her shoulders. We then walked towards the spot she was sitting at and almost everybody was staring at us. Some were smiling and some were giving a thumbs up.

~End of Flashback~

"Sweetie!" My mom shook my shoulders and I was jerked away from my thoughts.

"Hmm?" I answered.

"You're gonna be late for school." I looked at the clock. 7:15! School starts in 20 minutes! I still have to eat breakfast and brush my teeth! I guess putting on my face took long enough.

~At the School~

I grabbed my bag out of the passenger seat and shut the car door. Today was a new day. Yay.




I walked into the Cafeteria, once again, and sat down at an empty table and waited for Elizabeth. Yeah that's right, Math girl. We kind of clicked as friends you could say. I opened my lunch pal and pulled out a small bag of chips and opened it up. I grabbed the salty potato chip and was immediately greeted by crunchiness. Once I finished, I saw Niall get up from his seat, grab his lunch and walk over to.......me? "Is this seat taken?" He asked pointing to the seat next to mine. I shook my head, too afraid to talk. He smiled and sat down.

"W-why are you sitting with m-me?" I asked, he looked at me confused.

"I can't sit next to a pretty girl at lunch?" My heart sped up.

"I....uh....um....yeah." I was lost for words.

"Hey girl hey!" Elizabeth pulled out a chair and sat down on the other side of me.

"Hi!" Niall said waving. Lizzy froze. -Yeah, I guess I'm calling her Lizzy now.- She looked at Niall. She pulled my arm and dragged me out of the room. I gave Niall a sympathetic look and left.

"What is your problem!" I half whispered, half yelled.

"Why in the name of hell is Niall Horan sitting with us?" She asked. Her eyes were bulging out of her head.

"Because.....um...I don't know, he wanted to." I reasoned with her.

"No one, like them, sits next to a person they rarely talk to just because they want to. It's probably a prank. He's gonna steal your heart then dump it all over the place. Like a bet! This is probably a bet Tabatha!" A teacher walked by us and put a finger to her lips. "Shhh." She demanded. 'Fuck off!' I thought to my self. I turned back to Lizzy.

"Niall's not like that he's.....different." There are no words to describe Niall.

"Different then what? Jake?" My heart stopped. How dare she bring up Jake! Tears brimmed at my eyes. Jake was a fucking loser I dated in the 9th grade, I told Lizzy about it this morning when she brought up the makeup. I wiped away a tear and Lizzy became soft.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean to say that!" She came in for a and I hugged her back. Something about her just made you want to feel her comfort. I let go and asked her what I've been asking all morning.

"Is my makeup all right?" She nodded while giggling and we walked back into the lunch room. I looked over at Niall and he looked up, smiling, at me.

"Nice to see you again." Niall said grinning. I chuckled and Elizabeth a I sat back down.

"So, Niall, I believe we left off at a wrong start." Lizzy said. Niall looked over and smiled. "My name is Elizabeth, but please call me Lizzy." She stuck her hand out and Niall shook it.

"I'm Niall, but you can call me.....Niall I guess." Lizzy and I started chuckling. Niall soon joined in on our contagious laughter. Hanna walked over from a different table and whispered something in Niall's ear. I could make out a few words: why, sitting, her. Of course. Niall rolled his eyes. "Because I can." I smiled. She then whispered something else. I could only make out 2 words: no, good.
