Flashbacks and Echoes
Chapter 1
Sam's POV
"Can I help you find anything?" The employee asked me.
"No, I'm just looking around. Thank you."
I'm not really interested in buying anything but I'm trying to kill some time waiting for Jamie to get out of work. I go to the aisle with magazines first, just like I always do. Sometimes I wish I was still 15; I don't think it's socially acceptable to have One Direction posters hanging around my apartment at 22 years old.
The store bell rings, indicating another customer has come into the store. I take a glance at the door to see who came in and if I didn't know any better I'd swear to God, Harry Styles and Niall Horan just walked into Rite Aid. I shake the thought; that's not only improbable, but it's completely outrageous. I keep flipping through the magazine, but I can't help but wonder. I at least need to prove myself wrong. I put the magazine down and slowly start to walk out of the aisle. Walking down, I look in every aisle until I spot them where the food is. I pretend I'm deciding on whether or not I want cookie dough or fudge brownie Ben and Jerry's, but really I'm trying to see if I can here them talking.
"Do you think she knows who we are?!" The man's voice was laced in a heavy Irish accent; he almost sounded scared.
"If she did don't you think she would've already freaked out?" The tall brown haired man replied with. His British accent was something that couldn't be missed.
Oh my god, Harry Styles and Niall Horan are less than 50 feet away from me, and they obviously don't want anyone to know they're here. I wanted to call Jamie right then and there, but god knows their cover would be blown in 2.3 seconds with how much she fangirls; especially when it comes to Harry.
"I know who you are," I say as I walk by them "be grateful he doesn't." I point to the cashier.
I walked out of Rite Aid and headed to my car. Jamie is gonna kill me for sure. Right as I open my car door I feel someone grab my arm. Great. I knew it was only a matter of time before something bad happened to me in this shitty city. I turned around and I couldn't believe what I saw, there he was, up close and personal. I opened my mouth to speak but he covered my mouth.
"I'm pretty sure kidnapping is illegal here." I managed to mumble out.
"We're not kidnapping you, we need your help." Niall said.
My help? They need my help? Don't they have a team of people to help them? And where are their security guards? My help? Why me? I'm not about to ask twice.
"Uhm, I uh - okay. Get in."
They both looked at each other as if to ask if it was a good idea.
"Do you want me to help you or not? Because the longer you stand outside of my car, the more its gonna look like a drug deal and the less its going to look like a friendly exchange. So if you want my help, you should probably get in now."
Without a word, Niall walked around the car to the passenger seat and Harry got in the back. I don't know what I was expecting to happen to today, but this certainly was not it.
