Sage’s POV
“It’s so cold!” Louis complained running away from the tide as it came in.
“Like I said, you're a wimp.” Harry said with a straight face.
“I don’t even know why you’re friends with him, he’s always mean to you.” I was standing between them and looking up at Louis.
“I’m just getting him back right now, you should see him when you're not around.” Harry shook his head and laughed.
“I do get pretty bad.” Louis chuckled.
I felt strong arms wrap around my waist and pick me up out of the water; carrying me farther into it. Louis jumped back and continued to laugh with Harry. I looked down at the arms that were holding me and saw the familiar microphone tattoo.
“Put me down Zayn!” I screamed as the water reached his arms now.
“What’s the magic word?” He laughed.
“I’m going to kill you!” I clenched my jaw trying to endure the cold water.
“I said ‘word’ not ‘phrase’.” He laughed even harder, now standing still but not letting go of me.
“Please.” I grumbled.
“There ya go.” He said letting go of me.
As soon as my feet touched the bottom, I turned around and jumped onto his chest. He gasped and rewrapped his arms around me.
“Take me to the shallower part please.” I almost whimpered clinging to his chest.
“Okay.” He laughed walking back to where Harry and Louis were standing.
“Thank you.” I said as I let go of him. “And you deserve this.” I punched his abs quickly and with force.
“Ugh!” He groaned doubling over as I hid behind Harry for protection. “Good punch.”
“Thank you.” I stood proudly.
“Food’s ready!” Liam yelled from the beach.
We started to head back to them while we watched Niall fill his mouth with a big bite of cheeseburger. Harry was by my side when I tripped over a shell in the water and almost fell. I reached over and grabbed his arm and he caught me with ease and helped me up.
“You okay?” He asked with an undertone of laughter.
“Yea.” I mumbled wiping the water off my stomach.
Liam had already sat down with a plate of food by the time we made it up to them. Niall was sitting in a chair with his feet up and his food almost gone looking out over the water as we got our plates. Luckily a few huge comforters cushioned the truck bed because that was the only place left to sit since Harry and Louis were taking two chairs each to put their feet up. Zayn and I climbed in the back of the truck and got comfortable while Liam turned the music up.
“Want anything to drink?” Liam asked looking at Zayn and I.
“Water please.” I asked.
“Me too.” Zayn said with a mouth full of food.
“Thanks.” We both said as Liam handed us the drinks.
“I know you want today to be a carefree day, but how are you doing?” Zayn asked once Liam was sitting down.
“I’m okay.” I took a deep breath. “It’s hard to deal with but I’m doing pretty good.”
“That’s good. You know we wanted to come and see you but Harry said that it would be easier on you if we waited.” He said quietly. Or I think it was quieter, Harry was turning up the radio so I was guessing.
“I know and thank you.” I smiled weakly. “I just needed a little time.”
“We understand.” He grabbed my hand and entwined our fingers. “I’m glad Harry was here when everything happened.”
“Me too.” I hadn’t realized how much harry did for me until then.
“So, what's going on with you two?” He asked shyly. “Are you guys dating…?”
“No, still just friends.” I shrugged.
“Oh.” He said in a low voice meant more for himself than for me.
“Have fun tonight.” I winked at Harry from the running board of the truck as Harry sat in the passenger seat.
“Oh, I will.” He smiled cockily.
“I so don’t want to know about that.” Liam looked grossed out.
“Well, we gotta go.” Harry laughed looking at me again. “See you tomorrow.”
“Okay, good luck on your date tonight.” I leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“Thanks.” He smiled as I stepped down.
“Bye Niall, bye Liam.” I waved to them and saw them wave back before pulling away. “Now what?” I asked looking up at Zayn who was standing next to me.
