My Reason To Stay *On Hold*
Chapter 5
Skylar’s POV
After swimming Harry and I walked back to the shack. Most everyone was working on building the second shack. It looked almost done, considering we were only gonna for a couple of hours it pretty was impressive. It was slightly smaller than the first one, it didn’t have a porch, and looked more raggedy, but it was still good for what they had to work with.
“Did you go swimming or something?” Mackenzie asked looking at my hair which was pulled into a wet, messy bun.
“Yeah, we found this really pretty waterfall,” I said, “So hows build going?”
“I’ve been pretending to be busy all day to avoid doing work,” She smiled and I laughed.
“Typical.”
“So what’s up with you and Harry?” She asked in a hushed voiced.
“Well we aren’t official or anything like that but we’ve kissed a few times and he told me he has feelings for me,” I explained.
“Aw! When is he going to ask you?” She smiled.
“Probably not soon, I mean we have things that are a little more important than that going on right now,”
“Speaking of that, when are they going to tell us what’s going on?”
“I have no idea,” I huffed as Luke ran over to us.
Luke, Jai, and Oliver always had so much energy like I don’t even get it, but they’re funny and they make boring things interesting.
“Guess what?” He spit out quickly, “Jai’s-“
Half way through his sentence Jai tackled him to the ground. “Don’t even say it!”
After a few minutes of them wrestling Luke had Jai pinned down being slightly stronger. “Jai’s got a crush on Megan,” Luke laughed before Jai pushed him off.
“Awww how cute,” Mackenzie laughed.
“Shut up,” Jai said standing up brushing the sand off him.
“Oh look, there she is now,” Luke said with a evil smirk before jumping up and running over with Jai sprinting after him, jumping onto Luke’s back making them both fall.
“They’re insane,” Mackenzie laughed.
“Remember when you liked Luke?” I grinned poking her side.
“Oh gosh, don’t even bring that up.”
It always embarrasses her when I bring up how she used to like him, just because he’s a year younger than us. “I don’t get why it embarrasses you so much.”
“Because he’s an under classman,” She pointed out.
“Yeah, but he’s still hotter than most of the upper classmen,” I said back and she looked at me with a surprised expression.
“Hey, we were both thinking it; I just said it,” I laughed “He’s definitely not my type though.”
“Wait let me guess your type,” she said with a giggle, “tall, fit, green eyes, and curly hair.”
I pushed her shoulder, “Oh shut up.”
“We were both thinking it; I just said it,” She repeated what I said earlier before turning back to what she was doing before.
I walked onto the porch of the shack, pulling off my sneaker and socks, shaking the sand off as I walked into the shack. As I stepped through the door way I glanced up to have my eyes meet a fully naked Harry.
“Shit,” Harry said as he grabbed a blanket from the ground wrapping it around his waist.
I could feel heat rise to my cheeks as I quickly turned around. “I- I’m sorry, I didn’t think anyone was in here.”
A few moments pasted before he responded, “Um, its fine. You can turn around now.”I turned back to face him. He had pulled on a pair of black shorts. The memory of what I saw kept flashing through my mind. A little chuckle came out of his mouth.
“What?” I said looking up at him.
“Nothing,” He shook his head with a slight grin.
“Tell me,” I pushed.
“You just- no, it’s nothing.”
“Harry, tell me now,” I insisted.
“What do I get if I tell you?” He said stepping closer as he crocked his head slightly and pulled his bottom lip into him mouth.
“Seriously just tell me,” I huffed.
“I mean if nothings in it for me why would I tell you,” He smirked.
I rolled my eyes, “You’re really doing this?” He just nodded in response.
“Fine, what do you want?” I tried to be confident as I said it like none of his possible responses would surprise me, but he still intimidated me, a lot actually and I don’t know why.
A grin appeared on his face, “You’re letting me pick?” I nodded nervously. “Okay, tomorrow we’ll go back to the waterfall to go skinny dipping.”
“Ha, good joke,” I replied.
“Common, you saw me naked so it’s fair for me to see you naked, and I’ll tell you what I laughed at.”
No, Skylar, don’t do that. I kept telling myself, but it didn’t seem that bad honestly. “No way,” I forced out. I tried to hold eye contact but his body was very distracting. The whole run he didn't have a shirt on but I was never paying attention to how fit he is but now I can barely keep my eyes away from his body.
A smirk grew back onto his face, “So it’s a deal,” he said putting out his hand for me to shake. I grabbed his hand in response.
How stupid can I be? I met this boy a few days ago and just agreed to go skinny dipping with him. “Well now tell why you laughed.”
“It’s just that you seemed more embarrassed by seeing me naked than I was. You’re just so innocent, it’s ador- darling,” He said correcting himself from when we talked yesterday and I wouldn’t accept adorable as a compliment.
“Stop calling me innocent,” I pushed his shoulder.
“Why?” He asked as I sat down against the wall and he sat next to me.
“Because it makes me feel like you see me as a little kid,” I said grumpily.
He laughed, “Trust me, I do not see you as a little kid. Just because you’re innocent doesn’t make you a kid, it just makes you- desirable.”
I didn’t know how to take that. Do I say thanks? No, that’s weird. Wait he just called me desirable. That means he’s attracted to me a lot, right?
“Desirable?” I repeated.
“Yes, very.”
