Love at the Lake

Fran's p.o.v.
I woke up to the sound of thunder. I hate bad weather although I plan on majoring in meteorology. So I see the movie is over and it's like 3:00 so we slept for a long time. Anyway so I make my way to the kitchen to fix me a glass of water. When I turn around I almost drop my water because there is a sleepy eyed Liam standing in the door way.
" did I wake you?" I ask.
" no but you should have." He replied.
" Liam why don't we go up to my room to talk so we don't wake up the others."

I shut the door and saw he had made himself comfy on my bed so I sat in the chair hanging from my ceiling. And he spoke first.
" what happened to your knee? What was 'the accident'? And why are you so closed off?" He asked all these questions that I couldn't answer.
" I can't answer any of those" I reply
" and why not?!" He is getting upset over nothing. Ugh I thought girls were drama. Lol. Just kidding. He's adorable when he is upset.
" because they go into some personal things."
" well you can tell me"
" Liam it's not that easy you don't know how this effected me."
" well duh I don't cause you won't tell me anything."
Silence fills the room as I think that I can't tell him I can't handle the sadness the memories bring with them. I hear Liam huffs and what he says next hurts.
" you know when you get ready to tell me what's going on and actually talk to me then I will come back but until then don't talk to me!" He gets up and starts toward the door.
" Liam wait" I say and he turns around and looks at me expectantly. I take a deep breathe.
" sit down." He sits back down onto the bed.
" I'll tell you " he looks at me with a small smile.
" ok so when I was 17 which was last year my cousin who has three small children asked me if I could pick them up from school and babysit until she got home. So I went and got Lilly and Lacey since. Lilly was 5 and Lacey was 6. So anyway we were on the way to their house when out of nowhere this 18 wheeler slammed into the side of the car. Luckily I had the passenger seat let all the way back so that when the truck hit the airbag didn't hit Lacey who was in the front and Lilly was behind her and the truck hit on my side." I pause wiping a stray tear that had slipped I took a quick look at Liam who was listening intently. "So anyway they were both jerked around a lot and Lilly wound up with a broken leg while Lacey had a broken left arm. So the truck hit my side directly at me, it shattered my left leg and messed up my knee they practically had to go in and rebuild my knee completely. Um.... I was crushed inside the car and couldn't move, I couldn't check on the girls, or help them get out. I could only just sit there and watch every thing unfold barley conscious, I then blacked out and the last thing I remember is hearing the girls crying and screaming for me to help them but I couldn't move, I would of helped if I could but I couldn't. So when I woke up I was in the hospital. I remember as soon as I woke up I asked how the girls were I was so worried. Anyway so after I found out they were ok only a broken bone each I asked about the extent of my injuries. They said I was lucky to be living, I had broken all my ribs and shattered my left leg and messed my knee up terribly my left arm was broken and I had punctured a lung. They said they had already taken me into surgery and repaired my lung and that they would have to take me back into surgery at a later point in time to repaired my leg and knee. I was in the hospital for a little over four months with rehab and everything at one point they thought I would possibly not be able to walk on that leg. But I couldn't let that happen because I had my entire college volleyball career ahead of me I was already being looked at by schools and I was looking forward to it. So Lacey and Lilly came to visit often and jenny would occasionally leave them with me by themselves and they would tell me how they nightmares of the crash and how vivid they were was so unnerving. Liam they had those nightmares every night for three months. Three months Liam!!!!! That was three months of their childhood that they would wake up screaming in the middle of the night because of the accident. Liam it was so bad that they had to go to psychologists to get over it. Those to beautiful girls are scarred for life because of me. I blame myself all the time for them having those nightmares and being so traumatized from it. That was three months of their childhood that they will never get back. It was all my fault everyone says it wasn't, but it was if I had just paid more attention or something. I'm just glad it didn't hit on their side because if they had be injured the way I was I wouldn't be able to live with my self. So that's what happened to my knee and the accident and I have just kinda always been closed off but it just got worse after that." I finish telling him the story with tears in my eyes and when I looked up at him he had tears streaming down his face he got up and came over to me wrapping me into a big bear hug. We stayed in each other's embrace for I don't know how long but I decided that we should go back downstairs with the others to see if they are awake yet. So I go wash my face quickly while Liam tries to compose himself before we go downstairs. When we got down there they are all awake with tears in their eyes.
" what happened to y'all?" I ask. At that point they all come give me a group hug. What is going on?
" what is wrong?" I ask.
" we listened to y'all's conversation through the vent and heard everything and we are so sorry" Harry explains.
" oh so that why y'all are upset. Guys listen even though I still blame myself doesn't mean I haven't moved on. No maybe I haven't completely moved on i am getting closer."
" we are all here for you" Niall says
" yeah " all the other guys say.
" is anyone else hungry?" I ask
" yes!" Everyone says. we all crowd into the kitchen and all pitch into the the preparation of the food. We then all sit down and enjoy a lovely meal of Mac and cheese, green beans, and fried chicken.
Lizzy's p.o.v.
I was so glad Fran finally shared her story although she only meant for Liam to hear but everyone else did. I could tell a difference I her automatically. It was like she was lighter she didn't have that baggage consumed to only her and me anymore. I am also glad all the guys were so understanding and compassionate especially Liam.
