Thumping music and flashing lights overwhelm me as soon as I step into the club. People are grinding on the dance floor and flirting at the bar. It's too crowded here but it is Mason's birthday. I promised Lilly that I'd be here, and I always keep my promises, so here I am. Speaking of Mason, I see him and Lilly dancing in the VIP section with some of their friends. Weaving through sweaty, dancing bodies, I finally make it over to them. Lilly stops dancing when she sees me and gives me a big hug.

"You came!" I pull back from her smiling.

"I said that I would didn't I?"

"Yeah but I wasn't sure. I know that you don't really like to go to clubs anymore since. . ." She trails off and gives me a sympathetic look. I paint a smile on my face and put my hands up in the air.

"Enough of that. We're here to celebrate Mason finally becoming a man! And where the hell is Lea?" Mason pretends to look hurt.

"Hey! Lea couldn't make it and I technically became a man when I turned 18, thank you very much."

"But now you're 21. Which means that you can legally buy alcohol, therefore you have become a man in my eyes." Lilly laughs and playfully hits my shoulder.

"Akira, stop tormenting my boyfriend. It's his birthday. I think that he deserves a little break." She gives him a passionate kiss. I pretend to gag.

"Ok, that's enough of that. Save it for when you get home, cause I know that you guys are probably gonna have crazy birthday sex." I say smiling. Lilly starts blushing and Mason grins. Bingo. Pulling Lilly with me, we head to the dance floor. "I have first dibs on Lilly" I yell to Mason.

"But she's my girlfriend!" He yells back. I just stick my tongue out at him and start dancing with Lilly. Not that gyrating/grinding thing that most people do. That would just be too weird with my best friend. We dance until we're all tired and sweaty then head back to the VIP section to sit with Mason. I feel like I'm gonna drop from exhaustion at any second.

"Done hogging my girlfriend yet?" Mason asks as we plop down beside him on the comfy couch. Wiping sweat from my forehead, I nod.

"She's yours for the rest of the night."

"Good." He takes her hand and leads her back onto the dance floor, ignoring her begs for a rest. As I watch them disappear into the crowd, I wipe some more sweat from my face and lay back on the couch. I feel all wet and sticky. It's straight to shower when I get home. Damn, I really need a drink. It's too hot in here. One of the club employees brings me a glass and I pour myself some of the champagne that is sitting in the ice bucket. It's so bubbly and refreshing! My muscles relax and my mind becomes fuzzy with each glass I drink. Soon half the bottle is gone and I'm feeling a little tipsy.

Ok, a lot tipsy.

I look around for Lilly and Mason, but I can't find them anywhere. They're probably in the bathroom making out or something. I'm not just gonna sit here by myself. That's just too boring. I think I'll just go dance. Yeah, that's what I'll do. What harm can it do? I make my way out onto the dance floor again and the DJ starts to play 'Stereo Hearts' by Gym Class Heroes. I sway my hips with the beat and sing along to the chorus.

After a while I feel someone's hands on my hips and a warm, solid body behind me. We dance through the rest of the song and couple more fast ones, but then my partner slows it down a little when 'Forever Young' by Alphaville starts to play. I hear him sing along to it by my ear.

Wait a minute. I know that voice! I turn and hug My partner tightly.

"Alex! What are you doing here?"

"Lilly invited me, no thanks to you."

"I thought that you had to work today, but it's a good thing that you came. Now I can get as wasted as I want to and not have to worry about driving home!" I grin

"Who said that I was driving you home? What if I wanted to get wasted tonight?" I just laugh.

"Sweetie, you always take me home whether you're drunk or not. Besides, I'm not gonna get wasted tonight either way it goes," Walking off the dance floor, I make a beeline for the bar. He frowns.

"Fine. You know that if you weren't my best friend, I would have left you, right?" He sits on the stool next to me. I nod happily and signal the bartender.

"Can I have one Sex On The Beach please?" I say to the bartender. "You want anything, Alex?" He sighs.

"Just a Samuel Adams." I smile. That's my boy. The bartender slides Alex his Samuel Adams and starts mixing my drink.

"So do you have a girlfriend yet?" I ask him as I wait for my drink to be finished. He shakes his head.

"No, not yet."
"What?! You should have girls lined up at your door begging to go out with you. You're like, the perfect package. Smart, funny, faithful, sweet, caring, good-looking and you're the manager at McDonalds. I don't know about everyone else, but the free food is the deal breaker for me."

"It's not that girls don't want to go out with me. Believe me, they've asked. There's just this one girl that I have had my eye on for a long time. The problem is she doesn't know that I like her." He likes someone? And he didn't tell me?!

"We'll, what's she like? Who is she? Does she go to our university? Maybe I can hook you guys up!" He gets this intense look in his eyes.

"To start, she's absolutely beautiful. She's strong, smart, funny, kinda arrogant, cocky, confident, feisty but also caring. Yes, she does go to our university and we have the same classes together. She has long wavy black hair and these incredible bright blue eyes. She has a dog that she spoils and is very protective of her." He continues. Wait a minute, that sounds like..."And I'm talking to her right now."

Holy. Shit. It's me. Alex likes me. How did this happen? For how long has he felt this way about me and I was just to stupid to notice?

"M-me?" Geez, now I'm stuttering. He nods and watches for my reaction. Of course he's talking about me. Who else is he talking to at this bar? I don't even feel tipsy anymore. Not one bit. What should I say?

"Hey, Mystery Girl! Remember Me?!" I turn to see who's speaking to me. Thank God! I've never been so happy to see a someone in my life. I quickly get up and hug Johnny Depp Hair. I really need to find out what his name is. I let go of him at introduce him to Alex.

"Hey! You guys ready to go?" As I turn away from Alex, I mouth the words 'help me' to him. He gives a slight nod and puts on a smile.

"Yeah, the boys want to stay here a little longer though so it's just me and you tonight." I have no clue where this is going, but I play along with it.

"Ok, that's fine. Let's move out!" I wave goodbye to Alex. "We'll talk later, ok? Tell Lilly that I'll call her tomorrow!" I get out of there as fast as I can, but not before I see Alex's heartbroken face staring after me.

Not sure where this is going but here's the fifth chapter. My brother was being an ass last night and hogged the computer last night. I know it's late, so I'm just gonna stop making promises that I can't keep. No one likes those type of people.
