Love & Betrayal

Paris

April. It was finally April. It had been two months since the Grammy’s and everything was going perfectly. Harry and I had celebrated my 21st birthday shortly after coming home from LA. We also celebrated our one year anniversary. I couldn’t believe we had survived a year. We had been up and down so many times I was sure we wouldn’t make it but we did. Harry and I were so in sync it was unreal. Work was still as busy as usual; it was award season so Harry understood.

He had just come back from his trip to England that I got him for his birthday. I was supposed to go with him but with the workload I had, I just couldn’t. I felt so bad because it was supposed to be our little getaway and I missed his family terribly.

He was mad at me for the first couple days he was there but eventually got over it understanding that work is more important than vacations. I had reminded him that we also had a trip to Paris coming up, so he realized he was being a little over dramatic. It wasn’t like I never talked to his family, and I was going to see them when I came over for a show they were doing in London.

We were currently on said flight to Paris. I told work I had to go for this, there was no way I was missing this. We were only going to be gone for 4 days, work could handle themselves. I sighed looking out the window, unintentionally catching Harry’s attention.

“What’s up babe?” he leaned over.

“Nothing, I’m just content.” I smiled.

And that was the truth. I was content with everything currently in my life. I was happy with my job. I was slowly climbing my way to the top. I felt like so much good had come from going and speaking at the Grammy’s. The demand for dresses by both Igor and me rose tremendously. I was looking at my options of starting my own line and branching out on my own, or staying with Igor. I adored Igor and his crew and work to death but I felt like I was at a point where I could make it on my own. I had made a great name for myself in the fashion world and wanted to jump at the chance to become my own ‘Igor’.

My family and I were on great terms. I talked to them every day. I had never felt so close with them. My relationship with all of my friends was great as well. Emily was in Canada visiting her family with Louis, Rachel was still trying to convince Liam to announce their engagement, 6 months later, so she could wear her gorgeous ring, Kasi was still dating Tim and was falling madly in love with him, Ana was still working hard in school while interning at one of the worlds most renowned law firms, Lucy was spending every minute she could with Calum before the tour started and despite Harry’s disapproval, I had been occasionally hanging out with Ella because she was filming a movie in NYC.

I was happy with my relationship. We were in a good place. I know we’re young, but Harry was it. I couldn’t even imagine being with someone else ever, and Harry knew it. Harry hadn’t proposed or anything like everyone had kept suggesting he was going to, but that didn’t matter. Ashton seemed to think it was coming from what he had told me after the Grammy’s, the guys all seemed to know something was up when I talked to them, Ryanne said she couldn’t wait for me to finally visit Paris, and my dad even called me specifically to wish me well on the trip, not a typical dad move. I wasn’t rushing a proposal but I certainly wouldn’t be mad if it happened on this trip. After coming to the realization that I wanted to marry Harry, I felt like it could literally happen at any moment. Harry was always one for surprises and this would be one I didn’t mind.

“Earth to Spencer?” Harry said with a chuckle in his voice.

“Sorry, I zoned out thinking about life.” I sighed.

“All good things I hope?” he eyed me.

“Yes, how could I not be thinking of good things when I’m on a plane to Paris with my beyond amazing boyfriend?” I smiled, leaning into Harry.

“You’re the one who planned all this! So it should be me who’s super happy.” He smiled back.

“I booked us a flight and hotel, nothing while we’re there. So I hope this is a good trip.”

“Oh it’ll be a good trip.” Harry smiled. “Paris with my girlfriend? Yeah, good trip.”

“Not to mention, I packed some pretty nice things to sleep in.” I wiggled my eyebrows.

“Spencer Delaney, stop it.” he eyed me seriously.

“You know Harry, we never have…” I paused trying to think of an appropriate way to say what I was thinking in case anyone was listening to us. “Done it…on an airplane. We aren’t part of the mile high club.”

“Babe, we’ll save that for a private jet so we don’t have to squeeze into a small bathroom. Don’t even worry.”

“Oh good idea.” I smirked.

“Babe, I’m the smart one, you’re the hot one.” He joked, I swatted his chest playfully. “You’re right, you’re everything and I’m just lucky.”

“I think I’m lucky.” I smiled, pressing my lips to his.

“I can’t wait to land and see what good things you’ve packed now. We may never leave our hotel, that’ll definitely be a trip I wouldn’t forget.”

“Can we at least see the Eiffel Tower? Then we can shag senseless for the rest of the trip.” I laughed.

“Deal.” He smirked, sealing it with a kiss.

Two hours, that’s all I had left between landing and being in Paris with Harry. I smiled at the thought as I glanced out the window. Two hours.

---------------------------------------------------

(Harry POV)

Today was our second full day, technically third day, in Paris. The first night our plane had landed pretty late so we just went to the hotel. Yesterday, I had every intention of proposing when we visited the Eiffel Tower but I chickened out. It didn’t feel right. I wanted it to be perfect. I had been carrying the ring around with me waiting to do it, but I haven’t. I had to do today or I’d miss my chance. Spencer had been going on about visiting some wall with locks placed all along it. She said it was romantic, so I figured I’d try my luck there. We were strolling hand in hand down the street and I couldn’t be happier. I looked down at Spencer, smiling brightly.

“What?” she giggled as I pulled her in close.

“I love you.” I smiled.

“I love you too.” she leaned up, pecking my lips.

“So where are we going again?”

“Maybe if you’d listen instead of trying to fuck me senseless in the elevator you’d know!” she huffed. She was so cute when she was irritated at me. But who could blame me, she’s perfect.

“I’m sorry babe, you’re just so amazing. And you look wicked hot today, plus I’m still rowdy from last night.” I chuckled. Even she couldn’t help but laugh. Last night had been some of the best sex we had ever had; it crossed the line from sex to love instantly, but also stayed a bit rough. It was perfect. If it wasn’t sex, I would have proposed to her after we finished, but that wasn’t Harry Styles’ style.

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes. “We’re going to the bridge full of love locks. It’s basically just a bridge that people hook a lock onto with their significant other and write their names or initials on the lock.”

“Sounds romantic.” I smiled. “But I didn’t bring a lock.”

“I have one.” She smiled up at me. “And a sharpie.”

“You’re always so prepared, I love you.” I smiled.

“See, you bring the condoms, and I bring the mushy romantic stuff.” She poked me in the side.

“I’m pretty sure you packed the condoms babe. They were in your suitcase.” I pushed.

“Harold.” She rolled her eyes. “You know what I mean.”

“Sex isn’t the only thing on my mind baby.” I chuckled.

“I know, but I was just trying to joke around!” she seemed upset. I pulled her to a stop and looked at her.

“What’s wrong?” I said.

“Nothing!” She almost shouted.

“You’re lying.” I stated flatly. We’ve been together over a year and she still thinks she can get away with it.

“Do you love me?” she blurted out.

“Yes, to the moon and back. Are you worried I don’t love you?”

“No. I just…never mind. I love you too.” She said.

I nodded, not completely satisfied with her answer but continued to walk. I wound our fingers together just like we had been before. I could get used to Paris especially with Spencer by my side. It was beautiful. The people seemed happier than ever and no one cared what we were doing. It was busy but I loved it. I’m glad she chose here to visit before tour.

Tour. I don’t even want to think about tour. Two weeks after we get back to NYC I have to leave for England again. Rehearsals start and then the tour take off right from there. I was dreaded being away from Spencer for so long, especially fresh into the engagement. I was hoping she’d say yes, I don’t see why she wouldn’t. She was the one who said she wanted to get married herself. Hell, I could have proposed and been married to her by now if I had my way.

I had gone to visit her father one day while she was at work. I sat down and had a nice long conversation with him about this. He said we may be young, but we’re right for each other and if that’s something you find, no matter your age, you make it yours forever. I wasn’t going to find another spencer. That was for damn sure. He had granted me permission to ask her Spencer’s hand in marriage. I had no words to describe how I was feeling in that moment, almost as if she had agreed to marry me. Only a few other people knew I was going to propose while here. Ashton, the lads, my family and Ryanne. They all had kept their mouths shut which I couldn’t thank them enough for.

We took a few more turns and walked a couple more blocks before we reached this bridge. It was incredible. There had to be thousands of locks all hooked up on the fencing of the bridge. I smiled as we walked along it. Spencer’s grip on my hand tightened as we came to a stop in front of an open section.

“Here?” I asked.

“I think so.” She smiled up at me.

She fetched the lock out of her bag, smiling like an idiot the entire time. Of course, I was probably smiling like an idiot as well.

“Can we do it together?” she asked, timidly.

“Yes.” I kissed the top of her head as she stood in front of me. I reached my hands around her, holding hers in mine. Together we looped the lock around the fence chain and latched it shut. It was just a lock and it was just a bridge, but something about the gesture made me feel so connected to Spencer. She loved me enough to permanently hook a lock of our love around a bridge for every person passing to see.

“What should we put on it?” she asked, holding the sharpie.

“I’ll write your name, you write mine.” I suggested. She nodded happily handing me the marker. I smiled as I took the lock into my fingers, opening the pen.

Spencer Delaney McMichael’ I wrote in my neatest handwriting. Under her name she put a small + and then moved below that. ‘Harold Edward Styles’ she wrote neat as ever. She made half a heart and handed me the marker back. I knew what she wanted; I didn’t even need to ask. I finished the heart, making it completely lopsided. But it worked, it was us. We weren’t perfect and neither was our lock.

“Could we take a picture?” she asked, she suddenly was acting so shy. Maybe she was feeling the same way I was, like this was connecting us in a way greater than we had previously been. I knew in this moment I was going to propose tonight. Not right now, this moment was about our lock and love; I wanted to create a whole new memory for the engagement.

“With the lock in the background?” I asked. She nodded eagerly, taking her phone out. We stood on either side of the lock, making sure you could read it properly. I grabbed her hand and held the lock with my fingers. She got the hint and grabbed a little too. We smiled like idiots as she snapped the picture.

This moment was probably the cheesiest moment in my entire life, but it was also one of my happiest, until later.

“It’s perfect.” She smiled, showing me the picture.

“You’re perfect.” I said.

“Harry, I love you.” she smiled up at me as she tucked her phone into her pocket.

I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her in tight. I didn’t care who was watching. We weren’t the only ones making out on this bridge. I placed my lips to hers and couldn’t help but smile. She was mine and I was hers. Forever.

-----------------------------------

(After dinner, same night as bridge- Harry POV still)

We were walking around the city after dinner. Today had been flawless so far. Spencer had mentioned a park we had passed earlier and we were on our way to it. It was going to be the perfect place to pop the question. I was getting so nervous. I could feel my heart beating out of my chest and my palms turning into sweat balls. The smile engraved permanently on my face probably made me look mad. But I didn’t care.

We had found the park and were just strolling around. I was scoping out the scene looking for a perfect place to ask. I saw a lake in the middle of the park with a gazebo strung with lights. I couldn’t have planned that better.

“Let’s go down there.” I nodded towards the lake. She nodded as we made our way over.

“This place is gorgeous.” She smiled up at me as we walked into the small gazebo.

“Just like you.” I chuckled.

I was nervous. I had never been more nervous in my entire life. I wasn’t his nervous auditioning for the X Factor, I wasn’t this nervous for my first concert, I wasn’t even this nervous when I ‘casually’ bumped into Spencer on the street. I had never been so nervous. I was freaking out. I played shows for sold out audiences in arenas that held 70,000 screaming fans. And here I was freaking out.

“Oh Harry stop.” Spencer said, leaning against the railing facing away from me.

I walked up behind her, placing my hands on either side of her body on the railing. I leaned my head on her shoulder as I spoke.

“You know, I’m never going to stop. I’m going to tell you gorgeous for the rest of your life, no matter how many times you tell me to stop.”

“Okay babe. Whatever you say.” She said, looking at the water.

“I’m not joking babe.” I said seriously. She half turned her head to meet mine.

“I believe you.”

“Do you know the day we met; I never expected to fall in love so hard? I figured you’d grow tired of me and dump me because I’m never around. Hell, I’m just happy you didn’t think I was a stalker or something.” She laughed along with me. I flipped her around to face me. “Spencer, there comes a time in everyone’s life where they realize things. I happened to realize a long time ago that I wanted to spend my life tied to the one person I love. You. I want to share the remainder of One Directions tour with you, I want to share the excitement of you starting your own company, I want to share the proud moment of my first born child with you, I want to share the happiness of my second child with you, or however many kids you want, I want to be by your side for your 30th birthday, and your 40th and 50th, Damnit I want to be the one to plan your 90th birthday party.” She looked up at me unsure where I was going.

I knelt down onto one knee, holding her hands tightly. “A little over a year ago a girl came into my life and flipped it upside down. She taught me how to love properly, keep my apartment clean,” that earned a chuckle, “And how to deal with issues when times get tough. She stayed with me through fights and world tours. I couldn’t imagine doing any of those things without her. Spencer, you’ve made me the happiest person I could possibly be in this last year. I’m a better person when you’re by my side. My heart still races when you walk into the same room as me, there’s no one else I want to fall asleep next to and surely no one else I want to wake up too. I know that can’t always happen because we’re not in the same city, hell sometimes we aren’t even on the same continent. But none of that changes how I feel about you. you’re my world, my number fan and biggest supporter but most of all you’re the love of my life.” she had tears running down her face at this point, I couldn’t even help but to feel a bit choked up. “Will you do me the honor of making the luckiest and happiest man in the world? Spencer Delaney McMichael, will you marry me?” I said, opening the box I had pulled from my pocket half way through my spiel. I hadn’t planned anything to say so I just went with what felt right.

“Oh my god.” She said, covering her mouth with her hand. “Harry, yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!”

I quickly hopped up off my knee and engulfed her in the biggest hug I’ve ever given. I took a step back looking her tear filled eyes with my own. I took the ring out of the box and slid it onto her left ring finger. I smiled at her hand like an idiot. It looked perfect. The stone was a little big for her tiny fingers but it looked flawless on her. I kissed her with everything I had inside of me. She was mine. I knew that without the ring, she was also mine but this just proved how much we really loved each other. She held it up and inspected it herself after I broke off our kiss.

“This is too big Harry.” she giggled.

“No, it’s not. It’s perfect for you.”

“I don’t even need to ever get a wedding band. I could just wear this forever.”

“I hope you do.” I smiled down at her.

She began to take it off and hand it back to me. My heart froze.

“People will see.” She said. “I don’t know.”

“Spencer, I told management I was doing it. They know, I’m not pulling a Liam. I want the world to know you’re my girl forever.”

“So I can wear it?” she smiled ear to ear at me.

“You can shout it at every person we pass on the way back to the hotel!” I said with a chuckle.

“We’re going back to the hotel? It’s barely 9.” She pouted. I gave her a stern look. “OHHHHHHHHHHHH. YES HOTEL PLEASE.”

I laughed as she caught on to my drift. “That’s what I thought.”

I stopped her from walking, pulling her into my body. I placed my hands on either side of her face and kissed her. I let my lips linger a touch longer than normal. She smiled into the kiss causing me to smile too. I was on cloud nine and she seemed to be right there with me. I interlocked our hands as we began our trek back to the hotel.

“Do you mind if I call people, in case the paparazzi are still outside the hotel, so they hear it from us, not the news?” she asked. I nodded; I wanted her to tell everyone. She pulled out her phone, punching in a number, bringing the phone to her ear. She half turned to the side so I could see her left hand holding the phone. “How’s it look?” she beamed.

“Perfect, Mrs. Styles.” I chuckled. I heard someone answer the phone, Spencer’s face lit up.

“I’M ENGAGED!” she shouted. I heard a faint scream on the other end. “TELL RY AND DAD!” it was definitely her mother. I should probably call mine, even though she knew I was going to do it. I told my family when I visited them a couple weeks ago.

She nodded intently as her mom talked her ear off. I chuckled as she handed the phone to me. “Hello?”

“HARRY I’M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!” I heard her mom say through sniffles.

“Thanks Cee. You’re daughter makes me the happiest man alive.” I smiled, placing a kiss on Spencer’s temple.

“I know it dear. I know it.” Cee Cee said with a sigh. Spencer took the phone from me without even letting me say goodbye.

“Harry says bye mom, I have to call other people.” She said quickly. “Love you bye.”

I watched as Spencer dialed another number. “I’M GONNA BE MRS. HARRY STYLES!” she shouted at whoever this was. I heard muffled squealing and cheering. “He just did it!” Spencer said. “Okay love you bye!”

“Who was that? Kasi and Ana on three way.” She smiled.

“Emily next?” I asked.

She nodded, holding the phone up to hear ear again. I heard a deep voice answer the phone but couldn’t tell what he said.

“YES HE DID! YOU KNEW YOU TWAT!” Spencer shouted with a smile on her face. “GIVE EM THE PHONE LOU!” she groaned but handed me the phone.

“Yeah?” I asked.

“Dude, I didn’t think you were going to do it. Thanks for putting the pressure on me man, I’ve been with Emily twice as long. With Spencer and Rachel engaged I’m bound to be suckered into it!” Louis ranted. I went to talk but he kept going. “Just great, I’m not ready to get married! What the fuck! We need to find Nialler and Zayn some serious girlfriends so the spotlight isn’t on me getting married next. Fuck.”

“Louis, no one is making you propose.” I chuckled, earning a snort from Spencer.

“I know, I’m happy for you man. Really, I am.” He sighed. “Here’s Emily give the phone to Spencer.”

I handed the phone back to Spencer and watched as she animatedly talked to Emily. She hung up with phone after a short bit, promising she only had three more calls to make. I nodded, letting her do her thing. I had seen Spencer happy, but never this happy. I was ecstatic that I was the one who put her in such a mood.

“Hi babes, guess who you can plan a wedding with?” she smiled. Rachel. “YESSSSS!” she shouted. “Tonight, he just did it!” I watched her face light up even more. “Okay loves you.”

She hung up and smiled at me. “I’m sorry I haven’t even talked to you. I promise two more!”

I nodded but was caught off guard as she pulled my face to hers. It was a quick but very hot kiss she left on my lips. She pulled back going to her, leaving me wanting more, like usual.

“Hi! Guess what?!” she smiled up at me. “HARRY PROPOSED! AHHHHHH I KNOW!” I chuckled at her enthusiasm, I wish I could have this much happiness over it. I’d probably just shoot the guys a group text and call my mum in the morning. I just wanted to get my hot girlfriend…I mean fiancée home and shag her into next week. Well, tomorrow because that’s when our flight leaves.

“Last one!” I hadn’t even noticed she finished her previous conversation, lost in my thought of sex.

“Okay, no worries.”

“Hello. He did it.” she paused; I could tell it was a guy this time around. “Yes! I know, I owe you. Okay here he is!”

“Yeah?” I said, who could it possibly be.

“MATE! My dude, you did it. That’s great.” I heard him say.

“Thanks Ash.” I chuckled.

“You know the lads didn’t think you were going to, so we bet on it. They all owe 50.” I could tell he was smiling. I heard fumbling and a new voice.

“You really did it?” Calum sighed.

“Yes man, I did it.” I chuckled.

“Fuck!” he groaned. “But congrats, seriously we all love Spencer.”

“Thanks Cal. Here’s Spencer.” I said handing her the phone back.

“Thanks!” she smiled. “And no I promise, I won’t put any ideas into her brain. I already told her.” she laughed. “No, no. EW! Calum Hood!” she laughed more. “Bye.”

“What did he say?”

“Verbatim ‘don’t let him stick it up your arse just cause you have a ring on your finger now, let him do it because you love him’. He’s so sick!” she rolled her eyes.

“He’s something else.” I chuckled.

“So I can post this on social media because you told management?” she asked, a devious look on her face.

“Yes, if you want.” I laughed.

She nodded, opening Instagram. She held her finger up, focusing on the ring and letting the street become her blurry background. It was a gorgeous picture. She wasn’t in it, but she didn’t have to be. The ring sat beautifully on her hand and the city street out of focus really was an artistic touch.

I watched her type the caption to the picture. It was simple yet effective.

Instagram: ‘Paris @harrystyles’

I smiled as she pressed post. The world knew now. There was no going back on it, not that I ever would. Neither of us could wipe the shit eating grins off of our faces as we walked hand in hand back to the hotel. We’d stop and make out and then walk some more only to stop and kiss again. I was seriously the luckiest man in the world. I had a great life. Good job, great family and an even better girl. What more does a guy need? Oh yeah, to properly break in the title of fiancé on the day he’s proposed. Let’s just say, Spencer wasn’t going to disappoint. She never does, regardless of the occasion. But tonight, it was going to be just right. I loved her. I loved my life. Nothing could possibly go wrong from here on out. Nothing at all.

I love this story but spencer is a terrible person she's basically cheated on Harry three times, lies about her drug use and hangs out with people she knows he doesn't like and basically can't trust herself with other guys when he isn't around! Yet she blames him for being jealous and overprotective she's a slut tbh
