Perfectly Entwined

six!

“The buildings are red with white doorways,” Penelope reminded Harry.

He laughed, “I know. You’ve told me like a billion times!”

“Not in the last five minutes, I haven’t.”

“I’m almost there,” his voice was reassuring. “Just breathe, Nell. The GPS says three minutes.”

Penelope panicked quietly to herself, holding her phone away from her mouth as she breathed deeply. She and Harry had been talking on the phone since she dropped Charlotte off the previous day. They were texting, but Harry accidentally called Penelope. She asked if he wanted to hang up and go back to texting, but he said he liked hearing her voice. She blushed and told him that she liked hearing his voice too. And ever since then they’ve only been off of the phone for six of the past twenty two hours. They talked about things and people they loved as well as complete nonsense. The nonsense seemed to be their favorite parts. It was almost two o’clock before they had to hang up because One Direction was to do a radio interview early in the morning. Even then, Harry called her as soon as the interview was over. The puppy love was out and in full effect. Penelope could hardly wait for him to show up.

She looked into the mirror in her living room. Harry had only seen her without makeup. Clearly, he didn’t mind her without makeup, but she felt better about herself when she wore it. So, for a better part of the morning, Penelope struggled to find the balance between natural and glamor makeup. She also wanted to look appropriate for a match day. She wore a black North Face jacket that her brother got her earlier that year and a Manchester United scarf along with skinny jeans and classic black vans. Her heart beat fast as she flipped her hair over to one side, waiting for Harry to arrive.

“Are those red buildings I see?” He gasped in fake shock. “With white doorways as well? Nell, I didn’t get lost!”

Penelope grabbed her bag off of the couch and made sure everything she needed was inside. “I’m so proud of you! Get up here!” There was a knock on the door. “That was qui--” she opened the door and before she could finish her sentence, Harry stormed through the door, lifting her off her feet. She squealed and giggled for him to put her down. Harry set Penelope back on her feet and closed the door behind him. He kissed her cheek before pulling away. Both of them finally turned off their phones.

“Wow,” Harry said looking at her. He seemed completely taken aback.

She immediately turned insecure and reached up to fix her hair, “What?”

“You just look really... beautiful.” He said laughing nervously. Penelope looked skeptical. “I’m serious. You do.”

“Well, thank you,” she kissed his cheek again. “You look really cute too.”

He scrunched his face up with a smile, pretending to be embarrassed. “Oh stop it, you flirt!”

"You're so silly!" Penelope laughed. She poked both his cheeks before lifting her bag onto her shoulder.

"You ready?" He asked hooking his arm with hers.

She took her phone off of it's charger, "Yes! I'm so excited! You have no idea!" They walked out the door. She locked the door from the inside and closed it before they walked down the stairs.

"It's cool that I get to take you to your first United game." Harry smiled as he walked to the passenger's side of the car and opened the door for Penelope.

"Aww, look at you being all sweet."

"I do what I can," he said as he closed the door for her. Harry got in on the driver's side and started the car. "We have like twenty minutes. The guys are already waiting at the station."

"It's okay, its close to here."

The pair got out of the car frantically. "Shit, we're gonna be late!" Harry laughed as he grabbed Penelope's hand running toward the underground.

Penelope was right, the tube wasn't too far away from her house, but since it was the opposite direction as her route to work, she didn't know about the construction being done on the main road, which caused detours, which caused traffic. Now they had about three to five minutes to find their train. As they approached the entrance, they could see Louis, Eleanor, Liam, Danielle, Niall, and Zayn, whose girlfriend couldn't make it, waiting inside.

Liam was hanging up his phone, "I was just about to call! Where were you?"

"We'll explain later! Run!" Harry said tugging his friend's shirt as he ran past them.

The group bum rushed their way through the crowd as politely as possible. They all got in front of different gates so they had a better chance at getting through faster. Once they were all swiped through, Louis took his girlfriend's hand and yelled, "It's to the left!"

"We've got one minute!" Zayn yelled running in the front.

"I see it!" Niall shouted pointing at their train. They all slowed down so they didn't knock anyone over while getting on.

"You said you were five minutes away twenty minutes ago," Zayn laughed making his way to the back where there was more space. The train was just starting to move. "What happened?"

"The road was blocked so we had to take like seven detours. I'm shocked we didn't end up somewhere in Italy." Harry walked through the crowd still holding Penelope's hand.

A random old man in a seat they were passing commented, "The sodding half-wits should know better than to have construction out on a match day. It was utter chaos on the motorway."

"Are you going to the game as well?" Penelope asked the man.

He scoffed, "Of course I am! Haven't missed a Trafford match in years."

"That's amazing," Harry said. "You know, this is Penelope's first match."

"Well, I trust you're rooting for the right team judging by your lovely scarf," He smiled. "You'll have a great time. Every United fan should go to a game At least once."

"You know what you should do," Eleanor reached into her purse. "You should paint your face with Danielle and I."

Penelope gasped, "That would be great." She was excited that the girls were accepting her. She was a little worried that she wouldn't fit in or they wouldn't like her so it made her really happy to see how sweet they are.

"Come over here so we can do you," Danielle said with a sweet smile. She could tell that Penelope was nervous. All of the boys smiled at each other, raising their eyebrows as Penelope joined the other girls. "What?" Danielle asked, noticing all the stares.

"'Come over here so we can do you!'" Niall said mocking her voice.

Louis laughed, "It's like every dream I've ever had." Eleanor shoved him playfully. Liam secretly gave him a high five.

"I'd pay to see it," Niall wiggled his eyebrows nudging Harry who made a silly face, agreeing with his friend.

"Not shocking," Danielle hit the brim of Niall's cap. "Ignore them they're all idiots." Liam pouted at her, "Except you. You're the best." She leaned over and pecked her boyfriend's lips. "I'm Danielle by the way."

"And I'm Eleanor."

"It's nice to meet you. I'm Penelope," She smiled and hugged the girls.

"So do you want half gold, half red or half red and gold stripes?" Eleanor asked holding up the face paint.

There were ten minutes left in the match and Manchester United tied Chelsea, two points each. The play has been pretty even as far as possession, but the referees were being completely biased and making calls to favor Chelsea side.

"I can't believe this," Liam shook his head. "They're throwing out yellow cards like they're hot cakes."

"We'll come back from it," Harry said confidently. "We've come back from worse and in less time."

"Wouldn't it be sick if Rooney got the hat trick?" Zayn anxiously tapped the barrier in front of them.

Louis took a sip of his beer, "Nobody's going to get anything if the fucking refs keep making these ridiculous calls."

"Well I think Van Persie can make it happen," Penelope suggested.

Niall agreed, "The man is an animal."

Just then, Robin Van Persie, a forward for United, was about to take a corner kick. The crowd was roaring. "Oh, Robin Van Persie!" They all chanted. Niall and Louis held up their beers. Penelope and Harry had their arms around one another as they jumped up and down. The entire crowd clapped their hands in anticipation. Robin Van Persie ran up to the corner and booted the ball to the center. Rooney almost got a header to put it in but only tapped it. Danny Welbeck recovered the ball, cut back to escape his defender and crossed the ball over to Van Persie who, with one touch, put the ball into the back of the net. The stands went ballistic. Harry and Penelope jumped up and down and then, quite spontaneously, they kissed. It wasn't a peck. It was intense and real. He held her face in has hands and her hands rested on his chest.

"Yeah, Penelope!" Danielle cheered. Eleanor and the boys stopped clapping for Manchester United and started cheering for Harry and Penelope as well.

The pair pulled apart and smiled at one another sitting back down. Both of them started laughing when Harry looked at his hands realizing that Penelope's face paint was all over them. They kissed again quickly and she handed him her napkins to wipe his hands off. Harry cleaned off his hands, put his arm around Penelope and gave everyone cheeky high fives behind Penelope's back. She just shook her head. She laced her fingers with the hand that was around her shoulder. That is until the referees added five minutes injury time onto the clock and Harry, Liam, Louis, Zayn, and Niall all shot out of their seats swearing.
