Over Again
1
"Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
We're the best of friends
Insisting that the world keep turning our way
And our way
is on the road again.
Just can't wait to get on the road again.
The life I love is makin' music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again.
And I can't wait to get on the road again."
I finished singing, slinging my guitar around my back so I could wave. Kaelynn and Aimee followed me, Aimee started jumping up and down, hands flying every where and her tongue sticking out at the crowd. Once into our dressing room, we started buzzing.
"Oh. My. God!" Aimee screamed.
"Our first concert was a blast! Do you think they liked it?" Kaelynn said quietly, a small smile on her lips. The door burst open.
"Good news girls! THEY LOVED IT!" Our manager threw his hands in the air, in almost a jazz-hand-y motion. "Get dressed girls! You have a conference in fifteen!" He called behind him as he closed the door again. All our eyes were wide.
"Yes, Kaelynn. I do believe they liked it." I answered her, turning to smile at her, only to see her face full of happy tears. Aimee rushed to her and began to laugh, comforting her sister. See, Aimee and Kaelynn are twins, both of them dye their hair to give them some difference. They were tighter than our fashion stylists pants.
We all got dressed, me differently than them. They looked great, both of them in the same dress but different colors, and the same shoes and makeup. I, on the other hand, looked awful. I planned on taking a long run after the meeting, to help work out my jitters and nerves. Needless to say, when we walked into the conference room, me much farther behind them, it shocked me to see there were other people there. Aimee and Kaelynn played it cool. They waved, and sat down. But me? I was wearing short that had half my ass hanging out. No, I was not cool. One of them was eyeing my butt, whispering crude comments to his friend, so I whipped around and stuck my finger in his chest.
"Keep your eyes to yourself." I growled, digging my finger further into his shirt.
"Yes ma'am." He mumbled, his face heating up. His friends burst into laughter, pointing at him and falling off their chairs.
"Attention please." Our manager, John, commanded. All the laughing died down. "Thank you." I shot another glare at the boys, they looked really familiar. "Girls, boys, you better get used to each other. All of you will be living in two tour buses for the next year and a half. Ladies, meet One Direction." It hit me. "One Direction, meet Ladies." The blow was so real it could almost knock me out of my chair.
"Holy shit." All eyes landed on me, in my NIKE gear and cute hair and fluttery eyelids. I bet that was the last thing they expected me to say. "Harry Styles totally just checked out my butt." Kaelynn and Aimee's eyes were wide, and giggles escaped their lips. "Oh my god." I stiffened, my head moving back, and disgust taking over my face. "Harry Styles just ogled my ass." Aimee bust into laughter, four out of five boys following suit. Kaelynn sat behind me, staring at Harry. She looked murderous. He sat there, a pleased look on his face.
"And I'd gladly do it again." I stood up abruptly, halting the laughter.
"I can't work with him!" I never broke eye contact with John while pointing at the curly haired perv.
"Good thing you won't have to then Poppy. You're just driving with them. You have no shows with them. You work for the same company who just happened to put you all on the same tour schedule." I dropped my hand to my hip.
"Aw. Honey, HELL NO." I snapped, stepping closer to him. "Son, you better be prepared for some major law suites and thousands of restraining orders cause there ain't no way in hell I'm going all over the world with him in close proximity."
"Aw, girl, hell no. there ain't no way I'm letting you." He imitated me. Harry tried to hide his chuckles. I straightened my back, popping joints echoed in the silent room. If looks could kill.
"Excuse me, I'm sorry sir." I apologized through gritted teeth. "I need to go. Now." My words were slow and pained, dripping with venom. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I turned to my girls. "Bye ladies, I'll see you both later." my feet turned to the boys. I opened my mouth to say something, probably rude, but closed it again. I brought my hand up into a small wave. Once again, four out of five responded with cheery smiles and waves.
A chorus of 'bye Poppy's echoed down the hall after me as I sprinted down it. I took the stairs four at a time, nearly cutting my heel on every step. I slid my headphones over my ears, plugging the cord into my phone. I pushed through the doors and continued my sprint down the side walk and around the corner, not stopping my death pace till I was five miles from the building. I stopped, panting for breath. Sweat dripped down my back, chest, arm, legs, and everywhere really. I put my hands on my hips, shaking my head to shake out my ponytail, which was also dripping in sweat.
"I just can't even-" I leaned against a tree. "What a jerk." I laid my head back. "He's such a-"
"Hey Poppy!" A voice called. "Fancy seeing you here." Harry jogged up next to me. "You're pretty fast." he smirked.
"You're pretty dumb." I replied, getting ready to run again.
"Well that's not a nice thing to say." his stupid face with his stupid smirk still plastered on like Barbie.
"Really? I had no clue. Hopefully my ass is better than my manners." I jogged off once more, leaving him in a stunned silence.
