Clarity's mother seemed completely and udderly confused. "Why, honey? We moved away from America so you could get away from all those mean people, why would you ever want to go back? What about those friends you've made?"
Clarity sniffled. "Those aren't real friends, mom. and the bullying has followed me, to a whole different country, too." Clarity's mother was shocked, because Clarity had seemed fine at school.
"Mom, I'm nineteen, okay?" Her mother nodded. "I'm still in high school. Do you know how sad that is? I was supposed to graduate, two years ago."
"You just have a slower-"
"No, Mom. I want to lea-" the doorbell rang. Clarity ran up to her room, slamming the door while her mother got the door. She could hear the murmur of voices, then the stepping of feet.
Someone knocked on the door.
"Leave me alone, Niall!" She stuffed her face into a pillow. Clarity heard a female voice, and one she already knew.
"It's not Niall, Clarity." Clarity heard the door open, and she stood up.
"Layna?"
