A Boy and His Guitar
Fourteen
"Clarity, please," Niall and Jessie begged. They were on their knees on the concrete sidewalk. Clarity just shook her head and looked away.
This was ridiculous! Clarity hadn't spoken in weeks. A month or two. Why would she start now, after what Niall and Clarity said to each other?
"C'mon man," Jessie said, patting Niall's back. "You can sit with me today." Niall nodded, still looking at Clarity. Had Clarity broke? Had something snapped inside her, that wouldn't mend so easily?
The big bus halted at their stop, and Jessie entered first. Then Niall. Clarity waits until up all the steps and into the aisle before she got on the bus.
People were conversing quietly, somewhat mocking the mute girl. Clarity just stared at each and every one of them as she walked by.
Clarity sat in the seat Niall and her say in her first day, though Niall was sitting with Jessie. Clarity sadly looked out the window, counting the cars as they went by. It was an abnormally hot day, and both Niall and clarity were wearing sweaters.
"Aren't you hot, man," Jessie asks Niall. The boy just shrugged and turned his attention back to the broken girl. He seemed lost in her own thoughts, and she was.
Niall took out his guitar, surprised at how it fit inside the seat's length.
Niall hummed to a song, one Clarity was all too familiar with.
