One Direction's New kids

Chapter 1

Sanali and Drew Cannon were living in a Kansas orphanage. They were left on the doorstep of the orphanage when they were only 3 and 5, by their alcoholic mother. Now 13 and 15, they were still at the same orphanage, not adopted. The sisters had the same green eyes, but Sanali had their mother’s black hair and a beauty mark under her lips. Drew had their father’s blonde hair. They were the type you’d call pretty, but they never thought so. Drew, the youngest, and the shier one, had recently gotten depressed and started cutting. She is also great at singing but refuses to sing in public. Sanali, on the other hand is the oldest, outgoing one, and is great at the piano and the guitar. She’ll do anything to protect her sister.
A week before the adoption, the girls were sitting in the corner at yet another one of those days where young couples look for the oh-so adorable little kids who go the fastest in the orphanage. Oh, and the older kids who’ve come to the realization of not getting out of here until they are 18, just get skimmed over.
“I’m going to take Mrs. McKenny’s glasses from the secretary’s office. Want to come?” Drew announced.
“No, I’ll wait back here,” Sanali said, “Don’t get caught.”
Drew fled. Sanali looked out to the crowd of adults cooing over the little kids. Her eyes landed on her friend Luke just sitting in the corner. They had been best friends ever since she could remember. He had a little brother who was being cooed over at the moment. Wait, until they found out he had a teenage brother, she walked over to him thinking.
“What’s going on S,” he asked.
“Oh, just the most exciting day of my life,” she replied sarcastically. They both laughed. It felt good to laugh at a moment of feeling unwanted in the most subtle way. Just then, these two guys, one with a British accent and curly brown hair and the other with an Irish accent and beach-blonde hair, walk up to them.
“Are you guys in this orphanage?” the one with beach blonde hair asked.
“Yes,” Sanali said, used to this question and the one coming next, “the bathroom is down the hall to the right. You can’t miss it.”
“Uh…okay thanks, but that’s not what we’re here for,” the guy with the curly brown hair said, “what are your names?” Sanali suddenly remembered that Luke was sitting right next to her. And jumped when he said:
“This is Sanali,” he gestured toward her, “and I’m Luke.”
“Well nice to meet you. This is Niall and I’m Harry,” the guy with the curly hair said.
“How old are you guys?” asked Niall, mainly looking at Sanali. Here it goes, Sanali thought, the moment of truth.
“We’re both 15,” Sanali said hiding her worry.
“Are you guy’s twins or something,” asked Harry, looking from Sanali to Luke. They gave each other funny looks.
“Oh no, we’re not related,” Luke said. Harry and Niall exchange looks.
“Okay, well, thanks for speaking to us,” said Niall, as Harry and him walk away.
“So…do you think they were interested?” asked Luke.
“Ha ha, very funny,” Sanali replied.
“I’m serious,” said Luke, “they seemed very interested in what you had to say.” Sanali rolled her eyes. She didn’t think they seemed all that interested.
“Hey, did you see what Mrs. McKenny was wearing. She looked like a unicorn just threw up on her,” Sanali said, changing the subject.
