Here We Are
Chapter Eleven
When we arrived back at the arena, I couldn’t find Niall anywhere, so I decided to go to each of the boys’ rooms to see if they knew where he was. I went to Louis’ room first. When I entered, he was standing in front of the mirror, looking at his behind.
“Have you seen Niall?” I asked him.
He just shrugged. “I haven’t seen him since this morning. Sorry, love.”
I started to walk out of the room, but Louis grabbed onto my wrist to stop me.
“I need your opinion on something, first,” he said, letting me go.
“Yeah?”
He turned around and pointed at his rear. “How does my bum look in these pants?”
“Louis, you have the nicest ass I’ve ever seen. Literally. Out of anyone on this planet.”
He smirked at me. “I know.”
I left his room and went to Zayn’s room, but when I saw it was closed I remembered that he and Brooke went to the zoo. I sighed and went to find Harry’s room. He was sitting down with his face buried into his phone.
“Whatcha doin’?” I asked him.
“Looking at Twitter. Apparently, I’m in LA, London, and Boston.”
“Wow, you’re talented.” We were silent for a little bit, but then I spoke. “Thank you so much for
coming with me today, Harry. I’m sorry you have a black eye.”
“Anytime, Evelyn. You know I’m here for you.”
I gave him a smile and walked out. Then, finally, I went to Liam’s room. He was on the phone with someone, but got off as soon as I entered the room.
“Did I interrupt something?” I asked him.
“No, we were done talking anyways,” he answered.
“Okay…so, have you seen Niall? No one else has seen him.”
“I haven’t…I don’t know where he is.”
“Liam, you always know what everyone is doing. It’s one of your daddy-like senses.”
“I…uh…I really haven’t seen him since we got here.”
I sighed and left the room. I looked around the whole arena for him at least twice, and I couldn’t find him and no one else had seen him. At one point, I even went and asked the fans outside if anyone had seen him. This, however, created a fiasco, and “#WhereIsNiall” was trending on Twitter in less than five minutes. After about two hours or searching, I realized the show was about to start, so I made my way to the designated area in the back of the crowd for guests of the band to stand in to watch the show. When I got there, Brooke was already there, but so were two faces I didn’t know I was going to see.
“Danielle? Eleanor? What are you guys doing here?”
“We’re just here to watch the show, love,” Eleanor answered.
“We heard it’s going to be one of the best shows yet,” Danielle chimed in.
I looked over at Brooke, who wouldn’t look me in the eye.
“Okay, what is going on?” I asked out loud. Before anyone could answer, the lights dimmed and the show started. I kind of expected Niall to not be on stage since I couldn’t find him at all, but he was up there wearing that fucking white tank top that showed off his chest. His hair also was swooped to the side instead of standing up. No matter how hot he was, I was still mad at him. I didn’t let that ruin my good time, though. Danielle, Eleanor, Brooke, and I were dancing together and having a great time.
And then it was Niall’s turn to talk. All of the boys left the stage leaving him up there by himself with a guitar around his body, which they have never done.
“Hello Atlanta! It’s great to be back here, it’s been awhile, yeah?” He let the fans get out their scream before he spoke again.
“There are a few things I love about this place. I love how you say ‘y’all’.” I let out a chuckle. I remember one of the first things Niall said to me was how he loved my southern accent and slang that came along with it.
“Another thing I love is the women that come from this city.” Of course the girls went crazy when he said that, but that just made me frown. It’s like he didn’t realize I was standing right here.
“Especially that woman, right there,” he said, pointing at me. A spotlight was shown right on me. I looked over at the girls and mouthed, ‘What the fuck?’ but I guess I was also being broadcasted on the big screens, because he saw me say that.
“Now, now, no need to curse. Could you please join me on stage, Evelyn?” I was then led by security guards onto the stage. I walked over to Niall and stood beside him. He took my hands into his and looked at me in my eyes.
“Evelyn, these past months with you have been some of the best months I have ever experienced. When I’m with you, it’s like we’re the only two people in the world. You can make the worst day seem like the best day just by flashing your beautiful smile. You make me so happy, I can’t even describe it.” He let go of my hands and put them on his guitar then turned to the audience.
“I’d like to play a song for Evelyn, if that’s okay with you all.” The crowd cheered and he turned back to me. “You may know this one. It’s a classic.” He began to strum and he started to play a song I thought I’d never hear again. I couldn’t help but bust out in laughter.
“Oh Evelyn, how you make me smile for a while, and by the way my name is Niall.
I am Irish, and you are American, that would make our children Irican.
I need you to help me decorate my bathroom’s style, and choose the color or the tile.
Like when Bob the Builder asks, ‘Can you do it?!’ you’ll respond with ‘Yes I can!’”
Through my giggles, I burst out with “Yes I can!” just like the first time he sang it to me. He smiled and started singing again, but this time, he changed the lyrics.
“So here I am singing, Miss Evelyn Baker, and please just know that I’m no faker.
I’m really nervous singing to you, but you should know that I’m almost through.
I’d pick you over any single polo, and right now you’re currently riding solo,
So Evelyn, you should really see, that being my girlfriend would be the best. Wouldn’t you agree?”
I just looked at him shocked. Did he just ask me to be his girlfriend in my hometown in front of an arena full of people? He took my hands in his again.
“So…Ev….will you be my girlfriend?” A sea of gasps erupted throughout the arena, and it got so quiet that you could hear a pen drop in there.
“Yes, Niall, I will,” I replied with. I gave him a quick kiss and started to walk off stage. As I was walking, I looked behind me to the stage to see Niall being tackled by all of the boys…except Harry.
He was just watching with a small smile on his face.
It hurt me a little bit because I could see how upset he was, but that got pushed to the back of my mind.
Niall was now my boyfriend, and for once, things were going like they should.
Or so I thought.
“Have you seen Niall?” I asked him.
He just shrugged. “I haven’t seen him since this morning. Sorry, love.”
