There's Someone Always Watching
Chapter Twenty Four
Tessa's POV
I had my little tiara pinned to my head, a golden gown on my body. My hair was curled and put into a bun, curls dangling down. I felt pretty.
"Thank you, Miss," I said to the maid. She curtsied and left my room in a hurry. I was all alone in my room, thinking about what I had read in the book from the library.
"Tessa," someone at the door knocked. I let them know it's okay to come in, and they do.
"Hey," Niall says. I smile at him. "You look...nice."
"Thanks," I say, kind of disappointed. Nice. I look nice. "So, is it time to go?" Niall nods. I stand up and walk with Niall to my door, then we leave the room. I turn to him.
"Is Liam and Harry coming with us also?" He frowns.
"Uh, no. They aren't able to at the moment," he tells me. I nod sadly. We take a flight of stairs down, then through corridors and hallways, me learning that we had more of the castle than I knew about.
We leave the castle, and I see that guards were standing where ever we went. Protection, I guess.
We walked into a small garden square, but there were many people there. I smiled.
"Hello," I said to a little girl. "What's your name?" The little girl looked up at her mother, whose eyes were a dark purple color. Her mother nodded, and the girl looked back up at me.
"I'm Kayla," she said. She smiled at me.
"Nice to meet you Kayla, I'm--"
"Princess Atessa," the crowd cheered.
"That's me," I said to the little girl. Niall ushered me forward, so I wave back at Kayla before meeting many more people.
I saw many young men my age, cute ones, not-so cute ones, regular. I wasn't really attracted to anyone though. I smiled at everyone, knowing that's what a trained princess would be taught to do.
"Hello, hi, hello," I said endlessly.
We left about an hour or so later, me tired and half-deaf. Niall chuckled, but led me into a palace garden.
"It's okay, I've got her," he said to the guards that followed us. They nodded and left us. Niall guided me to a bench in the middle of the garden.
"Who planted these, they're beautiful," I asked. I was particularly drawn to a crystal blue flower, which reminded me of Niall's (regular) eyes.
"My mother did," Niall said next to me. I raised my eyebrows at the flower. "A long, long time ago. I take care of them, as well as the gardeners. You know, that flower you've got there, only grows here." I raised my eyebrows again, looking at Niall.
"Really?"
"Yes, it's called the Moon Plant. Legend has it," Niall began, "that those flowers themselves each have a moon gem as a seed. No one knows for sure, though, because no one's planted them for about three hundred years." I frown at the plant.
"Hey, Tessa?" I look at Niall, humming. "Did you see anyone that you would consider as a suitor?" Niall was looking at his feet, his blonde/brown hair covering his eyes from me.
I thought a moment. "No, I don't think so. Not yet, anyway. Why?"
"Nothing. I was just curious," Niall said. He leaned in and kissed me cheek. And before I could respond, he was already gone.
You are welcome
