There's Someone Always Watching
Chapter Twenty Two
Tessa's POV
"For your suitors," Niall said as we walked down a corridor, "you have to first try the nobles. If not then, well..." Niall looked down. "If you do not like them, then, will-"
"Niall," I put my hand up to stop him. "Please, I do not want to discuss this now." I straightened my new dress that I had put on before we left the room. We were at the doors of the room I would meet my former friends in.
"Tessa?" I looked at Niall, my hands on the knobs. He came over to me, and smiled. He took fave in one hand, gazing into my eyes. I blinked. He leaned away, removing his hands from my chin and moving it to my braid.
"Good luck," he said, fixing my hair a bit. I smiled.
"Thank you, Niall," I said. I kissed his cheek, and he turned bright pink. I winced. "Was that not one of the Atesslavoyian customs?"
"No," he smirked and shook his head. I rolled my eyes and waved to him as he left down another door. I pulled the doors open, loudly, as if announcing Princess Atessa was here.
Liam and Harry stood up, but I glared at them.
"Sir Liam Paine and Harry Edward, huh," I barked at them. They looked shocked and guilty. Liam lowered his head.
"Your father made us promise not to tell you..." He trailed off. I glanced at Harry, hurt. If 'known' Harry since I was fourteen. I should have known, they never even looked different. And they talked weirdly.
"I thought you were my friend," I said. "I thought you ALL were my friends. I was just a charity case." I shook my head in disbelief.
"No, Princess-"
"Don't call me that! I'm not a princess! I'm not going to get married, and I will not stay here," I yelled at them both. I started to get a temper tantrum, but Harry came and put his hands on my shoulders. He gazed into my eyes, mine blue, while his a dark green with a red rim. I guess now that he doesn't have to hide it, he won't.
"Calm down, we know you're not going to marry us," Liam said. "Well, at least, I do." Harry pulled away, making me feel sad, but less tense.
I smiled at Harry and Liam. "So...Louis and Zayn, huh." Liam rolled his eyes.
"Don't remind us," he said.
"I can't believe we didn't notice," Harry complained. "You'd think, too." I rose an eyebrow, but Harry just shrugged.
The door opened and Niall stood in the doorway. "Princess," he said gentlemanly, "it's time to go." I looked back at Harry and Liam, smiling.
"Bye guys, see you later?" They nodded.
Niall and I walked back in silence, an awkward silence of sorts. The tension was thick as a sponge, but the sponge didn't soak it up. When we got back to my door, Niall and I faced each other for a while.
"Did you decide yet?"
I shook my head. Niall sighed in what sounded like relief, and I cocked my head to the side, squinting at him. "What did you want to tell me earlier?" His cheeks flushed.
"U-uh, nothing," he stuttered. He leaned in to my face, kissing my cheek.
"Goodnight," he whispered huskily. My cheeks were the colors of flames as I went back into my room.
