Make Me

I'm In Trouble

Walking over to her little blue Honda, Justice was surprised to find a note clipped to her windshield. It was odd, but with her name written on it she knew it was meant for her. Grabbing it, she got back in her car and dropped it in a cup holder, deciding to read it later. As she took a sip from the coffee she had grabbed, Louis slid into the passenger seat his bright red skinnys contrasting with the black interior.

“Hey, Love,” he said with a cheeky grin. “Mind if I ride with you?”

“Um,” Justice began, trying to figure out what was going on. The boy just looked like he was up to something, but in the time she had known him it was pretty normal. Shrugging it off, she replied, “I guess.”

“Great.” Clicking the seatbelt in, he made himself comfortable.

After sending the cute boy a questioning look, Justice followed the buses back onto the road. It would be two hours until the next stop and she had a feeling that it would feel like much longer. Beside her Louis started fidgeting, looking for something to do. Toying with the radio, he found a station playing the old Katy Perry song, I Kissed A Girl and started singing along.

Glancing over at him, she found it hard not to laugh. Not only was he singing, he was also making ridiculous dramatic faces to go along with it. If she wasn’t driving she would have gotten pictures of it. So the ride ended up seeming a lot shorted than two hours as the two sang along with the radio, even if they didn’t know the song. As they came to a red light though, Louis noticed the note sitting in her cup holder.

“Oi, what’s this?” He asked picking it up. “A love note?” Opening the folded piece of paper, he read the handwritten note out loud, barely even glancing at the words. “’Justice, I only think it’s fair that you know I fancy you. We really get on well and I’d like to discuss our relationship when we have a moment. Sincerely, Harry.’”

“Bullshit,” Justice stated, looking at the boy like he’d lost his head. “It doesn’t say that.”

“Yeah, it does,” he replied, showing her the note. There it was in black ink on the cream colored paper, but something about it just didn’t seem right.

Shaking her head, she brought her attention back to driving. She couldn’t think about the note, it would just mess with her already foggy head. Instead, she’d wait until she had a moment with Harry to ask him about it. It had been a week since their almost kiss and she was still getting butterflies thinking about it, but she had to keep a level head. She had to make sure there was no trouble on this tour. Mark had pretty much laid that out at the start.

Pulling up to the venue, Louis waved and hurried to where Niall was. He seemed in more of a hurry than usual, but the boy was always odd. Liam was a few feet from them talking to Harry, and Justice didn’t want to interrupt their conversation, so she went into the venue and helped the merch team begin set-up.

After the boys had rehearsal, Justice found herself sitting in the balcony area, camera on her lap. Watching the empty stage, she thought about the note that was now crumpled up in her bag. Pulling it out, she did her best to smooth out the wrinkles. Reading over it for the hundredth time, the same words stuck out, ‘I fancy you’. Justice found the wording a bit funny, but after being around the Brits for so long, she knew it was a normal phrase. It just didn’t make sense in her mind though. Why would he want to discuss their relationship?

“Hey.” Turning around she found the boy that had consumed her thoughts for the last week. In a pair of skinny jeans and a tight white undershirt, he looked like a dream. “What are you doing up here?”

“Hey,” she replied, looking towards the stage she pushed a hand through her hair and hoped she wasn’t as red as felt. “I caught the end of the rehearsals.”

Nodding, he grabbed the seat beside her. She watched his eyes find the note and quickly she crumpled it up and stuck it back in the bag. It just wasn’t the right time to have that conversation.

“What’s that?” He asked, his arm bumping against hers.

“Nothing.” Smiling over at him, she hoped it was convincing, “Just a note.”

It didn’t seem like he believed it, but he let it go. Clearly, he hadn’t written the note; if he had he would know what it was. Sighing, Justice was a bit relieved to know it was a prank. She just didn’t think she could handle having that discussion. Not that she didn’t think about what it would be like to date Harry Styles, because she did, she just felt like she was carrying too much pressure thanks to Mark and adding a potential relationship to the mix would bring her to the breaking point.

“About last week,” Harry began, he must have regretted his actions. Justice couldn’t see why he wouldn’t. “We didn’t really get to finish what was started.”

“Right, what was started,” she mumbled, her eyes fell to the row of seats in front of her. Suddenly she was shy little high school Justice all over again. How was it that he could do that to her?

Capturing her chin between his thumb and forefinger, he turned to face him and leaned closer. They were finally alone with no one to interrupt, but still he quickly pressed his full lips to hers. She hadn’t imagined it to be so sweet, not the taste of his lips or the feel of his fingertips. Knotting a hand in his thick hair, she pulled him closer. Nothing else in the world seemed to exist for those few moments. It was just him and her in an empty balcony, the sound of their hearts louder than a drum beat.

As she pulled away, Justice got the strange feeling that this boy would be her down fall; this boy would either own her heart or break it completely and she felt powerless against it. He had her in the palm of his hand and she was going to do her best to make sure he never knew it. At least not until the tour was over, but as his green eyes found her blue ones, she could feel her resolve drain. For only the second time in her life, she knew she had fallen. She wouldn’t call it love, but she really liked the handsome Brit that sat beside her.

Pulling into the office parking ramp, Justice found a spot and locked the car. Her bag was slung across her chest like it had been all summer, but inside were photos of people she once called friends, but now called strangers. They were figments of the past, some memories that she couldn’t remember, others that she couldn’t forget.

Stopping as she entered the lobby, she pulled a folder from the bag and pulled out a picture. His eyes stared back at her, dimples pulling at his cheeks. It had been taken the day of their first kiss. It had been a wonderful memory, but it was tainted by later actions.

Pushing the photo carefully back into the folder, she moved over to the elevator. Her finger played on the smooth call button, its arrow pointing up and pressed. The silver doors blurred the reflection of a girl with long black hair, the plaid shirt she wore nothing but a mess of reds, browns and black. As the doors slid open, she felt the nerves in her gut clench. She didn’t want to look through the pictures again; she had already done so a thousand times. It never seemed to do her any good; it only brought to the surface all the emotions she fought against. Taking a deep breath, she let her eyes close only to see his face. Opening once again, she removed him from her thoughts, but it didn’t last.

Pressing the button for floor twelve, she watched the doors close again. Her foot tapped out a quickening rhythm, the floor solid beneath her feet. The elevator began its ascent, but her mind was far from the small confined space. It was back in her memories, back to the moments and days and weeks that followed the kiss she still longed for.

Notes

The entire story is posted on Mibba.com already under the same title and my username is the same there.

Can I ask that people comment if you're gonna rate? I'd like feedback and if you're going to rate it you might as well give me the reasons for it. Especially since a lot of the ratings have been low... I'd like to improve this story. Please and thank you.
