Overworked
Chapter 92
Tuesday 16th October, 2028
Harry’s P.O.V
It’s Lis’ 7th birthday today. I can’t believe it has been 7 years. Time really does fly by. Maddie came downstairs dressed in a turquoise dress and started setting up for Lis’ party. It’s going to be weird without the guys and girls here and its only Maddie’s family and some of Lis’ friends. She hasn’t really gotten over Belle taking Drew but she’s slowly coming to terms with it. I feel sorry for them because ever since they were tiny they were best friends and then they were ripped away from each other without a second thought. I feel sorry for Drew because he really wanted to be with Niall and instead Belle got custody of him and took him away from his friends and everything he knows. I actually feel sorry for him because he has such a horrible mum. He’s just a child; he doesn’t deserve to be ripped away from his familiarities like that. If I had ever done that, the kids would hate me. I really wish Niall had gotten custody purely because he is the better parent.
“Harry, can you go and collect the cake?” Maddie asked and I nodded, grabbing my car keys. I drove to the cake shop and had to wait outside for a while because there were no parking spaces. Once I had found a space, I jumped out of the car and locked it, walking towards the cake shop. I spoke to the girl at the counter and she went and found the cake. I paid for it and checked it was okay before thanking her and leaving the shop, cake in hand. I put it in the passenger’s seat of my car and drove back home. I took it inside and Maddie checked it was okay too, not trusting my judgement and approved it. She put it into the fridge and set up the rest of the food and drink. People started to arrive and Lis was just enjoying the presents aspect. I can’t take any credit for this party because Maddie did all of the preparation and organised this whole party, while recording her album. She’s amazing. The party went on for a couple of hours before Lis’ friends went home. I put the twins to bed so Maddie could have some time with her family. She doesn’t see them much anymore because she is always so busy with work or the kids and she can’t find the time to go round there. As I was putting the twins to bed, Charlie decided to come downstairs. He ran around the playroom, sniffing all of their toys and then sat down on the sofa. I tucked Lia into her bed and picked up Charlie, going back upstairs. Maddie was watching Lis play with her new toys and when I put Charlie down, he ran to her jumping on her lap. She laughed and stroked him, making him calm down and lay on her lap.
“Are the twins asleep?” Maddie turned to me, still stroking Charlie.
“Yeah, birthday girls bedtime next,” I said and Lis shook her head.
“I want to play with my toys.” She complained pouting.
“At the weekend honey, you’ve got school tomorrow.” Maddie said. She had school today too and then had her party after school because she insisted that she had to have her party on her birthday. Maddie looked at me to put Lis to bed and I did, leading her upstairs. She got into the bath herself and cleaned up and then came out in her pyjamas. I followed her into her bedroom and drew the curtains. She got into bed and I read her a story and tucked her in. She was asleep when I left her room, shutting the door slightly. I could hear Adam and Brooklyn typing away on their laptops but they know when to go to sleep so I’ll trust them. I went back down to Maddie.
“You tired?” I asked as she rested her head on my shoulder. She nodded and I kissed her head. “Go to bed baby, you’ve got work tomorrow.” I reminded her and she put Charlie down on the floor.
“Goodnight,” she kissed me and walked upstairs. She’s always so tired but never goes to bed until I tell her to. I don’t know why, maybe she thinks I’m not capable of looking after the kids or something. Anyway, what matters is that she gets the sleep she needs.

Apologies for the last 10 or so chapters being short because I don't want to drag this story out much longer but there is one last plot twist coming up.
