Overworked

-4 months later-
Harry’s P.O.V
Today is exactly 6 months since Maddie disappeared. She’s stuck to her promise and the kids have had a present and card every birthday. On Adam’s birthday, I saw a glimpse of her running away. She had her normal blonde hair which shows that she’s not dyed it and if she has, it’s worn out and that she’s doing well to be honest. She didn’t look really skinny or depressed, she looked normal. She didn’t look happy, who would? She had spent her birthday alone and without her children. I found out that she left presents at her family’s house too. It came as a massive relief to her parents because they didn’t believe the children’s birthday presents were from her. Until they got the present from Maddie that they wanted, they weren’t happy. Maddie gave them a photo album of herself as well as a trip to New York, which hinted that she was there. They’ve been but they haven’t found her, they want to keep looking but think it’s pointless. I do too, Maddie will come back if she wants to, if not, she won’t.
Maddie’s P.O.V
I walked down the crowded sidewalk, coffee in hand on my way back home. I bumped into someone and spilt my coffee all over myself.
“I’m so sorry.” I heard a familiar voice say. Danielle. It’s Danielle. I looked up and threw my arms around her neck. “Hi?” She said and I pulled away and looked at her. “Oh my god! Maddie!” She screamed and hugged me. “Liam!” Danielle shouted and Liam ran out of the shop.
“What?” He asked standing by her side.
“Miss me?” I looked at him.
“It’s not you. It can’t be. Is it? Maddie?” He questioned. I nodded. “Give me proof.” He said and I rummaged in my bag and found my purse. I got my old driving license out and handed it to him. “It’s you!” He picked me up.
“Yeah it’s me.” I said and he put me down.
“Do you realise how worried we’ve been? And that it’s 6 months today since you left?” He handed me my license back.
“I know. I’m sorry that I left. I couldn’t stay after, well, yeah.”
“We don’t know what happened. Eleanor won’t tell us. She’s been distant for the past 6 months, she knows something we don’t. She also hates Harry. She blames him for you leaving, that’s not why you left is it?” Danielle asked.
“Can we go back to my house? I don’t want to talk here.” I said looking around at the people surrounding us. They nodded and followed me back to my house. We got there and I opened the gate.
“This is yours?” Liam looked at the large house in front of him.
“All mine, just me.” I went up to the front door and unlocked it. I went in and dumped my bag on the floor. “Make yourselves comfortable.” I told them and they sat down.
“I have to ask something. You’ve dyed your hair since Adam’s birthday haven’t you?”
“I was wearing a red wig for months and when I dropped the presents off on Adam’s birthday it was the only time that I didn’t really. Then I decided that red looked good so dyed it this colour.”
“And the blue eyes?”
“Contacts, but I love them.” I said and sat down.
“Can you explain what El knows and we don’t?”
“Sure, do you know about me having an affair?”
“Yeah, Harry told us that. But after that he wouldn’t talk, as well as Eleanor.”
“Basically, yes I did leave because of Harry. He did something no man should ever do. It hurt and scared me so I left and went into hiding for months. But Harry, he, he, slapped me.” I choked out.
“No wonder they wouldn’t talk.” Liam said.
“Eleanor was right all along! We didn’t believe her! We thought you just ran off because you felt guilty but he hurt you! She said “Harry is to blame for her leaving, not anyone else, him.” But we didn’t believe her. I can’t believe we were so stupid!” Danielle said.
“Well you weren’t to know. Where’s Leah?”
“At home with Perrie and Zayn, we came for fashion week.” Liam said.
“My designs were meant to be in that.” I sighed.
“You’re the one that left your business.”
“With good reason, I couldn’t stay after he slapped me and I’ve made a decision that I’m never coming back so just go back to LA and don’t tell them that you saw me. I’m going to stop with the presents too. I want them to think that I’m gone and coming back all the time is too painful. They think I’ll come back but I can’t. I’m done with all of this.” I admitted and walked away. I went to my office and logged onto the computer. I got my old Twitter account up and composed a tweet.
“@MAStyles: 6 months ago today since I left. I feel like I should at least tell you all where I’ve been hiding. I’m living in New York, with red hair and blue eyes, yes, you were right, I’m that girl. But I want you to know that I’m no longer famous, or even Maddie Styles. I’m not even Anderson. I’m someone completely different, inside and out. I left because someone did something they should never do and it hurt me. It hurt and scared me a lot so I ran. I ran to New York, bought a red wig and some blue contacts and smashed my phone up against the wall. I’ve been going back ‘home’ and leaving presents for my children, but it’s time to stop that now. I eventually took off the wig and actually dyed my hair red. I’m sorry to every single Fashionista out there, but Maddie Styles, is in spirit, dead. I’m sure there is still a piece of her buried somewhere inside me, but when you’ve been trying to put that life behind you for 6 months, you gradually forget. I met some people today who told me that the One Direction family is getting distant from each other. Pull together guys, just because I’m not there doesn’t mean that you should all fall apart. And I want to say, I’m sorry, to my parents. I know they’ve been worried sick about me, but I’m okay. Stop searching for me. I don’t want to be found. I want to be on my own now, more than ever, I’m sorry to everyone that I hurt, but after they hurt me, I couldn’t stay.” I sent it on a twitlonger and shut down my computer. I went back out to the living room and Danielle and Liam were gone, much to my relief. I need to put all of this behind me.
