Chapter 9: "I'm sorry."

“I don’t know about this,” Niall says as Louis and him walk up to Liam’s place. “I walk up to Liam’s place. “I mean, what if they say no?”
Louis chuckles. “Well, then it will just be the three of us. It’ll be their loss.” Louis knocks on the door, and Liam answers it. “Are you ready yet?”
“Yeah,” Liam replies. “I’ve been ready.”
“Great. Now we just have to get the girls.”
Louis had come up with this idea last night. The three of them would invite Des, Victoria, and Carrie to the arcade. He sees it as a great way to help get Des and Niall together. He could make it so that they are left alone. The brunet is pretty sure that that will greatly help. Then he could get Liam and Care to go off on their own as well.
At the end of the hangout yesterday, Des and him talked about how well they would be together. Hell, Des even came up with their ship name. When two people have such an awesome ship name, they should at least try it. Plus, they are pretty sure that they would like each other anyway. It’s a win win. Maybe the time at the arcade would help get the “parents” together.
Of course, neither Louis nor Des have any idea that they are on each others’ lists for matchmaking. That’s right. Des plans on trying to get Louis together with Victoria. Victoria has been a complete bitch in the past, but Des always tries to be nice to her. That’s just how Des is. She always wants to be mean and a jerk, but she just can’t. It’s just not in her. She does have a bit of a temper, but she’s gotten a lot better at controlling it. Des already knows that Victoria thinks that Louis is cute, and Victoria has been on a small nice streak. That’s why she told Louis to hang out with her. She told him that they would get along nicely. Well, they wouldn’t get along as well as she does with him, but that’s just because they are soul besties.
The trio make their way over to Carrie’s apartment. Knowing them, they are probably all hanging there. That’s what they normally do after all. Louis knocks on the door, and it doesn’t take long for the tall blonde to answer it. As soon as she does, Louis is entering just like his friend did on their first day in this world.
“I have a proposition for Des, Carrie, and Victoria! We are going to the arcade, and we have invited you three to come with!”
“OK,” is all that Carrie says. She doesn’t really have anything left to say.
“Of course, I’ll go,” Victoria smiles as she leaves Diana and goes over to them. Now she’s just too excited to say anything. Louis just invited her to go and hang with him. Oh, yeah, there are four others that will be there, but that doesn’t matter. She’s the amazing one that the cute guy said. She already knows that Niall will be going with Des, and Liam must want to go with Carrie. That leaves the cute one all to herself.
“What about Des?” Louis questions the brunette. “You haven’t said anything, and I know that a certain blond boy would love it if you came.” Niall’s cheeks turn a shade of pink. “So?”
“Umm.” Des really doesn’t want to hurt Niall’s feelings. He blushed, so she’s pretty sure that Louis wasn’t just playing with her. That makes this hard on Des. If Niall didn’t care, it wouldn’t matter. She doesn’t want to hurt him, but she doesn’t really have a choice, so she tries to make it as gentle as possible. “I’d love to, and I would-”
“Well, let’s go!”
“But I already told Brandon that I would hang with him. I’m sorry. I really wish that I could, but I already told him, you know?”
“It’s alright,” Niall says quickly. “I, em, have something to do too. Maybe next time.” He turns around and exits.
Louis follows him out into the hallway. “Niall!” The blond doesn’t turn around though. Why would he?
Now Des feels really really bad. It’s obvious that he really wanted her to go. The hazel-eyed girl doesn’t know why he cares so much. The only thing that comes to mind is that they get along so well. The short brunette really wishes that she could have went. She can just imagine all of the fun that they would have had. She would have beaten them all at the games. Everyone would be mad at her and decided to go somewhere else, but Niall, being the kind person that he is, would have stayed there with her. They could have played two-player games that have the players work together. They could have gotten some pizza. They could have played a dance game. He could have fallen. She could have went to help him up and pull to hard. His head could have hit hers. Their faces could have been close. They could have...
Stop it, Des. She has to keep her cool. Although her friends already assume that she likes Niall and Victoria and Care actually know, she doesn’t want Liam and Louis to know. They are his friends, and they could tell him. She can’t let that happen. What if he doesn’t like her? What if he doesn’t want her around anymore? Will Des ever stop being such a pessimist? She probably won’t. That’s just how she is.
Thinking of all of this makes her feel really bad about it all. It’s just that she really didn’t have a choice. She really did already tell Brandon that she would hang with him. She told him last night after the hangout when he asked her. Yes, she would prefer to hang will the cute boy with that cute accent, but her hands are tied. What else is she going to do? She can’t just ditch her friend that she’s had for years just to hang out with her crush. That’s not the right thing to do. Remember, Des is a nice person.
“I’m sorry about him,” Louis apologizes. “I’ll talk to him later.”
“Well,” Des starts, “I could talk to him after I hang with Brandon for a bit. I mean, I obviously upset him.”
Louis smirks in his mind. Forget his plan for the arcade. This could work just as well. “Well, alright. I’m not sure where he is going though. He may go back to his flat, but he may go to that place he likes to go.”
“What place?” Louis shrugs.
“We aren’t sure,” Liam says. “We just know that he likes to go somewhere when he’s upset. We’ve tried to find it on the few occasions when he was upset, but he never did find it. It’s not his flat or The Hangout. It’s also not the pizza place, which we also thought could be it. He just seems to disappear. You'll probably have to try calling him.”
“Alright, I’ll do that.”
Brandon comes over to them. “Well, we don’t know how long that we’ll be out. He might be over it by the time that we’re done hanging out.”
Des frowns. “Well, it would still be nice if I apologized.”
“Why should you apologize? He’s the one that freaked out over nothing.”
“It’s the right thing to do.” Des’s temper starts to come through, but she does her best to hold it back. “Now, let’s go do whatever you wanted to do before I change my mind.”
Brandon does his best to hold back his feelings as well. He’d love to just tell her how he felt, but he knows that her mind is only filled with thoughts of Niall. He stands to chance right now. Now, he would try to do something, but he has no idea how he can get her to think of just him. That’s why he’s just trying to get her to hang out with him instead of the blond.
Des follows Brandon into his apartment. In there, they start to talk about music and the bass that Brandon has been working on. He’s almost done with it, and he wants her to play it once he finishes it. Of course, Des agrees. It looks just like the one that she had at home. It’s name was Justin, and she plans on naming this one the same as well. She tells Brandon how she wishes that she had one that looked like Shane and one that looked like Zack. He tells her that he’ll make them for her eventually. How could he say no to her?
~
Now, Louis, Liam, Carrie, and Victoria start to make their way to the arcade. The only one that is really talking is Victoria. She’s let go of what happened between Des and Niall and just wants to hang with her crush. Louis tries his best to follow along, but his mind keeps going back to his two friends. Carrie and Liam go ahead and start talking quietly. They talk a little bit about Des considering that Des is Carrie’s sister, but it doesn’t last long. Carrie knows how her sister is, and she knows that she’ll do that right thing. The only thing that wouldn’t help would be of her lack of good social skills. Des is great when it comes to writing, but in real life, she’s terrible at it. The only one that Des can really and truly talk to her is her. She’s her sister. Of course, she can talk to her about anything. Hopefully, she’ll finally be able to be all of herself around everyone else as well.
~
Niall goes to his flat and grabs everything that he thinks that he’ll need. He grabs a lunch, the notebook that has the song that he has been working on in it, and something to write with. After he grabs all of this, he goes to his place. No one knows about it, and he does his best to make sure that no one does. Sometimes, he just wants to be by himself. Isn’t there a time when everyone just wants to be alone?
Once he’s there, he pulls out the notebook and pen. He starts to work on the lyrics, but he’s not used to think, so he has to think a bit. He does his best to use his emotions, but he’s also trying to fight them as well. Well, it looks like he’s going to have to think of some of them if he’s ever going to finish the lyrics to this song that he wishes that Des could hear. Well, he does wish that she would hear it, but he knows that she never will. He doesn’t want her to leave him forever.
Niall starts to think of that and everything like that. She went with Brandon and not him. She probably likes Brandon. What if they are actually going on a date? What if they are going to kiss? What if they start dating? All of these thoughts go into writing this song.
The blond is almost done when he gets a call. He doesn’t want to be bothered, but he decides to at least look and see who called him. It’s Des. Niall looks at his phone for a second and contemplates answering it. He sighs. It’s Des, and he can’t say no to her. He fancies her afterall.
“Hello,” he says.
“Hi. Um, where are you?”
“I’m guessing that Liam and Louis already told you that I have a place that I like to go in order to be alone.”
“Yeah, they did. Do you want to meet up?”
“Sure. We could go to The Hangout?”
“I’m fine with that.”
“OK.”
“And Niall?”
“Yeah?”
“I’m sorry.”

Notes

I was suppose to put this up hours ago...
Well, now I just have a bad nana since it's five in the morning. Oh well.
Anyway, I'm back and staying. I didn't want to write my last month of school because of all the school stuff that I was doing. I'm no longer a high school student now though, and I'll be updating weekly again.
Poor Niall though. Des, go and give that boy a hug. (I don't know if this is weird because I am Des...)
It's interesting how I have so much of this story planned out when I have no idea how it ends. Ha.
What I will say is that something in real life will change this story eventually. I won't say what, and I won't saw how, but my idea that I was had is back and staying.
Anyway, I hope you liked it!

@The Renegade
It's true though. All my sister used to do years ago when she'd play me is just press them randomly. She's stopped, but I can get over the fact that she beat me some battle. (I still won most because that's my fighting game series.
The fact that's it's true is the reason why I think that it's funny.
Meow! :)

“I have a strategy. That’s why.”
“Strategy?” Liam finally loses. “Now that that’s over. What is this ‘strategy’?”
“I just press the buttons at random.”

I lost it at that XD

Thank you. Because I use the last sentence of the story as the chapter, I always make sure that it ends with a line that I like. That one just came into my head out of nowhere, and I feel like it's one of the better chapter titles. It fits the whole idea with the characters so much. (Des, you need to do that some more! OK, brain, I will.)
