Another World

Prologue

In the small bedroom, three girls sit on a large bed with purple sheets and talk. The oldest is short and brunette with blonde chunks, the second is tall with short blonde hair, and the youngest is short with long blonde hair.
“What did you dream about last night?” the youngest of the three asks.
“I was in a coffee house called The Hangout,” the oldest answers. “I could smell it, and you know that I hate coffee. That was pretty much it.”
“I haven’t been there yet, but I did go to the grocery store. Nothing was really happening,” the tall blonde says. “Where’d you go?”
“I was at this clothing store. It was horrible! Everything was the same!”
“I still think that the coffee house was worse. Although, I did see this cute blond guy there. If only he could see me...”
“I think I know which one you’re talking about,” the youngest smirks. “It would be awesome if you could talk to him. I’d give anything to talk some sense into the people at that store.”
“This time, it looked like he sensed me. I think the link is almost open enough. I didn’t tell you guys this, but the other night when I was in one of the stores, I looked at the TV. They were talking about how the cracks are almost big enough for their machine to pull the open minded people through. They mentioned how they’re saving us.”
The other two girls frown. The tall blonde speaks up. “I saw that too. I didn’t get to see the rest of it since I woke up.”
“If only we had someone to talk about this to... It sucks that even our friends think we’re crazy.”
“Yeah, and I feel like whatever this machine is going to do is going to happen soon.”
“I feel it too... I’m going to go to bed now. Maybe we’ll finally see what’s going to happen tonight.”
“I’m going to go to sleep too.”
The youngest’s smirk appears again. “You can see that blond again.”
“Shut up!” the brunette laughs.
The three girls go to sleep inside their sleeping bags. Although their bodies stayed, their minds traveled through the crack and into the other world.
~
The Earth shook which caused the girls to wake. They stare at each other. Ohio has never been known for earthquakes, so what is happening? The tall blonde quickly grabs the remote and turns on the TV. They couldn't believe their eyes.
It’s the end of the world.
They just stand there in thought. This must be what they are being saved from, but how? How is that machine going to get them out of this? Just, how?
The ground shakes again which causes them to get out of their trance. The house begins to creak. They know that they have to get outside. They sprint outside into the unending chaos. Sirens and screams make their ears ring. It’s completely overwhelming. The youngest just happens to glance up at the sky and is the first to see it. The once blue sky is being torn open. They have no idea how it’s even possible. A light rains down on them and covers them from head to toe. They get this feeling in their gut. It’s a familiar feeling, and they place it. It’s the same as when they first enter the dreams. Their eyes close before they feel a jolt, and when their eyes open, they find themselves in some building surrounded by what look like police or something like that.
“What’s going on?” the eldest asks. “Who are you, and where are we?”
The girls are grabbed by them and are lead to another room. The only things that their eyes can see are white walls and more officers. When they reach the other room, they spot four of their friends. They are about to talk to them, to ask if they know what is going on. They don’t get to though because they put them into a line with the three girls in the front. When the elder goes up to a black haired man at the counter, she is asked a couple of questions before having her photo taken. All they can tell is that they are making records.
When all of their photos are taken, they are lead into another room where one woman and three men in suits are standing. The eldest finally notices something. Their eyes are glazed over as if there is protective lens over their eyes.
They are in the world that they kept visiting in their dreams.
“Hello everyone,” a tall blonde woman says with a British accent. The group of friends assume that she is the leader of them. “I hope that you had a nice trip like all of the other times that you’ve come here. My name is Laura Pond, and I’m the one overlooking the crack that you came from. We were hoping more people would have come through, but it seems that you’re the only ones from your part of the world that made it. That also means that you’re the only ones from your dimension that will be living in this area.”
“What’s going on?” the only male of the group of friends asks. “Why were we here?”
“Couldn’t you tell? We saved you from the end of your dimension. Sometimes when an old dimension gets too large, a younger one will crush it and destroy it to make room. Our dimension destroyed your’s, but we were able to get you out through the cracks. That’s how we were able to bring your minds to our world before. We knew about your dimension being destroyed, so we created a machine to bring the people with an open mind into ours. Sadly, not many made it. According from everyone’s reports, only a million people made it through. I’m sorry to tell you this, but the only people that you know still alive is the people standing next to you.”
One of the friends with strawberry blonde hair falls to her knees and wept loudly. They all feel a pain in their chest, but she takes it the hardest. She has always been more emotional than the average person. The tall blonde over to her friend and holds her. The whole time, the three of them are thinking that that can’t be right. Everyone that they know besides themselves are dead?
“I know that this is a lot to take in, but we really need to give you your information with where you’ll be living and working. We’ve been preparing for this and already have jobs and apartments set up for you.” She gives a card to each member of the group. “These men will take you to your apartments, give you your new clothes, and your job information. I hope you all have a great life in our dimension. Oh, and before you go, they’ll give you your vaccines.””
With that, the group is vaccinated and then taken to their new apartment building, their new lives.

Notes

The prologue is a little rough, but it gets a lot better in the next chapter. I'm really excited for this story, and I just finished writing chapter 5. Hope you like it!

@The Renegade
It's true though. All my sister used to do years ago when she'd play me is just press them randomly. She's stopped, but I can get over the fact that she beat me some battle. (I still won most because that's my fighting game series.
The fact that's it's true is the reason why I think that it's funny.
Meow! :)

“I have a strategy. That’s why.”
“Strategy?” Liam finally loses. “Now that that’s over. What is this ‘strategy’?”
“I just press the buttons at random.”

I lost it at that XD

Thank you. Because I use the last sentence of the story as the chapter, I always make sure that it ends with a line that I like. That one just came into my head out of nowhere, and I feel like it's one of the better chapter titles. It fits the whole idea with the characters so much. (Des, you need to do that some more! OK, brain, I will.)
