Life is Hard.

Will You?

Forms were given out today to those who signed up. I heard from someone in class that there were around five hundred students who signed up. The school will only be picking the top hundred students with the most impressive form entered.

I was at my locker taking out some books for the next class when someone knocked my locker door from the other side. I closed my locker until there was only a small gap left, being sure to not close it so I won't have to reopen it again later on. Niall was standing at my locker with a smile spread across his face. Niall was my senior by a year, he was originally from Mullingar, Ireland. He moved here to LA when his parents got divorce seven years ago. He was 11 years old when he moved here with his mum, four years later, his mum got remarried to a local.

Niall's POV

I was walking down the hallway at school when I spotted Layla at her locker. I shoved my way through the crowd and got to her locker. I knocked her locker door and she closed her locker, leaving the door ajar.

"Hey Char, wanna grab some coffee after school?" I suggested.

"Yeah, sure."

"Great, I'll wait for you by the front gate later when school ends! Cya later."

"Bye." She waved goodbye to me and went back to getting her books out of the locker as I walked down the hallway to my next class.

I was waiting at the front gate for five minutes before Charlotte arrived. I jumped a little when someone tapped my shoulder from behind.

"It's just me." she chuckled. I love the sound of her chuckles, it makes you feel happy inside no matter what mood you were in before, it's just adorable.

"Ready to go?" she nodded her head as a reply. We walk towards the parking lot and entered my Lexus is250, the car that I got recently as my birthday present from my parents. Actually, Parent + step-parent.

"G'afternoon sir, what can I get for you today?" The cashier lady at Starbucks questioned. Her name tag that was pinned onto her uniform wrote 'Tasha'.

"Hi Tasha, can I have a frappuccino and one ice cappuccino, please?" I placed Charlotte and I's order. I knew that she likes the Starbucks' cappuccino. She doesn't really drink coffee, she doesn't like the taste of it, she only drinks those few coffee that she likes.

"Is there anything else?" The cashier asked. I turn to look at Charlotte and gave her the 'do you still want anything look' and she shook her head.

"No, that's all." I said, smiling at the cashier.

"That will be fourteen dollars" the cashier said, pointing to the cash register screen that showed the total price for our order. Charlotte reached for her purse to pay but I grab her wrist and took out my wallet from my pocket with my other free hand.

"I'll pay..." Charlotte mumbled.

"No, I'll pay."

"You paid the last time, and all of the other times! Just let me pay." she insisted, trying to free her wrist out of my wrist.

"No." I argued, holding her wrist a little tighter so she can't reach for her purse.

"At least go dutch." she stared at me with her pleading eyes. I ignored the feeling in me that just wanted to give in and put on a serious face.

"No. A gentleman always pays for the lady." I insisted again, letting go of her hand so I could hand over the money to the cashier for the beverages. She finally gave up arguing knowing that she wouldn't win this one. The cashier handed us our coffee and we left.

It was bright and sunny day, I brought her to the park. The park was full of shady trees and there weren't much people around. We strolled down the path in silence.

"Thanks." She finally spoke, breaking the silence.

"For what?" I asked.

"For the coffee. You remembered what I like." She said smiling. I started to blush and looked down at the ground so she wouldn't see my red cheeks.

"Awww, look who's blushing!!" she chuckled, pinching my cheek as I swat her hand away. There was a big shady willow tree in the heart of the park and we went over and sat under the tree.

"I've got something to ask you," I told her.

"Yeah?" She said, turning over to meet my eyes. Her blue eyes were shining in the sun, I was zoned out looking at them. I brought myself back to reality after awhile realizing that I was staring at her like a completed retard.

"Would you like to go to prom with me?" I asked, pushing all the fear in my body down to the bottom of my heart. Prom was about a month away from now and people usually ask their date a week before the prom. But me? Noooo... I'm asking month ahead and way to early. I know it's weird and all but I can't risk asking her later and knowing that someone else has asked her before me.

"Yeah, sure. I'll go with you" she said after the long pause.

"You don't have to, if you don't want to you kn-. I spoke at the same time she did.

"Did you say yes?" I asked, still shocked and a little confused.

"No Niall, I said I won't go with you." My face dropped into a frown and she rolled her eyes.

"No?" I questioned with a low and soft voice, sounding sad and disappointed.

"Yes Niall" she said again.

"Yes like the 'yes,no' or yes like the yes to will u go to prom with me?"

"Yes as in the 'yes I'll go with you to prom' yes" she said rolling her eyes again.

"Oh, thanks." I replied softly. Starting to blush a little.

"Thanks for what?" she questioned.

"Thanks for letting me the prettiest girl to the prom." She chuckled at what I said and gave me a soft punch on the arm. She looked away because she knew she was starting to blush and she tried hiding them.
