Calum's POV

I stared down at the beautiful girl that was Katie as she slept with her head resting on my thighs.

We were watching a movie with the other boys but it was a thiller and I know Katie hates those so she didn't pay attention and ended up falling asleep and now my attention is on her and not the movie.

The way she smiled in her sleep was adorable and how she fell asleep holding my hand, I tried to pull it away once she was asleep but she just tightened her grip. Everything about her makes me happy and warm on the inside.

I sound like a great big ball of sappiness right now but I don't care.

"Dude why don't you put Katie to bed? I don't think Ash can handle being quiet for much longer." Luke talked and made me look up and notice for the first time that all three of them had their attention was on us and not the movie.

"If she can sleep through this movie then I'm sure she can sleep through us talking." I chuckled as I watched them turn the movie down in volume since no one paying it any thought now.

It was true though, Katie has slept through most of the movie and was not once bothered by it. I don't understand how she could when the main girl of the movie screams at something every two minutes.

"You just don't want to be away from her! That's so cute." Michael pointed out the obvious making me laugh and roll my eyes in a mocking way.

"Oh sue me! I like to be around her. And she's going back to London tomorrow so I need to be around her." I smiled as I looked down at Katie again and ran my fingers through her hair, she smiled as I did so. I knew she liked it when people played with her hair, even when she was asleep.

"You know I'm really surprised with you Cal. You and Katie have been attached at the hip for a month-" Ashton was cut off by Michael adding his two cents.

"Attached at the hip? More like attached at the lips!" They all laughed and Ashton then continued.

"Anyway, you two are attached - in more then one way - and yet you still find time to spend with us. You two somehow balance it out quite well." I nodded understanding what Ashton was talking about. We have worked it out quite well and I'm proud of Katie for not feeling left out at times when her family is on the other side of the world unlike our families that are right here in Australia.

"But I don't won't her to go home." I pouted and they all nodded in agreement with me.

"It can't be that hard Calum. But I'm going to miss her as well." Ashton being the second closest to Katie understood where I was coming from.

"But... but I love her."

"Wait what?! Since when! Woah that's big, how come you didn't tell us sooner?" Luke piratically fell off the couch when he realised what I had just said.

Katie stirred and turned to face my stomach. She let go of my hand and fisted the bottom of my shirt with her small hand. I bounced my knee slightly hoping to rock her back to sleep.

"Mate inside voice! And I only told Katie yesterday so I haven't really had the chance to tell you yet."

They all looked at me with creepy smiles on their faces.

"Did she say it back?" Those words felt like a dagger to the heart. I understand why Katie didn't say it back but it still hurts like hell to not hear those words leave her mouth.

"Not in those exact words but she said she felt it like I did." I looked at them as I talked and noticed that Ashton was the only one who looked like he understood.

"Well with what she's been through this past six months, I can understand that."

It fell quiet before Luke decided to speak up again.

"If she loves you... then we need to think of a way to keep her from going anywhere near Niall." I nodded fully agreeing with him.

"Maybe we could tell her that Niall is dating Barbara again and then she'll believe he doesn't want anything to do with her so she will stay away from him?" Michael thought of some pretty stupid stuff but I do like this plan.

"You guys are complete idiots. If she feels the same way Calum does then shouldn't you trust her to stay away from Niall all on her own?" Ashton didn't look to impressed as he shot down Michael's idea.

"It's not impossible for her to fall in love with Niall too Ashton. And we don't want that to happen." Luke took the words right out of my mouth as I wrapped one of my arms around Katie's small waist in a protective matter.

Ashton stood up fast and looked at us pissed before shaking his head and heaving out a sigh.

"This is Katie Payne we're talking about! She's going to be around Niall for a good amount of her life since she lives with her brother and there is nothing we can do about it. So stop being dicks and focus on the good in this, that Calum and Katie love each other!"

He didn't give us a chance to say anything back to him as he walked over to me and pushed my arm of Katie gently before picking her up with ease and carrying her into my bedroom.

I was shocked and frozen in place.

If I let Ashton take Katie away from me so easily then it's just a matter of time before Niall does and I will not let that happen.

I calmed myself down before quickly standing and walking, well more like running in the direction of my bedroom.

When I got in there I saw the Katie was safely placed under the covers still sound asleep while Ashton was sitting on the edge of my double bed with his head in his hands.

Turning my attention back to Katie I noticed she was now wearing one of my large jumpers over the top of her shirt she had on which I'm guessing Ashton put on her, at least he's putting more clothes on her and not taking any off.
Her hair was now tied back in a ponytail which Ashton must of done too.

"I didn't mean to piss you off Ash. I just don't want Niall to steal her away from me." I walked cautiously towards Ashton as I talked.

He sighed again before looking up at me with a sour look on his face.

"You're letting this battle between you and Niall get the best of you Calum. You're good for Katie, better then good but if you keep acting the way you were less than a minute ago then I will not hesitate to tell Liam that you're no longer suitable for his little sister."

I sucked in a sharp breathe at Ashton's threat that I knew wasn't just an empty threat. He would do what he thought was best for Katie.

He walked out of the bedroom without another word and left me there staring at the sleeping girl.

Tears began to swell in my eyes as a silent sob left my mouth.

I can't lose her. Ever.

Very carefully I climbed into bed next to her and pulled her body close to mine. Her arms wrapped around me as she nuzzled her head into my chest.

"I won't let you down Katie. I love you." I whispered before placing a kiss on her forehead and closing my own eyes.

*1 day later*

"Do you have your passport baby?" I ran my fingers through my messy un-kept hair as we drove Katie to the air port.

"Yeah." She sighed and pulled her plane ticket and passport out of her handbag.

"Do you have gum or something to help un-pop your ears on the plane?" Luke asked from the back seat making Katie nod.

"Do you have a magazine? It's a long flight." Michael asked and Katie nodded again.

"Do you have your inhaler?" Ashton asked the question that so far we have all been afraid to ask. What if she freaks out on the plane and there's no one to help her?!

"Yes I do." Katie's voice cracked slightly as she looked out the window. She's been emotionless all day and I really can't tell if she's sad to be leaving or not.

"We're just trying to help Katie. We didn't mean to upset you." Ashton reached up from the back seat and put his hand on Katie's shoulder.

How the hell could he tell she was upset?

"It's okay." Katie placed her hand on top of Ashton's for a mere second before removing it and lacing her fingers with my free hand that was resting shakily on my thigh. She pulled both our hands so they were resting on her leg and smiled to the other boys through the review mirror.

"Are you sure you don't want to just wait until we go back to London?" I asked her even though I knew what her answer would be.

"I wish I could but Liam wouldn't be very happy with me if I did that. He would probably come here and get me himself." She attempt to laugh at her own words but it didn't come out like her normal laugh would.

I didn't say anything back. I just wanted to beg her to stay to ran back to my house hand in hand and pretend she doesn't even have a brother that was waiting for her but that wasn't going to happen any time soon.

The car remained silent for the rest of the drive, no one being happy to be at the air port.

"We're here." I mumbled as I slowly took my hand away from Katie's, missing her warm touch already.

Ashton grabbed Katie's suitcase out of the car as I stood next to her scuffing the ground with my shoe.

I don't know if I can do this.

"C'mon Katie. We don't want you to miss your flight." Ashton held out his arm for Katie which she linked with hers and started to walk into the large building.

I quickly caught up to them and intertwined my hand with Katie's other. She looked up at me and smiled but it didn't reach her eyes.

We walked in silence until we reached the international gateway.

I took a deep breathe and watched as Katie hugged the other three boys goodbye before she turned back to me.

She took a step closer to me and I took one back and tried to wipe away my stray tears before she could notice them.

I looked back up at her to see a look of hurt on her face because I had moved away from her.

"I don't want you to go." I mumbled which just made Katie burst into tears herself.

"You're making this really hard for her Calum." Ashton grumbled through his teeth as he looked between me and Katie.

Katie covered her sobbing face with her hands just as a flash went off somewhere near us. I looked around to see that quiet a few people had figured out who we were now.

"Tell me Katie. Tell me you don't want to leave me." She continued to sob into her hands and ignored my words until I walked closer to her an pulled her hands away.

Her eyes looked up into mine. Both our eyes starting to become red and puffy from crying but I didn't care at all right now and this was probably the first time Katie hasn't cared about what she looked like in public in a long time.

This moment was too emotional right now to care about the world around us.

"I - I don't want to go." She hiccuped and flung herself at me as she wrapped her arms around my torso, I didn't hug back. It would just make this harder and I probably wouldn't let go.

"Dude hug her back already!" Luke hit me on the back of the head making me let out a small sob and wrap my arms around Katie's small shaking frame.

"Please don't leave me Katie." She looked up at me with pleading eyes, like she was asking me not to go there.

I lead down and connected our lips as she placed her hands on the back of my neck to pull me down more.

This would be the last time I get to kiss her for three whole fucking weeks.

That's actually really heart breaking.

When we pulled away, I pulled her in for another tight hug. Both of us still silently crying.

"This... isn't goodbye just see you later." She sniffled and looked down as we pulled away from the embrace.

"I love you so fucking much." She nodded at my words as another wave of tears washed over her.

"Calum this is just getting harder for her. I think it's time for us to leave." Ashton patted my back gently and Katie began to turn away.

I quickly grabbed her hand that wasn't holding her suitcase and spun her around and into my arms again.

"I'm going to miss you so much baby." I mumbled into her hair before pulling away and turning to walk out the air port with the other boys.

I looked back one last time to see Katie still standing in the same spot with her bottom lip trembling.

God this is so fucking hard!

You know that feeling when your fucking ex you were with for five fucking years moves on after just two months? Probably not but that's how I feel right now. He said if I can move away then he can move on. Fucking dickhead.
