Inseparable
Chocolate Strawberries
Lana's POV
The Next Day
I wake up at 12:00 in the afternoon. The sun fills up my room and my hand immediately flies to my face to hide from the blinding light. I threw the covers off of my body and trudged into the bathroom, locking the door behind me.I wince when my eyes focus on the mirror.
My hair is lined with tangles and my makeup is smudged over my cheeks. I turn on the water and wash my face off with ice cold water to wake me up. I turn off the handle and wipe my face off with one of the towels.
I walk back out of the bathroom and stop dead in my tracks when I see what was lying beside me.
A pile of roses in the shape of a heart filled the bedside beside me. In the middle was a paper folded over and standing up with my name written on it in cursive. I smile as I walk over and pluck the paper off the flowers.
Ms. Lana
Be ready by tonight at 8:00 where Mr. Harry Styles will pick you up
outside of the garden located on the right side of the house. Wear something
classy but comfortable.
~ See you tonight, yours truly.
I’m smiling like an idiot. Never in a million years would I have thought this would happen. This was probably the most thoughtful thing that anyone’s ever done for me. I just can’t stop smiling.
Suddenly the nerves hit me. What am I supposed to wear? What if I don’t look nice enough for him? What if I show up wearing a dress while he’s wearing jeans? What if I underestimate what will happen? What happens if we get attacked by the paparazzi? Where are we going?
Before I know it, I’m dry heaving and waving my hand in front of my face to cool off.
It’s just a date! I tell myself. I’ve been on dates before. This is nothing different.
I turn my back on the roses and instead look at the dresser. My eyes notice something else attached to the window. In big bold letters it reads:
Went to do something with the band. See you tonight :)
~ Harry <3
Seeing the other note calms my nerves. I’m finally able to get my breathing under control and my face doesn’t feel so red.
I need to find something to wear.
I need to find my friends.
Eleanor, Danielle, and Perrie sit on the couch watching a movie. I clear my throat and all their heads snap in my direction. I brace myself for their hugs as they run towards me, arms
flailing.
“It’s about time!” Perrie scolds me at how late I sleep.
“I’m sorry to bother you but I don’t have anything to wear for tonight.”
“Great.” Eleanor reaches behind me and grabs her wallet. “I need an excuse to go shopping.”
“I’m in.”
“Me too.”
“Sorry to rain on your parade but I can’t just run around and spend money like you can.” I said embarrassed.
“Money is no worry.” Eleanor waves it off with her hand. “Now stop complaining and go get ready.”
The rest of the day went off without a hinge. The girls were very gracious and bought me a bunch of clothes that I wouldn’t have enough money in a life time to repay. They wouldn’t let me see the dress they picked out for my date tonight no matter how hard I tried to persuade them.
Currently we were on the way back to their house with bags filling up the trunk. I sat in the back beside Dani while Perrie was driving and Eleanor was in front of me.
“Are you coming to the boys concert tomorrow night?” Perrie asked.
“I wasn’t asked.”
“Well you just were so you’re coming.” She demanded and smiled at me through the rearview window.
Besides Leah, there has really never been anyone else that I feel comfortable talking to. I’ve always had trust issues when it comes to my friends especially when they seem fake.
But these girls don’t act like it. They seem nice and sincere.
“Well we’re going to go meet our boys for a dinner date since you two love birds are going off by yourself. Do you need anything?” They took turns hugging me.
“No. And thanks again for getting me everything.” I smiled warmly at them.
“Of course.” Perrie was interrupted by a buzzing sound going off, signaling that their limo was ready. We said goodbye and I watched as they left me alone in this huge house.
I wandered upstairs and took a long hot shower to get my mind off of things. I stepped out the shower and wrapped the towel around my body and one around my hair. I looked in the bag for my dress and froze when I saw the dress that was folded up carefully.
I pulled it out and twirled it around frowning when I saw the whole thing.
This. Was. Going. To. Be. A. Disaster.
It seemed like 8:00 came to early. I had barely gotten ready by the time the car pulled up. I
took one last look in the mirror before walking out towards the garden. I told the driver who I was and he nodded, putting the car in reverse, and drove me to some secluded location.
I twirled my fingers around in my lap and tried not to bite the newly polished nails. My hair kept falling in my face, startling me, and I willed myself to calm down. Everything’s going
to be alright…
“Miss?”
“Miss!” The driver knocked heavily on the window making me jump. I apologized several times and grabbed my clutch to step out. The car sped away quickly and I looked up at the star filled sky.
“Over here!” Someone whispered from behind a bush. I followed the echoed sound and climbed through the bush cautiously making sure that my dress didn’t get caught on a thorn.
Once I stepped out into the clearing, my heart dropped.
Harry sat on a blanket with his legs crossed, grinning from ear to ear. A picnic basket sat beside him along with a radio and a vase of roses. He pushed himself off the blanket and
walked over to me, his arms extended.
“What is this?” I stepped into his warm arms and hugged tightly, still looking at the date he set up.
“Well I wanted to make this special. I figured a movie and dinner wouldn’t cut it.”
“Smart boy.” I laughed. He took my hand and guided me over to the blanket. I smoothed out my dress and sat down beside him. He opened the basket and pulled out a bowl of chocolate covered strawberries.
“I’m allergic to chocolate.”
His face paled. “What?”
“I’m kidding!” I laughed and his shoulders relaxed. He picked up a strawberry and bit the bottom off where the chocolate was. He handed me the bare part of the strawberry and I frowned.
“You said you’re allergic to chocolate.”
“I was kidding!” I smacked him on the arm and took one of the fully covered strawberries and plopped it in my mouth, smiling in the process.
We sat there in silence, enjoying each other’s presence and staring up at the sky. I leaned on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around me bringing me closer. I was a bit cold but I didn’t want to ruin the moment.
“Oh damn.” He sits up suddenly. “I forgot something.” He reached over to the radio and clicked play. It was awkward silence until the scratchy music began playing. Immediately I recognized the song and I began swaying back and forth to the melody.
“May I?” I looked up at Harry who had his hand outstretched and a smile plastered on his face. I took his hand and set my other one on his shoulder. He wrapped his arm around my waist and we danced around the picnic laughing and just having a good time.
We stopped to a steady slow dance and I rested my head on his shoulder. He hummed softly, the vibrations moving up his chest as he spoke.
“Harry, this is perfect.” I whispered while caressing my finger on his shoulder.
“Well I’m glad you like it.”
Instead of saying something else, I bring my head up and look at him. He smiles and leans down to where our mouths are only inches apart. I can feel his hot breath on my lips and it sends shivers through me. I push upwards and we lock instantly. We stay like that for a few seconds before he begins to move against my lips. I do the same and my hands stroke his face, trailing patterns as I kiss him passionately.
Everything suddenly stops. He breaks away leaving me distraught and disappointed. His eyes narrow behind me and he lets out a string of profanities. Staring at him as I turn around, my heart drops when I see a group of people all staring at us. Their camera’s fly up just in time to capture my reaction and Harry jerks my arm to where I’m standing behind him,
shielded from their harsh eyes.
“We need to leave.” He muttered, his hand covering his eyes to escape the flashes. I nod quickly and he pulls me in the opposite direction.
We sprint as fast as we can, not caring about the picnic, and weave in and out the bushes. Once we realize that they aren’t pursuing us, we slow down and try to catch our breaths.
I stare at Harry whose chin is tucked in his chest. His whole body vibrates from laughter although he struggles to keep it in.
“That was great!” He howls at the sky. I can’t help but laugh and I join in, both of us laughing for no apparent reason.
“Shit. Are you cold?” His tone shifted quickly and became serious. I waved it off but on the inside, I was freezing. If it weren’t night time, he would’ve clearly seen my goosebumps.
He shed his jacket and wrapped it around my shoulders. I thanked him and edged closer to him for more warmth. We walked back towards the road and I breathed out a sigh of relief when I saw the car waiting for us. Harry either must relate to my mood or he’s cold too because he piles into the backseat quickly. I do the same and sit next to him. The car lurches forward and we speed back to the house.
“I need to go home.” I whispered.
He frowned. “Do you have to?”
I scooted closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder.
“Yes. The house was filthy when I went home yesterday.”
“I can hire someone to clean it for you.”
I sat up and looked at him, confused.
“No, it’s fine. I’ll be fine.” I assured him by leaving a soft kiss on his lips.
The car came to a halt and Harry decided to walk me up the stairs and to my door.
“I’m sorry about tonight.”
“Why are you apologizing? It was perfect.”
“Because the paparazzi screws up everything. It was supposed to be special and they ruined it.”
“Stop being so hard on yourself. It was amazing.” I hugged him and buried my head in the crook of his neck.
I broke away after a minute and smiled at him.
“I have to go.”
He pulled me into another hug before letting me go for good.
“Goodbye Harry.”
