You Found Me
Lana's POV
"You guys make me want to barf." Leah said as she walked into the room. Mark's arms were wrapped around me and we were having an intense make out session in the kitchen. I groaned against his lips and he laughed, clearly amused by my anger. I broke away from his soft lips but his arm remained around my waist.
"Shut up." I joked. "Are you ready?" Somehow, Leah had managed to convince me to come with her to some new bar that opened up in downtown. She threatened to kick me out of our apartment if I didn't. We have a complicated relationship.
"Yeah." She narrowed her eyes at Mark. "Is he coming?" For some reason, anger began bubbling inside me. Leah has always hated Mark and when I asked her if he could move in, we got into a huge fight. Everytime I ask her why, she keeps avoiding my question.
"No. He's got work tomorrow so he doesn't want to stay out late." I replied sharply.
She rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Work." I clenched my fists at my sides and gritted my teeth so loud that she could hear me. You could literally feel the tension between us.
Realizing that we were about to argue, Mark spoke up. "Why don't you two get going." Reluctantly, I agreed and I planted a long kiss on his lips, making sure that Leah saw what we were doing. She cleared her throat and I broke away for the second time.
"Bye!" I yelled as she pulled me out the door. I followed her to the car and as soon as I got into the passenger side seat, the car lurched forward.
The whole ride was awkward. The only thing we said to each other was some stupid shit about school. She basically ignored me the whole way. But I didn't mind. I was pissed at her too.
We pulled up into a empty space infront of the bar and piled out. Luckily there weren't that many people here so it won't be crowded. Even though I hate to admit it, being in a room with a lot of people makes me nervous.
I followed closely behind Leah as she led us deep into the room. We walked over to the bar and sat down at the bar stools near the wall. Leah ordered us drinks while I sat there and waited uncomfortably. Once Leah returned, we sat there awkwardly sipping on our drinks. There was little discussion between us and I could tell that she was desperate for this night to end.
Soon the bar became full and I stayed planted in my seat the entire time. Leah left not to long ago to go find some guy to dance with. The bar was instantly filled with defeaning music and the smell of sweat. A few people came to sit by me but none of them stayed, thankfully. I ordered a couple more drinks and sat there like a loner, watching everyone else have a good time.
While I was sipping on my third drink, a tall boy sat down beside me. He had raven colored hair and dark brown eyes which sent shivers down my spine. I shifted uncomfortably and turned my body to where I was facing the wall. But he caught onto my act. Not long after I moved, he tapped my shoulder and I turned around to see a smile covering his face.
"Hello, beautiful." Ugh. I smiled politely and stared into empty space infront of me. He tapped my shoulder once again and I groaned loudly to let him know that I wasn't interested.
"Would you like to dance?" He asked with a smile on his face. I shook my head no but he didn't like that answer. He wrapped his fingers around my arm and dug in tightly. I cried out in pain and tried to use my own fingers to pry his off.
"Come on," He commanded pulling me close to him. His breath reeked of alcohol and I winced as the scent covered my face. His nails dug deeper into my skin and I could already feel a bruise forming. My eyes darted around the room, desperate for someone to look at me. I looked for Leah but she was nowhere in sight. Was she so mad at me that she would let this happen?
"Let me go," My voice cracked. His smiled widened and his lips attacked my neck. I jerked my head away from him and made a screaming noise to let someone know what was happening. The guy started pulling me towards the front door and I knew this was it.
"I believe the lady told you to let her go." A deep voice said behind me. The man stopped for a minute and turned around to see who was talking to him. I did the same and I was immediately met with brillant green eyes.
"Oh yeah. What are you going to do about it?" The man's fingers tightened around my skin and I screamed, tears rushing down my cheeks.
The boy stepped forward. "Let. Her. Go." He seethed between clenched teeth. The guy who was holding me hands instantly let go of me and he stumbled somewhere else to go terrorize some other girl.
"Are you okay?" The boy asked. But I wasn't able to say anything. Even though he had just saved me, something was off about him. The way he looked at me made my insides churn.
"May I?" He motioned towards my wounded arm. I nodded gravely and he carefully peeled back the cloth on my forearm. I winced as his fingers touched the small bruises on my arm and he apologized atleast 5 times. He held my arm under the light and turned it gently to see how big the bruises were. Once he was finished, he pulled the shirt back down and let my arm fall loosely to my side.
"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked again. This time I was able to respond.
"Yeah." I choked out. "Thank you by the way." He waved his hand off like it was nothing and smiled sincerely.
"So are you from New York originally?" Dude, what's with the interrogation?
"No. I moved here with my friend and my boyfriend." As soon as I said boyfriend, guilt washed over me. His shoulders tense and his jaw clenched. I backed away slightly, afraid that he was going to hit me or something.
"Oh. Anyways I'll see you around." He said. Anger took over me and it took all of my might not to release it on him.
"Can I, um, have your name?" I blurted out. I immediately covered my mouth in shock. What is the matter with me?
"Harry," He winced slightly as if I was going to stab him.
"Lana." I smiled. He gave me a satisfying nod and I watched the person who saved me walk right out of my life.
