The Water's Sweet but Blood is Thicker

Abby POV

I awoke the next morning in a strange bed. I stood up and looked around trying to figure out where I am. A door opens off the side and Liam comes out dressed only in a towel. I freeze staring at him. What happened last night?
“Good morning.”
“Good morning.” I say skeptically.
Liam laughs. “Don’t worry nothing happened. Danielle and Niall were all over each other so I brought you up here cause you were drunk and in no condition to sleep on the couch.”
“I wasn’t drunk.” I say and Liam freezes.
“You weren’t?”
“No, I didn’t touch alcohol last night.”
We both look at each other.
“Dani.” We say at the same time.
“She must have slipped me something.”
“Do you remember anything?”
I look up and bite my lip memories of last night come rushing back.

*Flashback*
I walk into the front door of the house leaning on Liam laughing hysterically. I’ve had WAY to much sugar tonight. I look up at Liam and he is smiling at me and shaking his head obviously amused.
“Your cute you know that.” I say to Liam.
Liam smiles even wider as we make our way upstairs. Getting to the door of Dani and my room we hear laughing inside and the drink ramblings of Danielle and Niall.
“Well it looks like your room is occupied.” Liam says and leads me farther down the hall.
He opens the door and leads me into his room. I fall into his chest.
“Your cut you know that.”
“Yeah I know Abby. You already told me.”
“Oh.”
I look up at Liam.
“Aren’t you gonna kiss me?”
Liam looks down at me shocked then shakes his head his gaze softening.
“No Abby I’m not I want you to remember when I kiss you for the first time.”
I rock back on my heels and stick out my bottom lip pouting. I go over to the bed and crawl under the covers curling up. Liam comes over and sits next to me pulling up the covers.
“Goodnight.”
Liam plants a kiss on my forehead.
“Goodnight Abby.”
*End flashback*

I look down at my feet blushing and nod my head.
“Sorry about that.”
“No problem.”
I notice a pile of pillows and blankets on the floor. Liam notices my stair and rubs the back of his neck.
“Yeah I didn’t want to freak you out if you woke up next to me so I kinda slept on the floor.”
I look up at him and smile.
“Thank you.”
Liam steps closer to me and lift my chin up. I look deep into his eyes. When I feel his breath on my face I quickly pull away. I turn and run from the room. How did I let things get this far? I hear footsteps behind me and I run out onto the balcony. I feel a hand on my arms and Liam pulls me to face him.
“Abby why do you run when anyone gets too close?”
I look up into his eyes trying to decide if I can trust him.
“Because everyone always leaves.” I say finally.
“Danielle didn’t leave.”
“If Danielle hadn’t been adamant about staying in touch we would have lost touch a long time ago.” I admit.
Liam steps close to me and runs his hands up and down my arms. I try to pull back when Liam pulls me to him and crashes his lips on mine. I try to pull away but Liam won’t let me move I just stand there like a statue. Liam finally pulls away looking hurt.
“I will never leave you.” Liam whispers in my ear.
I pull away tears starting to form in my eyes. I turn from Liam.
“Don’t make promises you cant keep.” I say heading inside.
I head to my room and knock on the door.
“Come in.”
Openning the door I see Danielle sitting on the bed.
“Abby whats wrong?” I shake my head.
Danielle gives me a quizzical look but thankfully drops it.
“So we need to find you an amazing outfit today to impress Liam!” she says.
“Um Dani I’m not getting in the water today so theres no need for a swimsuit.”
“Okay.” Danielle says cheerfully.
How is she in this much of a good mood.
“So Dani what happened with you and Niall?”
Danielle smiles shyly.
"Your not going to tell me are you?"
Danielle shakes her head.
"Fine." I say huffing and crossing my arms.
We hear a knock on the door and Dani goes to answer it throwing me some clothes. (Abby's outfit:http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=111748330) I slip into the bathroom when I hear Liam talking to Danielle. I stop and listen to whats going on. I know eaves dropping is bad but I was curious.
“Hey Danielle is Abby there.”
Danielle looks back at me and I shake my head no. She gives me an annoyed look and turns back to Liam.
“Nope she went outside I think.”
I let out a big sigh of relief.
“Umm……well then maybe you can help me. Earlier Abby said something about people leaving what was that about?”
Danielle looks back around but I had ducked behind the dresser.
“Well I probably shouldn’t be telling you this but Abby hasn’t had the easiest life. Her dad is in the Royal Navy so she moves around a lot. Because of having to start over so much she doesn’t have all that many close friends cause either they leave or she does so um yeah.”
“Oh,” Liam says. “How can I show her I’m different.”
“I honestly don’t know.” Danielle says.
“Just stick with her and don’t let her push you away.”
I hear Danielle close the door and I quickly rush into the bathroom and turn the shower on. After showering I put on the clothes Danielle gave me. I walk back into the bedroom.
“Dani does this even count as a shirt.”
“Um it’s a little shorter on you then it is on me but of course it does….. We really need to go shopping. Maybe tomorrow?” I nod my head.
Danielle does my hair and makeup and we head downstairs. I grab my purse on the way. Entering the kitchen I see everyone.
“Good morning.”
Everyone shushes me. OOopsI forgot hangovers. I walk towards the door and grab a pair of my sandals.
“Abby where are you going?” Dani asks.
“Sightseeing.” I call out.
“I’ll go.” Liam says going to grab his shoes.
I open the door and look back.
“Alone.” I say and close the door.
Grabbing the guidebook out of my purse I flip it open to our area. I see that there are a lot of things to see in Seville which is nearby. Heading to the bus station I find the bus to Seville and wait until it gets there. Entering Seville I stare out the window marveling at the building nearby the Cathedral towers high above the buildings at the center of town. Getting off the bus I grab my guidebook and look at the map. What first? I look at the cathedral then at the map. Confident I had found the way I start walking. 15 minutes later I was lost. Pulling out the guidebook again I look at the map. How could I have gotten lost. It was supposed to be this way. I feel a tap on my shoulder and I turn around. I see a boy around my age with blond hair and hazel eyes.
“Excuse me miss are you lost.” He says in an English accent.
“I guess so the guidebook said to go this way but the streets aren’t matching up.”
He laughs. “The map in that guidebook is wrong. Here I’ll show you around I’ve been here about a week. I’m Alex by the way.”
“Abby and sure.”
I hear someone clear their throat behind him and notice a pretty girl at about 16 with brown hair behind him.
“Oh and this is Cassidy my little sister.”
“I’m 16 I’m not little.”
“Well I’m 19 so I think you are.”
I smile.
“So how old are you.”
“18” I say.
Alex offers his arm to me as a joke.
“My lady shall we set off."
I laugh and grab his arm.

6 hours later
I slump on to the stone bench lining the flower planters.
“Ugh I’m tired.”
Alex plops down next to me with his arm around my shoulders.
“I am too.”
I glance at my watch.
“Wow I should be getting back. I have a long bus ride.”
“I can drive you.” Alex offers.
“Oh no, I wouldn’t want to bother you.”
“It would be no problem I insist.”
“Well if you say so.”
Alex, Cassidy and I walk to his car and get in. Alex and I in the front and Cassidy in the back.
“So where are we headed.” Alex says gesturing to the GPS.
I lean over and type the address of the mansion in.
“There.” I say leaning back.
We drove all the way to the mansion singing talking and laughing.
We finally drove up and Alex and Cassidy look at me with wide eyes. I laugh.
“I’m staying with friends.”
They nod.
“Well bye it was nice meeting you.” I say giving Cassidy a hug.
I turn to Alex, “Thanks for today and thanks for driving me.”
“No problem Oh and…” Alex said reaching into his pocket and hands me his phone. “Can I get your number so we can stay in touch?”
Sure I say typing my number in and handing his phone back. When I go to put it in his hand I drop it. We both bend over to pick it up.
“Here.”
I say quietly handing him his phone. I then realize how close our faces are. Alex leans in and gently kisses me. I close my eyes and kiss him back. Alex pulls slowly away.
“Sorry I just wanted to do that all day.”
I smile at him.
“It’s okay.” I say slightly smiling at his
“It is?” He says returning my smile.
I nod my head and Alex leans in again his soft lips colliding with mine. He tastes like the sugar on the churros we got earlier. Alex’s tongue swipes my bottom lip asking for entrance so I open my mouth slightly. I tangle my hands in his hair and Alex puts has one hand cupping my cheek and one holding my back. We kiss for what seems like forever until Cassidy clears her throat.
“Um….ewww guys I’m still here. I mean I’d be fine with you guys going out and all cause your cool Abby but can you guys please just get a room.”
Alex and I break away smiling at each other. We both blatantly look at Cassidy and lean in and kiss again. Pulling away I see Cassidy glaring at us. I flash her a smile.
“Well I should get inside.”
“Here.” Cassidy says handing me my camera.
“Thanks for letting me use it. Send me the pictures please.”
“Will do I tell her with a smile.”
“Bye.” Alex says giving me a quick kiss that I smile into.
“Bye.”
I get out and walk to the front door. I try the handle but its locked. I knock on the door for someone to let me in. Liam opens the door and looks at me with a relieved face.
I hear a honk behind me. Turning around I see Alex and Cassidy waving.
“Bye Abby.”
“Bye Babe text me!”
I wave goodbye and turn back around to see that Liam’s face has gone completely blank. I walk past him into the living room where everyone else is waiting. Danielle stands up, runs over to me and grabs me by the shoulders.
“Abby where have you been?”
“Sightseeing I told you.”
“I know but we tried calling you and texting you and you didn’t answer.”
I grab my phone out of my purse and look at it. I press the power button and turn it on.
“It wasn’t on sorry.”
“Sorry! Sorry! We were worried you went out by yourself god knows where and couldn’t be bothered to respond.”
“Sorry.” I mumble as my text charm goes off. I scroll through all my messages. Two catch my eye and I open them

Hey Abby its Cass I got your number from Alex we need to go shopping sometime.
I save Cassidy’s number and open the next one.

Hey babe today was fun we need to do it again sometime xoxoxo Alex
I smile at that.
“What are you smiling for?” Danielle asks.
“Nothing.” I say holding my phone closer.
“Abby.” Niall’s says.’
“Hmm…..” I say and I feel someone snatch my phone.
“Hey no fair.” I say trying to take my phone back from Danielle
“No wait let me see. Hey babe today was fun we need to do it again sometime xoxoxo Alex.” Danielle reads.
“Who’s Alex and it better be a girl.” Danielle warns.
“Alex is a friend.” I say pulling out my camera and flipping to a selfie Alex, Cassidy and I took.
“There see that’s me, Alex and the girl is his younger sister Cassidy.” I say.
Danielle grabs the camera and flips through the pictures.
“Wait what are these.” She says showing the camera to Niall.
I look over her shoulder and see her cycling through the pictures stopping on some of the ones Cassidy took. Alex kissing my cheek in front of one of the fountains, Alex and I sharing churros and hot chocolate at a sidewalk café, Alex and I walking hand in hand through the church’s rose garden.
“Looks like he’s a little more than a friend Abby.” Danielle says.
“No he isn’t.” I say grabbing the camera but Danielle stops on one final picture.
"Hold on what's this?"
I look at the picture in shock.
Cassidy had taken a picture of Alex and I kissing.
