Love Behind Bars

∞One∞

Adela listened carefully as the officers talked, though quiet, if she listened closely she could hear their muffled words.

"I don't know what to think with this one." A police officer with a think mustache said, gesturing his head towards the door Adela was behind.

"It doesn't matter what you think, she broke the law and has to be put into custody." A skinnier officer with tan hair said.

A buzzer sounded, indicating someone walked into the building. Adela heard a sound like hands being smacked on a table and knew immediately it was her mother.

"Where's my daughter." Her mother said, voice sounding worried yet stern.

Adelas mother is a kind lately. Known kindly by the people of town. With dark hair, pale lips, high cheekbones, blue eyes, the picture of a friendly lady from a fairy tale. Adela didn't want to see the disappointed look on her mothers face when she got out of this office, If she got out. So gradually, she sunk into her chair, trying to hide her shame and embarrassment.

"Mrs. Jackson, your going to have to calm down and wait in the waiting area." The skinny officer said.

"I want to speak with my daughter this instant! She is entitled to lawyer and a trial." Adela's mother declared getting frustrated.

"Trisha, we will get her to you as soon as we can." The skinny officer said directing her to the waiting area, getting annoyed.

Adelas head throbbed from the growing headache she acquired. She already felt like a mess, she still couldn't believe what she did. Now, she would have to deal with the consequences, her mother, and Harry.

Harry. The thought of him put Adela in a trance. But she was quickly snapped out of it when she realized what he was probably thinking at the moment. The thoughts of him never coming back, never loving her again was unbearable. I few tears fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks, but she quickly rubbed them away as she heard a *click* and the office door swung open.

The man with the thick mustache stepped in. He motioned for Adela to stand up which she quickly obliged. He turned her around and started hand cuffing her. Which Adela thought was ridiculous since she had no weapon, and there was no way she could hurt a grown man with a taser and a gun.

"Ok, Adela, we are just going to take you to the investigation room." He said. Adela sharply turned around to argue, but decided against it. She caught a quick glimps at the officers name tag the said, officer Murphy.

Officer murphy then took Adela by the elbow and took her out of the office. They walked by the waiting area, Adela hoped her mother wouldn't see her. But ofcourse Trisha looked up at that moment to give her daughter a longing look. At first, Adela hoped her mother would go ballistic and throw a tantrum to get her back, but Adela knew that the episode wouldn't help. Apparently her mother knew also.

Officer murphy lead Adela down a very wide dark hallway. They were many rooms with no windows, but the ones on the door. Adela locked through each doors window. So many scruffy, dangerous looking people. Adela was not a threat. Or was she? Adela didn't know, yesterday she would think not, but today was a different story.

She he passed one last door which held none other then, Harry. His eyes were blood shot, probably from crying, his lips trembled, and his hair was a wreck. Adela was emotionally crushed. Did she put Harry through all this pain?

••••••••

"I was doing what I thought was right!" Adela answered sharply, Almost screaming.

Detective Keel, was his name. He was put on Adela's case and was only trying to help Adela. Or atleast that's what he told her.

"Did you or did you not break the law!" He said his voice rising.

"Yes!" Adela screamed. "I did! Is that what you want to hear?" She questioned.

"So, you agree you broke the law?" Keel asked.

"Yes." Adela answered doubtfully, letting out a shaky breath.

"So, you agree you should accept the consequences?" He asks. Adela was already fed up with this man and couldn't take anymore questions.

"Everyone deserves consequences!" She started. " what I did was wrong, I know, and I will accept what comes to me! But I do not believe what I did was out of place!" She finished strongly.

"That was all we needed to hear." Detective Keel said as he stood up, and left Adela in the solitary room.

•••••••

Harry was more then upset, he felt like he was coming apart at the seems. After the incident he didn't know what to think, at first. But he knew Adela was only doing what she thought was right, she was trying to help him. He was still, broken but otherwise grateful.

"Mr. Styles, we've assessed your understanding of the incident and you are free to go," my detective, Lance, said.

"What about my girlfriend? I need to see her, thank her. What about Adela, detective." Harrys voice shook, almost crying again.

"She has confessed to doing wrong, she will be prepped for confinement soon." He stated and took a brisk step out the door.

"No." Harry pleaded as tears fell.

Harry got down on his knees and put his hands together. Harry prayed, that's something He hasn't done in a long time. He prayed that they'd change their minds about Adela, and if they didn't shed be strong and tough it out.

"Dear God, please bring my Adela back to me."
