Chapter 4
"Ari, right?" Harry asks playing dumb. He knows damn well who I am.
I nod my head anyway. "Yeah."
He smiles. "I'm Harry."
Jesy speaks up. "I'll leave you to alone." She winks at me while walking away. No, Jesy don't go. I mentally beg, hoping somehow she'll hear me and will turn around. But she leaves without looking back.
"Well," Harry puts his hands in his pockets and rocks on his heels a little. "Should we get to know each other a little bit?"
"Sure." Is all I say, though I'd rather be anywhere else but here. I was hoping to ignore him for the whole party. But I guess that's not happening. I follow him through the mass of sweaty people to a different room. In the room is a bed, a desk, a tv on the wall, and a chair for reading. I quickly sit down in the chair. The room is pretty bland. Just neutral colors. He closes the door behind us, and sits on the edge of the bed across from me.
"So..." I say awkwardly, wanting to get this over with.
"Well, I just thought we should get to know each other since we're dating, and we're going to be spending a lot of time together." What a dick.
"We're not dating." I say defensively.
"Well, technically-"
I cut him off, "Fine, whatever. Let's move on."
"Ok, then." He's obviously surprised. I dont think he expected me to be like this. "So what's your favorite color?"
What a stupid question. What's my favorite color? He's and idiot. But I answer anyways. "Blue."
"Like a sky blue?" He asks curious. He actually wants to know. That's stupid. I think to myself, but once again I find myself answering.
"More like a dark navy blue." I relax in the chair a little more. I'm going to be in here a while.
He nods his head. "That's cool. What do you like to do in your spare time?"
I think about it for a minute. What do I like to do in my spare time? I don't usually have very much spare time, so I honestly don't know. "I don't really know. Since I've started acting I haven't really had a lot of spare time." I think a little more. "But I used to love to paint. I just never have time anymore." I honestly did. I would paint all the time. It was my escape from life. I even had my own little art room when I was, like, 16.
"When's your birthday?" Harry asks me more questions, but I'm not complaining.
"August 1" I reply. I like having a birthday in the summer. Its warm, and nice.
"Cool." Harry pauses for a minute. "Are you excited to come on tour?" Harry asks, hesitantly.
Douchebag. "No. I don't want to go on tour, with my fake boyfriend and his stupid band." I'm trying my hardest not to yell. I really am.
"Ok, sorry. Calm down it was just a question." He says defensively. I tense up.
"Well, I didn't want to ne dragged all the way from my great life on L.A. to become some dick's fake boyfriend!" I shout. There it is. I get mad way to easy. It's not like it's his fault. But it is. If he could get his own girlfriend, then maybe I wouldn't be here.
"Well , first of all I'm not a dick, you don't even know me, and secondly, it's not my fault you're here." He says angrily, in his own defense.
WHAT A DOUCHE. I stand up and open my mouth to say something, but there's a knock on the door.
"Harry? " a voice says through the door.
"Come in Niall." Harry tells the person. The door opens and in walks a blonde guy with blue eyes. He flicks his eyes back and forth between me and Harry.
"Sorry, to interrupt.... whatever you were doing, but the party's over. Everyone else is gone."
"Really?" Harry asks. Were we really in here that long? It doesn't feel like it.
"Yeah. " is all Niall says. He looks at me. He looks confused. Harry notices and speaks up.
"Niall, this is Ari." He introduces me. "She's an actress from L.A."
"That's cool. It's nice to meet you Ari." Niall smiles politely. I fake smile back.
"Nice to meet you too!" I say cheerfully. It's a good thing I can act.
"And Ari, this is Niall. He's in the band with me." Harry introduces him.
"Awesome! Well I should get going. Bye Harry!" I smile cheerfully. It almost makes me sick, to be this nice to him. "Bye Niall. " I walk past them both out of the room.
Niall was right. This place is empty. Everyone has left, well that sucks. I spent the whole party in a room talking to Harry.
I pull my phone out of my pocket and diall El's number. She answers after the third ring.
"El? The party's over." I say as soon as I hear her answer.
"So?" She asks rudely.
"So, come and get me?" I tell her like it should be obvious.
"Why would I do that? " she hangs up. What? Did El just hang up on me? Did she just say she's not coming to get me? I diall her number again. It rings for a minute, then goes to her voice mail. I hang up. I shoot her a text and call her again. She doesn't answer.
I call her a few more times and send her more texts. After I hang up for the 5th time I've had enough. "Bitch." I mumble under my breath.
I hear laughter behind me. I turn around to see who the hell is laughing at me. Of course, it's Harry. Cant he just leave me alone?
"What do you want?" I ask, irritated. I just want to be done with him.
"Seems like you have a problem." He continues to laugh, despite the dirty looks I'm giving him.
"Thanks for stating the obvious." I roll my eyes. He's an idiot.
He stops laughing and looks at me seriously. "Do you need a ride?"
I nod my head. "Yeah." But then I realize that I don't know where to. El dropped me off at the party right after we got out of the airport. I don't know what hotel I'm supposed to be staying at. "I just don't know where." I admit.
"Sounds like a set-up." He looks deep in thought. I think about it. If El won't come and pick me up, and I don't know where I'm staying, then I have to go to Harry's. That clever bitch.
"Ok, come get in my car and I'll take you to my condo."I don't really have much of a choice, so I follow him.
