A Broken Chain

Veronica’s party is tonight and I really don’t want to go. But I did promise to her that I would. Well, sort of promise.
“Stevie. You promised you would quit.” Liam whined.
“I know! I’ll do it tonight, Liam. Seriously.”
“Thanks, Stevie.”
I sighed. “You're welcome.”
I walked to Johanna’s room.
“Hey Jo.”
“Hey.”
“So… do you want to a party tonight?”
“What kind of party?”
“My boss… Veronica…”
“Where?”
Why did she have to ask so many questions?
“At a nightclub.”
“Awesome! I’ll be ready in 30 minutes!” She squealed. She pushed me out of her room and closed the door.
(30 MINUTES LATER)
I waited for Johanna, smoothing out my dress. Johanna walked downstairs.
"Why the heck are you wearing that?! Johanna this is a serious party."
"It's at a nightclub. It really can't be that serious."
I tilted my head. "Ok, come on."
Johanna grinned.
